Flynn stopped as soon as he stepped foot through the doors of the Mess Hall. Looking at the tables set around the room, bunched in small clusters that were slowly being filled with Starfleet Officers and the short man at the front with a desk where people were gathering to collect sheets of paper and a pen. Some people already had some drinks in their hands. When NE what’s-her-face had invited him to join her in the Mess Hall he’d only said yes because he’d just finished his last shift for his rotation and had thought some dinner, drinks and some company would be a good start to his days off What he hadn’t been doing was planning on participating in what was obviously some sort of Quiz night. As usual his attire was perfect, down to the last lock of his hair. He’d dressed in a casual but smart, pair of clean jeans and a leather jacket. Not a pair of suspenders and a helicopter hat.
He should have paid more attention to what she was saying when she’d asked him to join her in the Mess Hall.
“Fraiser,” the NE came over to greet him, grinning from ear to ear. Flynn’s heart sank, there went all chance of him making his escape and saying he was too tired and invite her to his space for some cuddles. “Thank you so much for filling the space on our team, we would’ve been a player short without you.”
Flynn flashed her one of his winning charming smiles, “I’m at your service. I’m always happy to play prince charming for a pretty face.” he chuckled and then said, “Just don’t expect me to be much of a hero here, I’m just a Security jock, not like someone in an intelligent role such as our lovely doctors and scientists.” noting she was still in her blue uniform but couldn’t remember what role she was.
NE blue laughed, “I’m sure you’ll be fine,”
“With you on my team I know I will be,” he winked, “I’m going to grab something to drink, go sit down and I’ll grab you one as well.”
She smiled, “Alright I’ll see you over there then,” waving in a vague direction, which Fraiser missed as he headed off to join the short line to the replicator to grab them a drink.
Lt. j.g. Friaser Flynn, Security.
OOC: Feel free to join if anyone wants to play, slot in anywhere you like.
T’Pris had heard about the Quiz night event going on that evening and had decided to drop in. She was attired in a set of casual pants and tunic which looked quite comfortable.
~Dr. T’Pris
“Doctor,” An NE T’Pris would recognize from Sickbay called out making their way over to the Vulcan, “A few of us from medical decided to put together a team, we’ve got space if you want to join us. We could use someone with some experience,” He grinned pointing over towards a table at the back of the room.
T’Pris’ brow arched up a bit. “I must admit I have not participated in something like this before but I am not adverse to being of assistance.” She followed the nameless medical ensign over to the indicated area.
~Dr. T’Pris
“Wonderful” the NE grinned, leading the T’Pris over to the medical table, “Look who came to join us,” he called out to the others, “We’re sure to win now,”
The other NE’s turned welcoming T’Pris to their table.
Meanwhile Fraiser ordered his two drinks, a lemonade for himself and a Cranberry Vodka for the NE he still couldn’t remember the name of and walked back over to where she was waving at him. Slipping his Fraiser Flynn smile on his face as he drew closer, he placed the Vodka in front of NE whats-her-name and pretended to listen as she excitedly made introductions between him and the rest of the team.

Dradvia, coming right off her shift and still in uniform, stepped into the mess and stopped. Her eyes quickly scanned the room. It was full, very full. She quickly stepped to the side out of the way. She recognized almost everyone. She saw a table where a group of Medical officers were sitting.
She remembered they had mentioned making a team. They hadn’t pushed. Everyone in medical had been so kind and gentle with her. Dradvia had thought that this was earlier. She thought she would miss it. For a moment she considered skipping dinner and returning to her quarters, but that didn’t feel safer either.
Skirting the edge of the mess and the larger crowd she made her way toward the replicators. Food, obligatory consumption in the mess, and then leave.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
The NE in front of Dradvia turned around, a tray full of drinks and snack food in her hands. Dradvia would recognize her as one of the nurses from Sickbay, a quiet almost mouse like young girl. For a second it looked like she hadn’t noticed Dradvia, but then she stopped, “Dradvia, did you make it after all?” she asked, her voice so quiet that Dradvia could only just hear it through all the noise, “We weren’t sure if you were coming. We saved a space in case you did, umm” NE Estelle paused, “Only if you wanted to of course, or if you wanted somewhere less.. uh busy, my friend’s table is down the back, she’s with that attractive new Security officer” NE Estelle gestured down to the back of the room where Fraiser was sitting.
Lt. j.g. Fraiser Flynn, Security
Dradvia stepped back quickly to avoid a collision. “Estelle,” she said equally quietly. Dradvia picked up her soft voice despite the noise. Dradvia wasn’t looking to stay, but a place farther back and away from the crowd sounded ideal. She glanced back the way Estelle motioned. Her eyes didn’t meet that of the security officer, in fact they stayed quietly down. His expression seemed quite charming, and Dradvia quickly turned back to Estelle with an uneasy feeling in her gut. She would rather sit with people she knew. “Ummm… I’ve never done a quiz night, but if… if you have room, I’ll join you.”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
Salen walked into the room and found a quit table, she was not there to participate, but to act as a grounding rod for Dradvia, she could do her non private work for sickbay anywhere.
Commander Reya Salen
“It’s easy,” Estelle smiled, leading Dravida over to where the medical team were sitting, “There are five rounds, each round has a topic the questions are related to. Then there is this extra question that gives you extra points you get more if you answer it in the earlier round. At the end of the round the team with the most points wins. Don’t worry if you don’t know the answers, the fun is in the trying.”
