Greng had left the USS Ajax about 5 hours ago and was already restless being cramped in the runabout. The runabout Apollo was cruising at Warp 3 and was headed in the general direction of the USS Wolverines last known position. Greng was handed a mission brief that only said, ‘Find the USS Wolverine and ascertain the crew and ships condition. These instructions didn’t divulge the mission the Wolverine was on, just find it and report.

Greng sat back down in the helmsman’s seat and said, =^=Computer =^= and waited a moment for the computer to respond. After a moment, Greng started dictating his log. =^=Stardate, 2401.3.28, person log. Have been on this course for five hours with no sign of the USS Wolverine. I do not know what to expect when I find her, but my blood is surging hoping for glorious battle=^=. With that, Greng insured the sensors were set to maximum range then sat back in his chair and waited.

Lieutenant Commander Greng

OOC: Greng is not the XO yet as he has not found the ship

Just tagging in the GM!

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer
OOC: Thanks. I have been away with work, getting to everything now!
IC:

The sensors showed a warp trail, not very old, heading in the direction of the Melania system. It was a small system, little used or taken note of by the Federation.

GM Budgie

Greng saw what the sensors showed and adjusted his heading to correspond with the readings and continued at Warp factor 3.

Greng pulled out his Bath’leth and started sharpening it while he thought about what he would find in the Melania system.

Lieutenant Commander Greng

The runabout continued on its leisurely course following the warp trail. After some time, Greng would probably come to the conclusion that he would probably have to increase speed if he were to catch up to the Wolverine.

GM Budgie

Greng knew he needed to move faster and increased speed to Warp 5.0, the max sustainable rate in the Fulcrum Class Runabout he was piloting.

LT Commander Greng

The ship increased speed instantly, fortunately for Greng the Wolverine had, had to slow its speed recently. This gave him the chance to catch up to the ship. The Wolverine eventually came into view.
=^=USS Wolverine to Runabout. State your intentions.=^= A voice came through over the comm.

GM Budgie

Pretha stirred in the back of the small spacecraft. Two days they had been looking for the Wolverine. Hearing it hail them now, she frowned. The voice hit her off key. Maybe it was just the fact she hadn’t heard anyone but Running her hand on the back of her neck as she stood, she shook her head, letting her loosely contained tresses sway behind her absently. “Sir…” her voice cut into his thoughts. “Moving to sit in the other seat, she smiled. “Would you like me to announce your arrival? You deserve a little pomp and circumstance after nearly three days cramped up in here with me.

The incoming XO of the Wolverine, and her, had been companions on this trip. He had never divulged his orders to her and she had no way to know this was anything other than a routine station change. They had found common ground in discussions of battles, bat’leth, and other other weapons. Klingon’s had always bore a fascination from her that bordered on jealousy. Sure, women were in the Federation in security positions, like herself. But in the Klingon culture they were given their due. If they were able, they were treated as such.

As they had endured the boring, cramped, trip, she had come to a level of respect and fondness for the man beside her. Her hand went up to push an errant brunette hair behind her ear. Crystalline green eyes looked at him.

Lt JG Pretha Oberon
Security Officer

“That is fine Lieutenant,” Greng replied, “Remember, I am not the Executive Officer yet, and we do not know why we had to find the Wolverine.” Greng understood the human emotion of joy when something good was happening but He was still on edge not knowing the full picture of what was happening with the Ship and her crew.

LT Commander Greng

Pretha nodded and responded to the hail =^=Runabout Argona to USS Wolverine. Lieutenant Oberon shuttling Commander Greng on board. Both reporting for transfer.=^=

Pretha closed the hail and turned to Greng with a look on her face that was a cross between confusion and curiosity. “So we weren’t going to the Wolf, we were looking for it? Something tells me there is more to this than I bothered to question, Sir. May I ask what the situation is and if I need to be a bit more ready than I am?” Her hand went to her hip as her chin nodded to their belongings in the back of the cabin. She was indicating a possible need for her phaser.

