Shawe took one more look over the city of Rome that was his home before joining the terran fleet. It had been years since he had last breathed the air here, before the ‘hazing’ that went wrong. The then chief engineer was responsible for the radiation burns that covered half of his face. He was dealt with. That’s how he ended up here. The ship was boarding today, and he decided to get one last look out of the view of his apartment, one of many skyrises that made the more modern city, with a decent view of the coloseum through his living room window. The flag of the Terran Empire flying high over the building.

“It’s time,” he said to himself as he put on the shirt of his uniform, covering the continued burn down the shoulder to about halfway to the elbow, and made his way out of his quarters and report in to the captain of his new vessel.

He made his way to the taxi surface of shuttles to make his way to the brand new vessel. He couldn’t help but get a little excited. He was about to get his hands on something new. But this time, he knew he would have to watch his own back. He technically killed someone for his promotion, after all. Even if it was someone planning a mutiny, Shawe didn’t know that. He feigned that he did, and it was all to protect the captain and the Empire.

“Is the new ship boarding yet?” he asked the closest person, not caring if it was someone that worked here or not.

“None of my business,” a man responded. “Ask someone who cares,” he said. Thomas shrugged and made his way to a shuttle pilot who was ferrying people over to the ship and said “we’re just about to go, you’re just in time.”

The next few hours, Thomas just looked over Terran one more time, it was probably going to be a while before he saw it again. He had work to do, and a ship waiting for him to look after.

When he arrived, Shawe stepped out into the shuttlebay with one of the first crew loads over. He walked over to a console, one that was familiar from his previous posting. “Computer, what is the current location of Captain Kaldland,” he asked the computer.
