Ensign Buchanan though for a second and responded, “I will take a glass of water, room temperature. Thank you”. He then waited to see how this would proceed so he could start getting busy with his new position.

Braxton had a full water pitcher already on his desk poured out water into a glass with a serious look across his face and handed the water to Kaden “Ensign there’s a couple things I want to clear things up. This is still Starfleet installation and we still follow the chain of command here and protocols. Another thing is prior to coming in to my office, ring the door chime. Clear?”

Kaden thought for a second before he spoke. “Yes sir. I will not make that mistake again. I am just ready to get started with my duties. I will attempt to check my emotions in check.” He then waited for the Lt to respond. He was curious about what chain of command he did not follow but he did not want to bring it up. He hoped the Lt would forgive him. He then waited for a response.

Braxton nodded “as long as you are aware. I need you to be my extra set of eyes while aboard this installation. If you see something that is awry, investigate it respectfully, and report back to me. We have tons of civilian traffic onboard, so be mindful that not everyone is going to be cooperating with you. I’m gonna start you off with patrolling the lower habitat rings first then go from there. Any questions?”
