Thomas returned with an old phaser to the Engineering department and started to disassemble it. He had to find a way to make it into some sort of device that acted like the agonizer booth. “Get one of the agonizer booths, take it apart and retrieve me this part,” he said to one of the Engineering officers in his department. The part he was looking for was the generator of the pain field, which he had to get a handheld version of.

While the team were taking it apart, Thomas looked over from a distance, to make sure they were all doing their jobs. He would need a test subject when this was complete, after all.

One of the NE’s was working on something at the workbench She was strangely very pretty despite being an Engineering officer her Black hair tied back in a ponytail and her emerald green eyes were cold and filled with just general hatred her nails had black nail polish on them She sighed as if Inconvinanced “Here you go sir” she said simply moving over showing the exact part he had wanted the tone of her voice sounded very bored “I was just rebuilding this spare one we had in the cargo bay The idiots at spacedock gave us a burned-out one” she added clearly not caring she was giving a serious amount of Disrespectful Insubordinate lip to her department head

Thomas took the receptor and placed it into the phaser. He tinkered for a few moments, joining the two together. “Now, let’s see if it works. Firstly, thank you for that. And spacedock always leave us with things to do,” the officer said. “And if you continue to take that disrespectful tone toward me Ensign, then you might just end up drawing the short straw to be one of the test subjects for this,” he said - holding up the modified phaser. “I can’t garauntee it won’t go wrong, of course,” he said with a smile. “After all, it’s experimental,” he said as he picked up the phaser. “Of course, I’d rather use it on someone that actually deserves it. Don’t make me waste the testing on you,” he told the Ensign before beginning to make his way to his office.

she just rolled her eyes however before either could say anything a Tellarite Ensign at one of the stations shouted in horror as alerts started blaring He burned out 5 EPS Relays on F Deck

“What the…” Thomas briefly said as he looked at the consoles. “What did you do?” he asked the Tellarite. “Report, Ensign,” he ordered.

“I…I....I....” he stammered looking at the readouts he was trying to transfer power to F Deck as per a request from Tactical for more power to the Torpedo tubes however he miscalculated horribly and shunted more power than the Relays could handle

Shawe glared at the Ensign. “Spit it out, Ensign. You messed up didn’y you?” he asked coldly, his cold stare still burrowing into the officer.

“Sir I…I am not sure how I could have done anything wrong” the Tellarite boldly said finding his voice though there was nothing but fear in his eyes still the fact remained the computer was showing that he miscalculated how much power to send and basically overloaded the system

Shawe half smiled. He had found his subject. He walked over and looked over the details. “So, what is that extra 0 doing there?” he asked the subject. “Let me teach you something. Come with me,” he said before grabbing the arm of the Tellarite and throwing him into an agonizer booth.

“OK, so here it is set to 1%” he said, activating the agonizer booth at 1%, just a slight discomfort. “Here is the difference a 0 can make,” he said, turning the agonizer booth up to 10% for 10 seconds. He watched closely as he did so, seeing how the tellarite was handling the agoniszer booth, then turned off the booth. “So, next time - before you confirm it, check!” he said. “Dismissed,” he said.

His purpose of the punishment was two-fold. To teach the officer a lesson, but also to test if he was resilient enough to make a suitable test subject.

Bump

the Telarite grunted in discomfort then let out a loud yelp of pain as the punishment was laid down The Ensign from before stepped up “You know Lieutenant He is constantly making that mistake…Might be best to have him be the test of that portable agonizer” she said in her depressed and bored monotone that clearly showed she actually did not care about much if anything

As Shawe turned down the booth, his radiated side of him turned and looked right at her. “Just had to make sure he was hardy enough to be able to take it, didn’t want to waste resources,” he said, a smile crossing his face as he did so. He looked toward the booth holding the Tellarite and ordered the Ensign to get him out and back to work.

Shawe returnedto his office, and looked over the Tellarite’s service record. He saw the amount of mistakes he had made, multiple times, and decided that he agreed with the Ensign. He then went over to the replicator, ordered a spaghetti, and enjoyed his meal before making some changes to the phaser shell he was using for the pain. He then went over to the wall panel and contacted sickbay.

=^=Engineering to Sickbay. I may need a doctor, I’ve got a project that may need some medical observation=^=
