ISS Cerberus

Prologue: Thomas Shawe: The Aftermath

The ISS Hellcat was a fast ship, and Ensign Thomas watched as the last breath of his previous department head left him. Thomas smiled widely that his plan had worked and he was eventually free of the engineer who had punished him for missing impossible deadlines, and being unable to complete some impossible tasks that would have resulted in his own death.

It was at that moment the previous engineer’s communicator beeped.

=^=Roland is… indefinitely indisposed. =^= Thomas responded. It was then that the captain’s voice came over the comms.

=^=So, who is going to fix my ship!?=^= A sharp male voice replied over the communicator. Thomas sighed and knew that he would have to take the role, at least that was what he thought when the communicator continues =^=After all, your transfer orders from the Empire came in, your going on a new ship, and your getting promted, Lieutenant. Congratulations, you’ll have your own ship’s engines to mess up now.=^= Shawe was about to correct him, but he felt good being called a higher rank, and when he was told about the ship, he was shocked.

=^=Glory to the empire.=^= Shore simply responded, before going to the turbolift to go to the bridge to report his exit from the Hellcat.

“Captain,” he said to a male human man sitting in the centre chair of the Hellcat. “Come with me, Shawe,” the figure responded, going to his ready room. Thomas followed behind. “So, I’m being reassigned?” he asked. The captain simply nodded and handed him the tranfer orders directly from Terra 3. “So, a new ship?” he asked. “Well, they must think I did something right…” he said, no sign of jest in his voice.

The captain smiled and said “Roland was trying to get my position, so you dealt with a problem I was having. For that, I put in a good word. Don’t make me regret it,” he said. “For the glory of the empire, I will serve,” Thomas responded.

“Your shuttle leaves tomorrow, gather your things. And your still my crewmember until that happens. So Fix my GOD DAMN SHIP!” the captain shouted out to him. “On it sir,” Thomas responded and quickly made his way back to Engineering to get the repairs underway, assisting where he could.
