“Captain, we’re coming up on Risa now. Assuming standard orbit per Risa space traffic control,” replied the helmsman.

Risa. Now finally the CO had made a good choice of where to go thought Mikel. He was not happy with that strange drive still attached to the ship and his engines but as long as it was dormant he could live with it. Black Rock had not been a vacation. Risa, now that was a vacation spot. Mikel knew he had earned it.

The fact he had not put in for the transfer was even a surprise to himself. He rationalized it as needing to show continuity to the selections committee when he did apply for a better posting. Also even though he did not like the CO much he also knew the man could not deny his talent and as such would have to respect that and the fact he did not leave when he could have. He was looking for a heck of a recommendation from the man or a promotion in the near future. Either one would work for him and his goals.

Petrov CE

Remy looked at Petrov and thought for a second he saw a grin on the engineer’s face. Maybe there is a soul in there after all, he thought. after thinking about it some more, he though about postponing the CE’s shore leave, at least for a while. Make up some excuse for the man to stay on board and assist Prefect with extricating the II Drive. No, Remy wasn’t that much of a sadist, but it would serve Petrov right for being the ship’s resident pain in the @$$.

” Mr. Petrov, I tought for sure I would see a transfer request come across my desk before we left Black Rock. Or are you waitine until de shore leave is over?”

So the man wanted to bait him. Mikel was game.

“Reviewing options at this time.” Mikel said matter of fact.

Petrov CE

Bryson silently groaned from his position on the Bridge. While Petrov did seem to have issues with much of the ship’s crew, the man was a dedicated Engineer and a very fine one at that. The XO was hoping the CE would remain on the ship.

Abby looked over her shoulder and the engineering chief. She had only met him talked to him a couple of times during a couple of their mission briefings. She made a note to go set up a meeting with him.

Alita had made all the arrangements for visiting California but would discuss them with Remy later. Akita guessed that the crew already had suspicions or reasons to gossip.

Getting back to the situation at hand, Remy opened the ship wide intercom. “Atten-SHON all personnel. We ‘ave arrived at Risa. Make sure to check wit’ you’ department ‘ead to confirm you’ leave and duty roster while we are ‘ere. Oder dan dat, enjoy de surf, de sand, de sun, an’ everytine else Risa ‘as to offer. Dismissed.”

Addressing the crew on the bridge, he said, “enjoy de downtime people. You ‘ave earned it.”
