Veena nodded, “Who would I be using leadership skills on and with what authority. As a slave and a alien I could see a dagger thrown at someone yell look out! And they would die to the blade just to spite me.”, she repled seriously. “Unless that blade was thrown at you. I would get between you and the assassin rather than yell a warning.”, she continued after a brief pause. “You are unlike anything I expected from a Terran master. So it may take some time to adjust to exactly what I can do for you Captain. Other than follow your orders that is.”, she said a bit baffled by everything that was said since they entered the Captain’s quarters.

Veena. Dazed and confused tribute to the Empire.

“If they’ve been assigned t this ship it means that they are qualified officers with a Bright future, I need you to focus on the 6 Security Sub-Department Heads, control them and you have the Security department in check, then all you’ll need to do is prove yourself to them, if your as good as you should be that won’t be a problem, that slave collar will placate those that will be bothered by this. You’ll need to familiarise yourself with the tactical systems, be better than them and you can properly earn the position I’ve decided for you.”

Veena just kind of blinked at her master. “Security?”, and she sighed, “Are they all male? What about the Marines nearly the first words Captain Maco said to me was that she enjoyed killing my species. I can’t imagine she’ll react to me being in charge of armed men particularly well. Fact is I expect trouble just because You gave me weapons.”, and Veena frowned. “You are putting a lot of faith in Imperial conditioning that you just told me to break free of. “, and she looked up at him and met his gaze. “You my Master, My Captain are a true bastard. You offer me as close to freedom as is possible for Tribute at the risk of being murdered for following your orders. Not only am I unable to say no to you I don’t even want to say no. I will follow you Captain and only death will prevent success” , she looked about at the room . “I rather feel like I should get drunk to the point of passing out right about now. “,

“Four are male two are female all are Terran, good soldiers but lack leadership qualities. Captain Graham is the perfect soldier but she has a tendency to execute officers a bit too liberally, she’ll take care of any external threats but I like to keep my crew alive for as long as possible.” He stood up and walked past the Orion, removing the bag from his bed and throwing it across the room “There should be some alcohol in the drinks cabinet” He said lazily pointing across the room with his axe before lying on his bed over his sheets. “Knock yourself out”

Veena walked over pickedup the bagand folding it ptoperly put it away in the closet. She then went over to the indicated cabinet. “What is Masters prefrence?”, she asked. Veena had been taught that not every invitation was a invitation. The Captain’s vague wording could be what it seemed to be but it could be that having mentioned drinking he now wanted a drink. Besides which if she was going to have to deal with 6 unhappy Terrans she had best be completely sober. “If the Captain would be so kind as to advise his new security officer. Is it better to imediately confront them with who their leader is? Wait till a hour before shift starts inthe morning? Or Confront them as they arrive for their shift? Should I meet them individually or as a group? And if they react as hostile as I suspect they will do I kill one as a example to the others?,”, She didn’t like the idea of killing anyone really and she would avoid it but Terrans had a unreasonable habit of choosing violent solutions to solve problems so she had to be ready.

Lt. Jg. Veena Gunnar. COS

“Grab the leaders just before their shift starts, make them understand who is in charge. I’ll be assigning all security codes to you in the morning, you will also receive a commission of Lieutenant Junior Grade to go with your position. Then during our first mission, you’ll have a chance to prove yourself a capable leader” He said from his bed with closed eyes “No drink for me, I avoid alcohol whenever I can”