OOC: For the sake of moving this along I’ll do just that, but feel free to reply to each other above this
IC:

=^= Proceed to the shuttlebay. =^= The voice replied, the hail was then abruptly cut off. Not the welcome Pretha and Greng had envisioned.

The runabout closed with the Wolverine and entered the shuttlebay, the whole process was over before if began. The doors opened and a man stood ready to greet them. He was dressed in a marine uniform and had the pips of a Captain. He was middle aged but well built despite this, not letting his age diminish his physique. He had short grey hair and a bushy moustache. He smiled and looked a little shocked when he saw a Klingon, but that passed within moments.
“Welcome to the Wolverine. My name is Captain Horatio Lionel Von Stephens Hilderbrand the 3rd. I apologise for the abruptness, we’ve had a bit of a situation here. I’m sure you’ll want a full update?” He asked holding out his hand for the newcomers to shake.

GM Budgie

Pretha had been talked out of arming herself. But she had it at the rest on the top of her own bag, held closed by the handles. Out of habit, she had stepped in front of the Commander as the door had opened. She still didn’t like her gut feeling.

“Captain,” she nodded in respect and stepped aside to let the Commander step up. “Lieutenant J.G. Pretha Oberon. New security officer reporting for duty. This is Lieutenant Commander Greng.”

She let the Cmndr speak for himself at this point. Whatever information the men chose to share with her, at this point, would be up to them. She was new, and probably not fully trusted, yet. Pushing an errant hair behind her ear, she relaxed a bit and looked around the bay. Anyone with an eye for it would know she was trained well. Chances are, an hour from now she could still give detailed report of everyone and every thing in the bay at her arrival.

It didn’t make her feel any better. Captains didn’t meet shuttles. Something was going on.

(On high alert)

Greng scanned his surroundings before replying, “Sir, I am Lieutenant Commander Greng. We were sent to locate this ship, and as the Lieutenant has mentioned, Captain’s normally don’t meet random shuttles, and I know that Commander Morris is the Commanding Officer of this ship.”

LT Commander Greng

Pretha had heard Greng’s uneasiness and watched him shift position. Most would think it normal fidgeting that happened when taking to someone. A shift to get more comfortable.

Greng was Klingon. They didn’t fidget. As he commented on the ranks, Pretha absently shifted her bag, looking to everyone who saw that she was tired of carrying it. But if Hilderbrand was half as good as what his rank suggested, he realize her opened bag was now easier to access with her empty right hand.

Hilderbrand saluted at Greng on hearing his rank.
“Sir, I’m a marine Captain. That is the equivalent of Leftenant.” He explained smartly and simply. No hint of sarcasm in his voice. His voice betrayed his disappointment in that. Greng and Pretha could take that to mean that he was dissatisfied at being just a Captain in his middle years.
“We..... err. We currently don’t have a Captain on board. We had an XO but..... he too has gone missing.”
“Both unrelated I’m sure. The Captain has been captured. By Romulans.” He stated simply.
“I’m sure you have lots of questions. We should probably do this in the conference room on the Bridge. Sir?” Hiderbrand asked.

GM Budgie

When the Marine Captain explained, Pretha relaxed just a little. She wanted to hear the story and hoped, as she pushed errant hair behind her ear and looked around a little more intently now, that she would be privy. It was a long shot. But perhaps if she stayed silent enough, she could tag along on Greng’s wake and find out what was going on. From the horse’s mouth, so to speak.

Lt JG Pretha
Security

“Ah yes,” Greng replied, “Let us move to the conference room.” While the walked, Greng continued, “Have all key staff report to the conference room also.”

LTCDR Greng

Pretha fell into step behind the officers. But as they got the door of the bay, she absently shook her head. Neither of them would have seen it, thankfully, as she spoke up.

“Thank you for the greeting, Captain, Sir. But I should probably find my room and begin my check ins.” While part of her missed being in the key position of knowledge and information, she wasn’t now. And pretending she didn’t consider that probably wouldn’t endear her to either Officer.
