After reviewing Ensign Harris’ plans, Liana took them with her as she walked to the Marine Commander’s office, she hoped Captain Williams was in so they could discuss the details. She had yet to have much to go on with the new commander, but she hoped Williams was a bit more open to departmental coordination than the previous one. She’d come to begrudgingly respect Rose, but she suspected both of them were far too different in their approaches to ever be much beyond cordially professional.

Arriving at her destination, she rang the chime and hoped the good Marine Captain was in.

Ashley was indeed in, office hours always bored her but when she agreed to command she knew she had to have some. Hearing the chime she wondered who it might be. The irony was few marines really needed her during office hours, they settled most issues and Ash just tended to work on roster reports and get all the paper out of the way.

“Enter” She replied, waiting to see who was behind the door.

Williams, Marine CO

As the doors parted, Liana smiled kindly, “Hi, I don’t believe we’ve formally met yet, I’m Lt. Aeliana Cabot, chief of security around these parts. Do you have a moment to discuss a potential collaboration between the marines and security, in the interests of inter-departmental cooperation?”

Ashley smiled as she stood up, Liana wasn’t whom she had expected to see, but it was a pleasant surprise all the same. “Greetings Lieutenant Cabbot, please come in have a seat.” Ashley said as she too sat back down before settling to talk to Liana.

“So, Ms Cabot what do you have in mind? What kind of collaboration are you looking into?” Ash asked her, curious as to just what she was seeking at this time.

Williams, Marine CO

“One of my juniors actually took the initiative to craft a response scenario,” Liana replied, taking a seat across from Ash, “It’s pretty detailed, I have it all here on the PaDD for you to review. It’s going to be a hostage scenario, with joint teams responding and engaging with the intruders, if the intruders make it to Ops and back to the docking bay, they win basically and when we either capture them or they win, we’ll all meet up for a debrief in the armory. I think it’s a great opportunity for our departments to work together and learn how we each function so we can respond more cohesively to threats.”

“I could help, though… we marines don’t do a lot of capture and hold. We do often shoot to kill, we will need to iron out some scenarios that can match Starfleet security standards. I am sure snipers and explosives are not how you had this in mind.” Ash said, with a very small smirk . There were a lot of differences between Marine and Security, protection of live was often one. They protected civilians, and they protected their own. The enemy not so much.

“That’s why I wanted to chat with you about this before we cleared this with the higher ups,” Liana explained, “Our departments need to be able to work together and I think joint exercises can help us understand how each work, but it needs to be a collaborative effort on both sides. In my mind, it will make this station more secure and safer for everybody.”
