“Ensign, keep me posted,” David conceded. “Whenever you need to take a break, just let me know. I can let the XO run the bridge for the next few days.”Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer“Yes, Sir.”
“Morris.” Sisnil said. “.....just be careful.” He wasn’t sure why, but he felt like something was off.
~ Zoi
It was roughly 10 hours later when Morris received a call from Sickbay asking him to return.
Dradvia was standing beside the biobed, where the readings showed Sisnil was in bad shape. His vitals were not good, erratic, and his pain levels were beyond tolerance. He was arguing with Dradvia over a PaDD she had taken from him.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
David was there in less than 5 minutes, every bit the picture of a CO in his uniform appearance. He joined the two at the bedside, glancing over the vitals and readings himself.
Commander David Morris
Commanding OfficerSisnil had his arms crossed. As soon as Morris entered, he reached for the PaDD again. “Give it, Dee, I need to do this, now.”
~ Zoi
Dradvia was watching his vitals and pulled the PaDD out of his reach. “Sisnil, stop.” It was firm and cut through the craziness. “I’ll give it to Cmdr. Morris to handle. Your making the poison work faster. I’ll have to sedate you.” She could barely contain the worry she felt.
She looked at Morris as he entered. “Cmdr. Morris.” She turned fully to face him. “Mr. Zoi needs your help in creating some documents. Given what I know if the poison and the people who use it, I agreed to call you. Mr. Zoi isn’t in any condition to do this himself.”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
“I’m inclined to agree. Brief me.” David set into the much colder, sharper persona that defined the grey ops CO half of himself - the one Sisnil had seen in bits the first time they met. He hated to do it, but it got results. “What do you need built?”
Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer“I need to do this,” Sisnil argued, still reaching for the PaDD like a child having a sibling fight. “Setting this up,” he had to pause, he was near frantic but his physical state took a toll on him, “takes my expertise.” Morris had never seen him like this - but Sisnil felt his twin’s life was in danger. That, mixed with his pain and exhaustion created the panicked, frantic person who would put himself at further risk illogically.
~ Zoi
“Get me started and I can finish it,” David suggested. “You’re in no state to do it yourself, and if you try, you’ll only end up making yourself unable to do anything. Either way, I need to know what’s being built.”
Commander David Morris
Commanding OfficerSisnil gave David a look David would be familiar with. It said, how much does he REALLY need to know? He was in so much pain, it was like his body was on fire from the inside out. He felt weak and tired but without the assistance of a specific kind of sedative, the echtallin poisoning made it virtually impossible to fall unconscious. “If my suspicion is right, if my attackers find out I didn’t die they could go after my brother.” He said, breaths between some of his words. “I need to get into the official files and report my own death. And it has to be convincing. I mean flawless.”
~ Zoi
“Starfleet files? I can do that easily enough,” David said. “I’m your CO, and I can fake the autopsy convincingly, especially with Ens. Dradvia’s assistance.”
Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer“I’ve already made the files, Cmdr.” Dradvia knew all about how the echtallin worked. They could even say they couldn’t identify the poison until it was too late, and still make everything believable. She’d seen it first hand. “It’s all here on this PaDD.”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
“It’s the Syndicate,” Sisnil insisted, “There can be no mistakes. You have to let me do this.”
~ Zoi
“Yes it’s the Syndicate. No one else knows that better than me,” Dradvia said. “You are not a doctor. I am. They will look at the medical records, and if they don’t read precisely correct, it all falls apart. You need my signature and the COs. You’ve done your part. Let us do ours.”
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
“It will be convincing,” David assured. “This was actually something they trained us to do. Noril won’t be in danger.”
Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer“Let me look it over, then,” Sisnil insisted. “I can’t risk Noril’s safety. I can’t.”
~ Zoi
“You can look, but only for a minute to avoid strain.” David handed over the PADD, locking the document from edits for the time being.
Commander David Morris
Commanding OfficerSisnil took the PaDD and read it over. “You locked editing?” He said, accusingly, looking at David.
~ Zoi
“You’re welcome to mention anything to change, but if I gave you full access the Ensign and I would likely never get you resting again,” David admonished gently. “I’m still a doctor first whenever I can afford to be.”
Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer“I don’t need rest, I need to protect Noril,” Sisnil said, not thinking logically. His biobed readings were getting worse as he pushed himself.
~ Zoi
“Dradvia, 35cc Melorazine and 2 of Terakine,” David asked after a quick glance at what was already in Sisnil’s system. “It won’t knock you out entirely but I need you to not strain this much. I promise you on my oath as a Starfleet Officer I will not allow your brother to come to harm if I can stop it. And you won’t do him any good if you’re in a coma in this biobed for several weeks.”
Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer“I’m sorry, Cmdr. Those medications won’t work with the Echtallin. It will only exacerbate the problems. He can’t have anything more for pain. I can only give him Pavacin for sleep.” Dradvia prepped the hypo and gave it to Morris.
“Thank you,” he acknowledged both the hypo and the warning, turning back to the bed-bound Betazoid.
Sisnil wouldn’t admit he couldn’t focus well enough to really critique the information. There was too much pain, he was too out of it. But he didn’t want to be put to sleep either. “No, Dee, please don’t,” he huffed out.
~ Zoi
“I’m sorry, Sisnil. Your body needs this. You can’t keep going like this.” She knew he hated it, but he wasn’t going to survive like this.
Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer
David carefully injected it into the side of Sisnil’s neck. “We’ll see to it this gets where it needs to, and once she clears you, that you’re kept informed.”
Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer
Sisnil tried to pull away, but he was too weak and it didn’t work. “You don’t understand.” He said to Morris. “There’s a good chance I won’t wake up.” The meds were fast acting, and he blinked hard as he suddenly felt sleepy. His heart rate started to drop.
