It was three in the morning station time when NE Fitzsimmon’s control panel beeped that a ship dropping out of ward had been detected. “What the…?” the heavy-lidded Operations officer said as he pulled his feet off the terminal desk and leaned forward. “We don’t have any ships scheduled incoming…” The ship was too far away for identification, but it appeared to be Federation. NE Fitz turned and looked at the Watch Officer currently in the Command chair. “Ma’am, I have an unidentified vessel just dropped out of warp at the outer-most edge of our sensor range. I think… wait. Ma’am, we are being hailed.”

“On screen.” Lt. (jg) M’stok said. The Vulcan stood up as the screen lit up showing the face of an Antican dressed in the uniform of Star Fleet and wearing the pips of a Vice Admiral. The canine-humanoid looked up, scowled, and said “Where is your Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Junior Grade? Why are they not on the bridge?” in a tone indicating extreme displeasure.

Nonplussed, the Vulcan simply arched an eyebrow and said respectfully “Sir, the Commanding Officer is most likely in his quarters at this time. I will call him to the Command Deck immediately. If you could let me know what this is in regards to, I-” and the Antican cut her off. “Do I look like someone that needs to explain myself to a junior officer, Lieutenant Junior Grade? Do I?” he asked, his voice getting more and more agitated with each word. “No, Sir. I will get the Captain immediately.” as she reached down to tap the station comms the screen blanked out, the call terminated from the other end. At that moment, the NE who detected the ship tapped a few commands into his console and the ship and Vice Admiral in command of it’s identities were conveyed to her. She looked, and even through her Vulcan stoicism, a look of dread was briefly visible. An automated file beamed from the ship, the Interror, conveyed a set of of previously unknown orders to the station as well.

=/\= Command Deck to all Senior Officers. Please report to the Command Deck immediately. Star Fleet Inspector General is incoming… with his staff. We are being inspected. =/\=

So It Begins

Ferl’lak heard the announcement from his quarters. It wasn’t relayed through his quarters but he had something akin to a police scanner. “Inspector General hey?…” He murmured to himself and smiled. Then it went to a frown. “I can’t let him fail this station and replace its current commander. I need him and he allows for certain.....activists of mine and a new CO wouldn’t allow that since no doubt he or she will be handpicked by the inspector general…if not already. I got to help and be on my best behavior.”

He got up and put on his best blue suit and left for the turbolift. He ran back inside his quarters and picked up his “checkbook”. “Might have to grease some wheels for this.” He stated has he placed it in his right inside coat pocket.

He made his way back to the turbolift and just waited inside it. He will just ride it until the CO or XO or someone with bridge access comes into it. Since this was an inspection. It did concern him since he was head of civilian operations. If he couldn’t get on the bridge then he would make up a conference room with all the fixings for the Admiral and his entourage.

OOC: I don’t know if I’m allowed to participate now or later so I have him two options. Plus I needed to post.

Ferl’lak

OOC: Even though a civilian, you are part of the Command Staff, so you are most welcome.

IC: Stout was in bed, but not asleep. That was something that eluded him most nights. =/\= On my way. =/\= he grumbled. He got and threw on a uniform from his closet. He went to the replicator and picked up the coffee mug that was always generated when the computer detected him moving around his quarters after he went to bed and then walked to the turbo lift. As the doors opened, he yawned broadly and gave a half-nod to Ferl’lak. “Command Deck. Morning. Or whatever the hell time it is. And this guy better not expect a fromal reception at this hour with no notice. I don’t care if he is the General of the Universe. This is not the way to get on my good side.” he said flatly and took a drink.

Stout, CO

“Morning Captain. And it is about 0310 hours, station time.” He said cheerfully. “Is this Admiral going to pose a problem?” And this time not so cheerfully.

Ferl’lak

“Stout noded once. “Yep. They always do, Mr. Ferl’lak. They always do…” and the dorrs opened to the Command Deck and he walked to the center chair.

Ferl’lak frowned and followed the Captain and stood behind him and you the right so he could see and be seen.

OOC: Merging

The message found Scott asleep in his quarters. “Mumph,” he groaned to the dark room, “IG’s are the worst…” He pulled his pillow up over his head and buried himself into the warm confines of the mattress, hoping it all had been a bad dream. Eventually, resigning himself to the notion that it wasn’t a dream, he threw the pillow off and stood up.

Still dirty from the previous day he stumbled towards the sonic shower, growling at the replicator, “Coffee…” As the waves removed the dirt and sweat from his body he sighed, waking up even more and then making his way to the closet. Almost by habit he reached for the utility overalls but then remembered this was a management meeting not a working session and grabbed his duty uniform instead, pulling the golden undershirt over his head with a grunt and making sure the pips were properly aligned.

