Areas of higher asteroid density produced intermittent sensor loss and reduced data quality as electromagnetic interference, shifting gravimetric fields, and the constant movement of the surrounding asteroids compounded over time. While the projected data return remained well within acceptable scientific parameters, maintaining continuous coverage of the entire survey area would require further refinement before deployment.

T’Pris studied the simulation results as they populated the central display, reviewing each projection with characteristic precision before turning her attention to Lieutenant Buchanan. “The initial analysis has produced encouraging results, Lieutenant.”

She adjusted the holographic display, highlighting several regions of the asteroid belt where sensor coverage fluctuated.

“The proposed telemetry network is projected to function throughout the survey area. However, the simulations indicate progressive performance degradation within the denser regions of the belt. Electromagnetic interference, localized gravimetric fluctuations, and the continual movement of the surrounding asteroids combine to reduce sensor fidelity and produce intermittent gaps in telemetry.”

A series of probability curves appeared alongside the deployment matrix. “Despite these limitations, projected data acquisition remains within acceptable scientific tolerances. The network should provide sufficient coverage to support our search objectives. Nevertheless, maintaining continuous surveillance across the entire operational area will require additional refinement before deployment is authorized.” She regarded the engineering officer with a slight inclination of her head.

“Lieutenant Waban’s recommendation to isolate the environmental variables before introducing compound effects has proven… beneficial. It has allowed Science to distinguish which performance losses are attributable to individual hazards and which arise only when those hazards interact.” Her fingers moved across the console, marking several buoy positions for revision.

“I intend to adjust the deployment geometry to reduce the burden on probes operating within the highest-interference regions. Once those modifications have been incorporated, I would appreciate Engineering conducting a second series of simulations to verify whether the revised network improves long-term stability and sensor retention.”
T’Pris folded her hands behind her back once more.

“For the present, I believe your department has provided Science with precisely the information required. Your team’s assistance has been both timely and… efficient.”

Kaden looked up to T’Pris from what he was looking at on his screen, “I am still awaiting information from engineering about the simluations and what they provided. I am going to reach out to them again.”

Kaden was annoyed at the fact he had not hear back from his engineering team. He hit is badge and said, =/\=Chief Buchanan to engineering, have there been any updates on the simulations as of yet? Please provide the details to the science lab.=/\= He then waited for a response. He was confused on why it seems it was taking a while to get a response from them.

T’Pris inclined her head slightly in acknowledgment as Lieutenant Buchanan reopened communications with Engineering. “That course of action is logical, Lieutenant.”

She returned her attention to the sensor deployment model, making several subtle refinements to the buoy spacing based upon the preliminary simulation data already available. Probability matrices shifted incrementally across the display as she adjusted projected coverage within the regions of highest interference.

“Science will continue refining the deployment algorithms while Engineering completes its analysis. Utilizing this interval efficiently should minimize the time required for our next round of simulations.”

Folding her hands once more behind her back, the Vulcan stood in composed silence, her attention alternating between the evolving telemetry projections and the engineering status indicator, patiently awaiting Lieutenant Waban’s report.
