Sitting down in his seat at the head of the table, Aaron shuffled through a couple of PADD’s he had with him.

=^=Foley to Senior Staff and Cmdr T’Sai. Please report to the Observation Lounge in 20 minutes for mission briefing.=^=

=/\=On my way captain.=/\= She picked up her PaDD and tapped her leg for Ril to follow her. “Jak’Rash,” she called out, “you’re in charge. I have a senior staff meeting to attend.” A few minutes later, Rox entered the Observation lounge with her fluffy white shadow. She took a seat and the dog disappeared under the table and curled up at her feet.

Demil was there in half the time requested, taking his customary seat 3 down on the captain’s left. He nodded to Rox as he entered, sitting in silence unless she initiated a conversation. He pulled out a PADD of recent experiment data and began reading.

Viveca appeared in the Observation lounge around the 17 minute mark, smiling in greeting to everyone she slid into a seat and waited for the meeting to get underway.

Demil snapped to sitting perfectly straight in his chair as the counselor entered the room. “Commander,” he acknowledged, setting his PADD aside.

“At ease please Lieutenant,” Viveca replied with a smile.

“How are we looking Lieutenant?” Aaron asked Demil. “What do you think of the equipment they brought aboard?”

“It’s certainly interesting, sir,” Demil replied. “We haven’t finished fully cataloguing it yet, but I am confident that will be done within the hour.”

“Let me know when you are finished. I’d like your separate opinion on what we are heading into here.
“Aye, sir. It’ll be on your desk as soon as possible.”

Lanna walked into the room a few minutes before the meeting was scheduled to start. She smiled warmly as she looked around the room.. “Where would you like me Captain” he requested.

“Why don’t you sit up here, as this will be mostly your briefing,” he said towards Lanna indicating one of the open chairs near himself.

“For those who haven’t met her yet, this is Commander T’Sai. She is in charge of this scientific expedition, so I’d like her to give us a rundown of what we can be expecting on this mission.”

Lana smiled warmly, “Thank you Captian” she said taking a seat next to him. She was a bit nervious, not really because of giving a briefing to a ships crew, she had been doing that for years. It was the fact that years for research was coming to a head, and while there was little chance of anything that would cause anything other than failure in her plan. She did not want to leave the weight of what the were doing seem less than it was simply because the ship and the crew would not be in any danger.

Viveca gave the Commander her full attention, curious to see where the ship would be headed.

Zunara swept in behind the rest of the senior crew and took his seat in the Security Chief’s position.

Ilena nodded to those that came in, then turned her attention to Commander T’Sai.

“I think we have everyone. Commander would you please walk us through what your study is going to require and cover?”

Viveca turned her full attention to the Commander, she was truthfully curious to see what their new mission had in store and she was sure the rest of the crew, particularly the cadets were frothing at the bit to get underway.

Lanna looked around the room, made a few entries on her PaDD. “Thank you Captain” she said, “Lieutenant Commander T’Sai, I’m very gladd and excited to be here, among my credentials I have spent the better part of my carreer studing the Agosoria Nebula a fairly young stellar nursury” she noted as her fingers flicked the PaDD she was holding. The lights dimmed and an image of the nebula appeared on the rooms view screen.

“I could sit and look at it for days , and probably have” she said with a slight laugh. “Sadly we have not been able, with all of our technology, been able to study the core of the nursury, tidle forces always take out the probes before the reach thier optimal range. ” she said switching the image to would looked like at Photon torpedo appeared on the screen. “Now we can, Meet Thoth” she said with a small grin wondering if anyone would know the reference.

“They torpedo shells , have impoved shielding over a standard prob, we have obviously modified them to not be an explosive. The extra shielding should get us through the tidal forces sand intense radtion surounding the core.” he said showing the 6 point net they would be creating around the core.

“The probes will be deloped to these 6 points, from there they will self activate after 1 hour deploying the sensor array.”

“If this works” she said looking around the room. “We will learn more in 1 day than we have in the last decade about the core of a stellar nursery.”

“Thank you Commander. What sort of risks are we looking at to the Challenger?” It seemed like a pretty straight forward mission to Aaron.

Lanna did not hesitate to answer “It is indeed Captain, other than loss of equipment I can not think of any risk to the ship or the crew, the probes them selves are just fancy probes with a scarry case and improved propulsion” she said with a chucle.

“What are the radiation types and levels from the nebula?” Rox asked. Depending on how close they got the crew may need to be inoculated as a precautionary measure.

Lanna smiled with the Great Plume is a little different from other stellar nursurys, most a comprised of radio, infered, ultraviolt and x-rays. Agosoria is a bit different it is a realitivly new nursury every 11 years a protostar within the nursury fires of a burst of energy consisting of gama and delta radation. ” She paused showing the last eruption on the screen. “It is one of the most beautiful events you will ever witness. The next one is in a year.” she noted. “The levels between events are very low.”

“Any potential hazards from the modified torpedoes? Other than the obvious risks?” Rox asked.

Lanna thought about it for a moment. “No not really there is no ordinance on them, so fairly harmless all things considered”

“And how close will the Challenger need to get in order to maintain communication with the probes?”

“Not close Captain, we’ll stay on the outer edge of the nebula, there are relays in place already on the edge and about half way to the core. ” she smiled. “It really is a safe fun mission” she said.

Ilena didn’t say it because she didn’t want to speak it into existence, but anytime someone said ‘safe’ it ended up being the exact opposite.

Aaron was glad he hasn’t been drinking anything at that moment. If he had a strip for every time he heard that, he would make even a Ferengi jealous with his wealth.

“I’m glad to hear that. Is there any other questions for the Commander?” He asked to the room.

Viveca shook her head slightly, she really didn’t have a lot to add, though she was a little put off by the promise of a nice ‘safe’ mission. She supposed time would tell.

Lanna looked around at the other officers, she was smiling ear to ear. They all had no idea what this mission meant to here, simple it maybe, but the results would allow here to step away while the data was collected and spend some much needed time with her family.
