After he left the Engineering area he walked to the CO office. He looked around as the civilians were happy to have working lights so things will no smooth for them. Mike was not sleeping well on his old ship he slep close to engineering he enjoyed the hummm of the warp core. Maybe he will ask the CO to live on one of the ships or replace the old power core for a warp core and use all that warp energy to power the ship yard.

He got to the office and knoked on the door.

“Yeah.” came the brusque reply. The door slid open to reveal the CO’s office and the man seated behind the desk. He looked up and said “Hey, Chief. C’mon in and take a seat.”

Mike took a set and look at the CO ” i was thinking the power core is very old if we got a warp core to power rhe shipyard things can go better” he said with a smile

Stout thought about it for a minute. “What model you think?” he asked.

Mike looked at him “a warp 5 core will be best not to big and can fit with out having to do major work” he pulled up plans on his padd ” see this is what i was talking about and if we get the warp core we can keep Shields going in a emergency” he said with a smile “oh what did you need to run by me”

Stout waved off the last question and looked at the plans for a few minutes. “I’m not sure that a five will do what we need without fusion reactor assistance. If we are gonna ask for an upgrade, we should go big or go home. And it’s not like we can’t justify the need.” and he looked up at Knight. “Give me a full rundown on what we will need for a Class 9 with a compositor-equipped reaction chamber installation. We would need to refuel less often, and the compositor will let us recrystallize the matrix so we can cut down on dilithium consumption. It will be a big ask, but I think in the long run it will save on overall resource consumption. What do you think, Chief?”

Mike looked at his pad and input all the new data ” it can work but there will not be as much room in the Engineering pod can we get an bigger pod for engineering” he asked ” go big or go home” he replied

Stout looked at the Chief Engineer confusedly. “Um… you have something like ten decks to put the thing in. How much more space do you need, Lieutenant?”

Mike relaxed in his set ” so if we order this now when do you think we can get it” he asked as he reworked the data on his pad.
