Ferl’lak was greatful for his recent purchase of the species of Aliens that were immune to radiation and only required one day of rest a week. He still worked them like Starfleet and his other staff but their days were 12 hours long instead of the normal eight. He paid them accordingly though.

It has been a week since they started and have made much progress. The Starfleet medics were doing a great job with the decontamination process and keeping people healthy. He will have to see to it that they get a nice bonus after this. It went against all his upbringing but a crew that was happy and well rewarded is a crew that is loyal and does a much better job. Which means more contacts and more money in the future. Ferl’lak smiled at that and rubbed his hands together and looked around at the greatness before him. He was also in a protective suit.

After a moment a small blond woman appears next to Ferl’lak. “It is a good job you have done here, I must admit,” she says before turning to him. She wears a simple engineering uniform, golden hair pulled up into a neat bun, but no protective gear what so ever. “Are you planning on scrapping her?”

Polaris

She startled him. He didn’t think anyone was near him. He smiled and talked while he was turning around while speaking. He recognized a female voice. “Thank you my dear and no. We are not scrapping her, we are cleaning it and then refitting her to go back into service.” He saw her ten and stopped talking. A look of actual concern in his eyes. “My dear. You are unprotected. You need a suit on and a radiation marker on. It’s for your safety. These other Aleins are immune to the effects but we are not. Please, let us go to the decontamination area and get you help.” He then tried to get her hand and take her there.

Polaris laughed at Ferl’lak and blinked out of sight only to have her face appear on one of the screens a moment later. “Scott told me to come check this place out. Seems he didn’t want to risk the real engineers but shh.” She put her fingers to her lips and winked at the man, “I don’t think the captain knows. Our little secret yes?”

Ferl’lak blinked. He couldn’t believe it. “You’re a hologram?!” He vowed not to be fooled again.
“Secret? The captain told me to do this and there are safety protocols everywhere. As long as they’re followed, there isn’t a risk to anyone.” He said bluntly.

She closes her eyes briefly as she thinks about something and adds, “Most of the systems are operational though degraded due to the exposure. Nothing time and money can’t fix though I assure you.”

Pol

“They’ll be operational just like this ship will be and before scheduled time. Time I got and money even more so, but I’d rather part with time first.”

Ferl’lak

“Technically I am an artificial intelligence who happens to have a hologram projection I can use when people get unsettled by having a conversation with a computer screen.” The girl nods on the screen then adds, “I am sure you will get there just fine. I have to ask though, what is your interest in the ship? Planning on adding it to your fleet? OOOO Are you a Ferengi pirate?!”

Polaris

Ferl’lak chuckled. “Kind of. I am a former DaMon. I already have hundreds of ships that I own. Some big, small, warlike, transportation, cargo, recycling, etc.. But this ship is going back into fleet service, so it is not for sale. I wouldn’t have spent the money on this like I did now if it was for my personal ship. It is not worth it.”

“I spent this money, my money, to get this ship back up and running and in prime condition as to be able to get more contacts similar or inn general. Spend money to make money. But tv’s Ferengi do not see it like that. That is one of tv’s reasons I am not a DaMon anymore or associated with the Alliance. And the fact that I have more money than everyone on the Alliance Council combined. They are stupid about making money from a race that only cares about money.”

“Tell me my dear. Are you or your technology up for sale?” He smiled slowly showing is perfect white razor sharp teeth.
