“Nope, not that I can recall,” Benem answered and quickly returned to the subject he was interested. It wasn’t everyday that you met somebody so interesting! “Do you think you could use that device to echolocate?”

“Many people get space sick, especially on their first long-term stay on a starship, so if any symptoms arise please drop by and let me know. It’s better to get treatment right away than suffer in silence.”

“Echo-locate?” she repeated, thinking. “I’ve never tried too, but I’d guess I could.” Carmen popped one of her aids out again, looking at it. “I’d have to learn how to hear the echoes, but the aids could definitely pick up the sound.”
She offered the device for Ben to look at, having picked up on his earlier desire to examine it.

As she held it out, she yet again pushed the conversation back to his medical evaluation. “Do you have any allergies or sensitives that should go on file?”

The trill accepted the device and gave it a quick examination.

“Can you still hear me?” he asked her, watching her expression with unabashed curiosity. Though he returned it to her, he wished he could really get a chance to test it out, but she was on duty and he wasn’t trying to interfere too too much. “I have a friend onboard, his name’s Noah. He’s a bit of a computer whiz. I bet if anyone can set it to echo-locate he can.” Convincing him to do it, might be another matter, though. For a moment, the Cadet wondered if his friend had made it aboard yet, and how that was going.

“No allergies that I know of, though,” he said, finally answering her question. “I spent a few months as a shuttle pilot before I joined StarFleet, I’ve seen a lot of people get space sick,” Ben added with a laugh. “I think I’ll be good. Personally, I think I was born to live up here on a starship.”
