Reilly had been on board the Wolverine less than forty-eight hours. “Yep. I need a vacation.” he said to himself as he finished his on-boarding documentation and finalized his check in. Looking around, he knew he should finish his unpacking. Making a face at the crates sitting in the middle of his room, he got up and made his way to the Bridge.

Walking onto the Bridge from the turbolift, Reilly walked to the center chair, currently occupied by an Antican Ensign. “I have the conn, Ensign. Go enjoy Risa for a couple or three hours.” The Antican smiled and said “Absolutely, sir! Thank you!” and he got up and made a line for the turbo lift. Reilly sat down and pulled up the latest duty reports. He then said out loud to the Bridge crew. “All sections, report. What, if anything, do we have cooking at the moment?”

Reilly, XO

“Sir! Risian space traffic control has reported the Captain’s shuttle gone missing.”

GM

Reilly didnt overly react, just whipped his head to the speaker and said “Get them on comms right now! Science and Tactical stations, track the shuttle from departure to where it went missing. Helm, bring impulse engines on line and chart a course for the shuttle’s last known location when we get it.” and he pressed the comms on the arm of his chair. =/\= Commander Reilly to all Senior staff. If you are on board, get to the Bridge now. If you are planetside, report in immediately. =/\=

Reilly, XO

“I’m sorry sir, but all senior staff are not on board. They have already left for Risa via transporter,” reported the Ops NE, “As for your call, it has to route through the Risian subspace network, there may be a slight delay.”

=/\= Risian Space Traffic Control, how many I assist you, USS Wolverine? =/\=

=/\= Yes, the shuttle Sabretooth went off sensors a couple minutes ago, its transponder stopped. The best we can tell is that the shuttle had a complete power failure. I am transmitting you the last known coordinates and trajectory of the shuttle to you now. =/\=

GM

=/\= Copy, Traffic Control. Please clear all traffic between us and the shuttle’s location. And please prioritize our recall of all Wolverine Command staff through your network. Appreciate it, Risa. Wolverine out. =/\=

“Vacation cut short, Rielly?” Commander Erin asked as he stepped onto the Bridge. The Operations Chief had nearly made it to the transporter room before he got the call. Bryson moved over to the Operations station and relieved the NE.

Erin
Operations

“Not as much as the Captain’s, Commander. His shuttle just vanished off the grid.” and he looked at the location sent by the Risian Space Traffic Control. “Helm, set course for the shuttle’s last known location, full impulse. Tactical and Science, full sweeps of the area. Record and prioritize any outbound warp signatures departing from the shuttle’s flight path. Commander Erin, pull the pre-flight checks on the Captain’s shuttle and make sure everything looks as it should, and then see what you can do about getting locations on our crew. If we have to beam them out of a pleasure house in their birthday suits, we will.”

Reilly, XO

“Aye sir,” came the general response. There were nothing unusual about the flight patterns of the outbound vessels, in fact, there were no ships near the shuttle at the time of the power loss. The pre-flight check record would show no problems and that the shuttle had just finished diagnostics and maintenance right before launch.

GM

“Nothing abnormal to report, Commander.” Bryson said aloud. “There weren’t any ships near his shuttle at the time of disappearance.” The Operations Manager sent a message to the transporter chief to begin beaming up essential crew members.

“Anyone in their birthday suits will be beamed directly to their quarters, all others shall be in transporter room 1 once the transporter chief begins.” Bryson announced.

Erin
Operations Chief

OOC: Oh I cannot wait until you beam Petrov from in the middle of a spa message to his quarters without warning. Can we say new enemy to hate and that enemy will be the new XO. Hilarious.

Sidney

OOC: I look forward to making Petrov’s list! LOL

Reilly spun the chair to look at Erin. “Commander, you are absolutely no fun at all.” he said flatly and spun back. “We have anything on the shuttle? Scan for any subspace distortions, chroniton fluctuations… anything. and everything.”

Reilly, XO

Bryson chuckled then looked over at the most recent scans. “I’m sure you’ll get an earful from Petrov at any moment.” Commander Erin said as he began scanning for distortions.

Erin
Operations

Sensors reported nothing, only the shuttle’s registered complete power loss. The only thing remotely close to this would a dark matter anomaly, but those were not typically detectable.

GM

=/\= NE Parker to USS Wolverine. Come in please. =/\=

GM

OOC: I’m hoping by now others have beamed back aboard lol

-Ray

Reilly jabbed the comms and said =/\= Wolverine here. Report Parker. =/\= in a short and terse manner. Looking at the helm station, he said “Overlay our flight path to the shuttle’s last known location on the main screen, Helm.”