After the whole ensemble was properly fitted he stumbled towards the door, the turbolift, and finally the bridge. During the whole trip he managed to wake up properly and entered the command center looking as if he had been awake and ready to go for at least a couple of hours.

Lt. Scott Woods, CE

Stout scowled at the blank screen for more than a moment and then looked at M’stok and said “Hail the Admiral, will ya?” She nodded and then looked at the Operations NE and nodded again. The NE tapped a few commands, waited, tapped again, and then said “On screen, Captain.” and a the wall lit up to show a Bajoran Ensign looking very uncomfortable. “This is USS Interror, Serenity Station.”

Stout scowled and said “This is Captain Michael Stout, Commanding Officer. Where’s the Vice Admiral, Ensign? I’d like to speak to him.”

“Um… Sir… he… um… he told me… well, you see Captain, I was told… um…” and finally Stout cut him off. “Ensign, spit it out. What did the Vice Admiral say to tell me?” The Ensign, obviously being put on the spot, shifted uncomfortably, took a deep breath and steeled himself, and said “The Admiral told me if you were to contact us I was to say that he was speaking to more important personages than you, Captain. You will simply have to wait to speak to the Inspector General until he arrives. And then I am to cut off the communication. Sir, I’m very sorry, I’m just trying to follow -” and Stout jabbed his finger onto the arm of his chair and cut the comms himself. He looked around at the assembled personnel and said “Oh, this is going to be a hoot. I can tell already.”

Stout, CO

Ferl’lak was shocked by this. “Is…is he Ferengi or some other socially confused being? What an a##hole.” He looked around. “What? Did I not use the Earth verb correctly?”

Ferl’lak

Stout had the misfortune of taking a sip of coffee at the exact moment Ferl’lak’s assessment of the Vice Admiral was made. A loud “PPPPFFFFFFPPPTTTTT” sound coincided with the Captain spitting coffee halfway across the Command Deck. After coughing for a moment and waving off Lt. (jg) M’stok who came to try and help, Stout looked at Ferl’lak and said “Nope. Pretty spot on usage of the term.”

At this time, Ensign McMoragh entered the Command Center and took his station as science officer. “Computer, log Ensign McMoragh at this duty station at this date and time” said Riker.

Riker

Scott rubbed his hands together with a rueful smile at the comment from the use of the colorful language and not so helpfully throws out as a suggestion. “Could always load Polaris onto his ship just for kicks and giggles. I am sure she would have far too much fun with a… you know.” He motions towards Ferl’lak.

Woods

Stout looked at Woods and said “We’ll call that ‘Plan B’, Chief. Hell, for all we know the Admiral just hasn’t had his coffee. Or maybe had too much, we’ll just have to see.” and then he looked around the room. “But I am leaning towards Mr. Ferl’lak’s psychological assessment until we know for sure.”

Despite the medical field constantly being called at odd hours for emergencies, it still never got easier. Yuri sat up in his bed for a moment before swinging his feet over towards the edge to set them on the floor. He blinked a couple of times in his dark room before slapping his cheeks twice with both of his hands.

=^= Acknowledged.=^=

He tilted his neck to both sides, giving them a few small pops. “Computer, lights. Low.” His room dimly lit as he stood up and pulled his uniform from the chair at the desk that was next to his bed. A few bits of paper with research notes and old medical instruments were scattered across the face of the desk. It took him only a few seconds to put on his clothes and head out the door, but not before stopping at the replicator to get a new blend of the coffee he was working at, replicated in a thermos container.”

Only a few minutes had gone by before he arrived at the Command Center. After stepping in he’d noticed that the Captain already had some coffee and a rather annoyed look on his face. “Is all well Captain ..?” He inquired. He still had a tired look on his face as he was already slowly adjusting to being awake. A bit of stubble could be seen atop his head as he hadn’t had the chance to shave it off yet for the morning.

Lieutenant Yuri Balashov (CMO)

Stout looked at the Doctor, the thermos, his cup, and then went back to glaring at the blank screen. He lifted the cup of steaming coffee to his lips, downed the contents, and said “Nope. Not at all, Doc. Not even remotely.” and he sat the cup on the arm of the Command chair and jabbed the comms. =/\= Attention all personnel. Prep all areas for Star Fleet Inspection. No, we didn’t know about it. Yes, it will be a giant pain in the aft-section. No,I’m not kidding. Prepare docking bay 6 for arrival. Stout out. =/\=