Dradvia smiled shyly. “I’ll do my best.” She saw Cmdr Salen come in and take a seat near the back. Dradvia looked over the group she was joining. Medical mostly. At least these were people that she was familiar with.
As they approached their table there was a chorus of greetings for Dravida as the medical staff shuffled over to make room for Dravida and Estelle. “Now, now,” Estelle said to them, settle down, “We can’t understand a word any of you are saying,” She looked back at Dravida with an apologetic smile, hoping their over-enthusiasm hadn’t upset Dravida.
NE Estelle
Dradvia shook her head with a half smile. She answered as people said hello, but it was so quiet Estelle was louder than her. After a few minutes, before the trivia started, the door opened several times. Dradvia noticed each time. The last leeched all the color from her. “Ex…excuse me. I’ll… I’ll be right back.” She stood, leaving her tray and disappeared into the crowd. (OOC: Please ignore Dradvia. Since I’m taking over the XO spot I am taking her off the ship and this just seemed like a good place to remove her. Continue on as if she was never here. LOL)
Shedda, the newly minted XO of the Wolverine entered the lounge, holding a very small girl on her hip. A very muscular yet older man was with her. She was laughing with him as they looked around. She wandered over to a table near the back where Frasier was sitting. “Room for a couple more?” she asked. She was out of uniform and this seemed like a good time to get to know the crew before things became official.
Cmdr. Mal’athar, XO
Fraiser stood up and stepped to the side. His boyish and handsome face smiled charmingly and gestured to the seats behind him, “Please join. Everyone is welcome here,” He leaned forward and stuck his hand out to shake, “junior Lieutenant Flynn,” he introduced himself, “But since we’re off duty, it’s just Fraiser, and these are..” he looked over at his date, NE Whats-her-face, and smiled at her hoping she’d get the hint and introduce herself for him.
“Cmdr Mal’athar,” she shook his hand, her grip stronger than Flynn would have expected, and she was being careful. She moved into the seats, the large man with her taking one towards the outside of the group. He needed the extra shoulder room.
“NE Tamara,” she introduced following Fraiser’s movement to offer her seat to the First Officer and her company. The other two introduced themselves as NE Fre’r and her husband NE Kaplin.
Lt. j.g. Fraiser Flynn, Security
Shedda shook each of their hands, ignoring the fact that man didn’t bother to directly introduce anyone but himself. “So, Tamara, Fre’r and Kaplin, and Flynn,” she repeated their names. “It’s a pleasure. This is my father, Melul, and my daughter, Maava,” she said lifting the small child from her father’s arms after taking her own seat and settling the baby on her lap. “It’s very full,” she said looking around. By her guess about 2/3rds of the crew was here. So much smaller than her last posting. “Are these popular events?”
Cmdr. Mal’athar, XO
As the Melul and Maava were introduced, Flynn gave each a respectful nod and one of his classic charming smiles. “This would be my first one,” Flynn replied, “Tamara,” he filed her name away so he wouldn’t forget it this time. He didn’t want to look foolish in front of First Officer. “She invited me to come along, and I’m glad she did,” he smiled over at the NE who blushed clearly taken in by his looks and charming smile.
Shedda smiled at Tamara, “It’s always nice when people make new comers feel welcome. We all remember those first days of every posting, but not everyone will reach out,” she complimented Tamara.”
Fre’r leaned forward, “They tend to be, I think everyone likes to get out and socialise and compete. Especially between departments. Just about everyone that aren’t on shift like to turn up.”
She laughed, “Well nothing wrong with a good friendly competition.” None of them were wearing uniforms, and she knew, having reviewed the crew files, but it was important to ask. “So which department are we playing for tonight?”
“What about you Commander?” Flynn asked, “Were there many events like this on your previous posting?”
Lt. j.g Fraiser Flynn, Security
Mal’athar turned to Flynn as he spoke. She paused to gently disentangle Maava’s small fingers from her hair before answering. “More than we could keep up with. I was stationed on the Manhattan before coming here. We could fit several Wolverine’s inside of her. There was always several events going on.”
Cmdr. Mal’athar, XO
“My father was a Captain on a large ship like that,” Flynn said and stopped as a Bolian man stepped up onto the stage and tapped the mike causing a screeching noise across the room.
“Good evening, ladies, gentlemen and everything in between. I hope you’ve had a chance to get all the food and drink before NE Whi drank the ship dry.” Laugher arose from the table that Whi was at, as his friends jeered and patted him on the back sportingly. “It’s wonderful to see a great turnout again. Many old faces but it looks like I can see few new faces aboard. Welcome aboard and welcome to the Wolverine Quizzical, greatest quiz competition in the galaxy.”
A few tables at the front howled and the Bolian paused until they died off.
“For all of you that haven’t been to one before we have 5 rounds. I hope you’ve all brushed up on your knowledge; our first round is the cute, the cuddy, the downright scary… it’s animals. Our second round is StarFleet history. Then we’ve got some geography. Catagory four is games and last but not least is Music. And of course Guess that Officer, the earlier you work out who they are then the more points your team will get. At the end of each round your runner will take their teams answers up to the table for T’spen to calculate”
“I’ll be starting in five minutes so if you haven’t got your team name submitted yet and your pen and paper at hand then now is the time to get it.”
Fre’r stood up, “I’ll go up and grab our sheets and a pen, you guys can sort out a name for us,”
“Do you have any suggestions Commander? or yourself Melul? Since you are our guests, we’d love to hear your suggestions first,” Friaser said, fixing his charming smile on the older male this time.