Reilly, XO

=/\= Commander, I was the pilot of the shuttle with the Captain in it. We’ve crashed. Captain and I are okay, mostly. Slightly injured, but the shuttle is… uh, submerged. You should be able to locate us based on my commbadge signal. Captain’s commbadge is broken, however. =/\=

About this time Petrov stormed on the Bridge.

“What in the Russian Hell is going on. First you give us leave and then you beam us back without warning. What kind of operation is this? No wait I already know the answer.” Petrov said loudly and walked toward the center chair and not his station. He wanted to know what the heck was this important to take him away from his rest that of anyone on the ship he deserved the most.

Petrov CE

Reilly didnt even turn to acknowledge the outburst. “CO’s shuttle disappeared ten minutes ago, Chief. That’s what happened.” and he swiveled the chair slightly to look at Petrov. “And right now, this happens to be a search and rescue operation. Mr. Petrov, right?” Reilly asked with a slight smile, and then continued without waiting for an answer. “Commander Reilly, the new XO. The faster we search and rescue, the more leave you will have. Amazing how that works, isn’t it?” and he spun back to the screen. “Helm, time to last known point of the shuttle. Science, do we any anything on the scans? A shuttle doesnt just up and dissapear.” and a thought hit him. “Scan for anomalies in electromagnetic fields in that area. Maybe we have a cloaked ship to deal with.”

Reilly, XO

“Nothing sir,” replied Science, “No disturbances, no cloaked vessels, no weapons fire.”

Petrov scowled for a moment and then walked to his station, almost pushing the poor ensign out of his way who was at that post.

Great he thought. That crack pot CO got lost. Well heck maybe he would not be found. At least he understood this new XO. Maybe he would be the new Captain?

Petrov CE

Petrov’s console would show NE Parker’s position, in a remote island off the main resort areas of Risa. The shuttle was submerged, like the Ensign said.

GM

=^= This should be a good story, Ensign. Help is on the way, Parker. You and the Skipper hold tight. Tell me what your situation is. How deep are you? Can you get out of the shuttle if necessary? =^= and he muted the bridge comms so Parker wouldn’t hear.

=/\= We’re on the shore of a deserted island, next to the shuttle, Commander. =/\=

“Can we get a transporter lock and get them out of there? Mr. Petrov, scan the shuttle and see if we have anything to worry about regarding their immediate safety. And see if you can determine what happened from here. Ops, we’ll quiz our two wayward divers once we have them out of harm’s way. If we can’t transport, prep for an Away Team to beam to closest beach with rescue equipment. Helm, put us as close to their position as possible. Comms, let the Risan authorities know we have a downed shuttle and are commencing rescue operations.” and he unmuted the comms.

Reilly, XO

“Would you like to include the kitchen staff in those series of orders?” Petrov remarked about the flurry of orders the new XO blurted out. “As for the shuttle it is not a problem for it to be submerged. It should be fine as long as there is not other damage. If the emergency shields are working correctly they will also function as a barrier. I am scanning now.”

Petrov CE

“Unable to get a lock, Commander.” Bryson announced as he turned to Petrov. “Do you think the shuttle would hold up for a tow if we brought the Wolverine close to them?” Commander Erin was hoping for a quick solution before things got dicey.

Erin
OPS

Neither the Ensign or the Captain were in danger. The computer indicated that a transporter lock could be engaged on the shuttle, the Captain and the Ensign for immediate beam out, but it was said that the Captain disliked transporters. Perhaps Commander Erin, recalling the Captain not liking the transporter, covered by saying a transporter lock was not possible.

=/\= Commander, I believe the Captain would prefer a shuttle to pick us up. I can wait here with the Captain until the Wolverine can send another shuttle to get us or contact Risian authorities to come and rescue us. =/\=

GM

Remy’s voice came over the comm. =^=Commander, you should be able to get a lock on de shuttle. I wan’ it brought back to de ship an’ fin’ out what de ‘ell went wrong. I watched Parker do de pre-flight check an’ everytine was green. Dere was no error on ‘is part.”

Boudreaux (CO)

=^= Better hope I don’t accidentally fuse your molecules with the pilot’s, Captain. =^= Bryson called out, playing on the CO’s dislike of the transporters. “Attempting to lock onto the shuttle and beam everyone to our shuttle bay, Reilly.” Commander Erin said as he got a fix on the shuttle and its inhabitants.

Erin
Ops

OOC: I’m going to wait for the XO to reply back, but I’m giving my Gamemaster’s blessing to beam the ship back on board in one piece without any problems.

GM

“Engage when you can, Mr. Erin.” and he tapped the comms. =/\= Medical Team to the shuttle bay. =/\= and then he stood and started walking to the turbolift. “Mr. Erin, Mr. Petrov, you’re with me. NE Macovrl, you have the conn.” and he walked into the lift as the doors opened.

Reilly, XO

The shuttle was beamed aboard, followed by the Captain and the Ensign into the shuttlebay.
