Leaving the Infirmary, Avalise was calmer, but only by a bit. At least for the rest of the day, she could focus on other things, other than how much she wanted to punch Gabe McMichaels in the face.

For the next eight hours, the COO went about her job as she normally would, albeit, being mindful of her hand and need to give it time to heal. Every time she felt the anger start to surface, she refocused and found something to do that required intense concentration. For the most part it worked.

Later though, after she had returned to her quarters, she found herself pacing. Alone in her personal space there were no witnesses to her struggles. There was also not much to distract her, and she seemed to still need something on that order. It was frustrating though. Why couldn’t she just let it be?

She decided it was the almost smugness he had in mentioning the one topic no one had a right to insert themselves into. He knew enough, or too much. Did he really know anything at all? Maybe it was some stupid test?

Another twenty minutes passed and Avalise knew she was driving herself crazy. Without even really thinking about it, she made a query. “Computer, what is the location of Marine Captain Williams?”

“Captain Williams is in marine officer gym.” came back the computers reply. This was Ashley’s nightly regiment, where she took control of the gym to just let her work out and get any aggression out of her system. A follow up would let Avalise know Ashley was alone in the gym, as per Ashley’s orders.

Still in her duty uniform, Avalise didn’t even really think over what she was doing before she found herself leaving her quarters.

Winding her way through the station, the Halliian knew only two things for sure: that being alone was not going to result in anything positive this evening, and that if the right opportunity presented itself, she would have to take it.

A few minutes later, she slipped through the doors and leaned against the adjacent wall. She didn’t say anything to Ashley, but her brown eyes spoke of the internal war going on.

Ashley heard the door but didn’t turn around as of yet, she was using a dip bar which kept her back away from the door as she focused on each lift before dropping to the ground. It was clear ash had been burning calories for awhile, she had a soft glistening glow while wearing her gym ware, which like most gym ware left very little to any imagination. Turning she saw a very familiar face, and not one at all she expected. “You know, I thought I was going to have to yell at some grunt for breaking my golden rule of not popping in this gym for my one hour a day I put in… but I must say I am glad you are the one who broke it.” Ash said as she grabbed a near by water bottle as she took a drink and then let some splash her face before grabbing a towel to drape around her shoulders.

“I don’t know, you might regret it,” Avalise replied. Her eyes couldn’t help but trace Ashley’s body and there was plenty that was appealing.

“So, how did I get the pleasure of you coming to see me tonight? Please tell it really is for pleasure and not business.” she said playfully with a wink as walked past Avalise stopping for the most briefest of moments to take a chance to set the tone as she leaned in kissing her cheek before walking past her to sit down on the bench behind them as she let herself rest. “If it’s business tell me we at least get to have drinks first, that always helps me focus on a job.”

Rendana was quiet for a few moments and it would be hard to miss the tension in the Haliian’s face and body. “Definitely not business. In fact I probably shouldn’t be here. But here I am and I figured it was better than sitting in my quarters alone. After all, I’m on strict medical orders not to hit anything and break my hand again today,” she said lifting her right hand and wiggling it slightly.

The tension on her face was clear, and Ashley’s playful demeanor seemed to soften instantly. The pair may not be an item, but she did like Rendana a lot, and from the look of her someone pissed her off. Ashley wasn’t really one to let anyone she cared for, romantic or otherwise, get hurt by anyone. “I think you are right where you want to be hon.” she said in her soft yet still very sultry deep voice as she put the towel on the bench and rose to her feet.

Gently Ash took Avalise hand in hers, looking at it carefully then back up at her she took a deep breath, “How about you follow me home, you have a lot of tension in you, and I very much need to finish my work out. You can help me finish my work out, I can help you release that tension. Afterwards, if you want to tell me more you can, or we can just keep drinking till you forget why you were tense to begin with.” Ashley suggested, being very up front with her intentions, yet seeming to have an almost nurturing tone as she spoke.

It wasn’t a secret between the two they wanted each other, and while the offer was clearly sexual in nature it harbored an almost protective feel to it. It felt like Ash wanted nothing more but to take Avalise into her embrace and shelter her from whatever had upset her.
