Kate blew a noisy breath out of her nose as she tapped on the chime to the counselor’s office. With how short her stint on the Endeavour had been, she felt like she had just been through this process of psychological and medical testing and, frankly, sometimes it felt a little absurdly trivial with what Starfleet Intelligence had required of her. Oh well, she thought to herself. That’ll make this go by all the faster.

“Come.” Came a deep melodious voice from within and as the doors whooshed open Trent would notice the empty desk and chairs immediately across from the open doorway. Looking to the left after entering, Trent would see the Counselor down in the recessed sitting area reached by walking down a few carpeted steps. The entire office was decorated in a beautiful compliment of fall colors. The carpet was rich and thick to walk upon. Chandel could be seen tending to the few plants in the middle of her sand table/garden that sat within the sitting area. A couch and couple of plush chairs surrounded it.

The walls were decorated with a variety of nature and space view pictures that complimented the color scheme.
Looking up, Chandel smiled at Trent. “Please, come in Lieutenant. Have a seat, can I get you a refreshment she asked as she studied the other woman. Her dark, ebony eyes penetrated deeply but with a warmth within to show they were not judging but accepting of who Trent was.

As the door slid open, Kate’s eyes took in the sight in front of her. This certainly wasn’t the type of counselor’s office she was used to, she thought to herself with a smirk. Stepping through the doorway, she made her way down to the sitting area, noting the bounce of the carpet under her slightly heeled boots. Selecting one of the plush chairs, she sank down into it with a nearly audible sigh as she enjoyed the comfort that it offered.

Chandel smiled as the SOO made herself at home immediately. She had a feeling she was going to like this woman, such self confidence!

“A coffee, black, would be great,” she responded to Chandel with a happy smile as she continued to snuggle back into the chair, narrowly resisting the urge to close her eyes for a few moments.

Chandel smiled as she ordered two coffees and brought them over to the sitting area, offering one to Trent before setting her own on the wooden border that encircled the sand garden on her coffee table. She seated herself on the couch and looked over to Trent with a bright smile of her own. On her, her skin was so ebony dark that her teeth were almost blinding white in contrast. Her corn braided hair was tucked up under her elaborate hat that matched her robes.
“Welcome to Magellan, Lieutenant. Did you have a long trip to get here?”

Counselor Chandel

Kate cradled the coffee in her hands, enjoying the warmth seeping through the mug and moving her face forward to feel the smell coming off of it. She smiled slightly and took a small sip before matching Chandel’s actions and placing it on the wooden border, momentarily studying the sand garden with interest. “Thank you,” she responded with a genuine and sincere smile. “It was quite the trip, especially since I had only been at my previous posting for a few weeks.”

Lt Trent, SOO

“Ah? What prompted such a sudden transfer?” Chandel asked curiously.

Counselor Chandel

Kate gave a laugh and a playful shrug as she responded, “the whims of Starfleet?” Picking up her coffee and enjoying another sip, she continued, “the Endeavour was a bit out of character for me, so I assume the powers that be thought I could better serve the Magellan in this capacity. I can’t say I disagree.” Her eyes twinkled as she finished her statement, showing that she wasn’t particularly unsettled by the change of pace.

Lt Trent, SOO

“You seem to be someone who handles sudden change very well, Lieutenant. Where are you from?” She asked curiously wondering about the SOO’s upbringing.
