The PaDD was what she was most worried about. “We can replace them. Should… do you want me to call security. Have them look for the person?”

Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer

Sisnil frowned in thought. What was least suspicious? Having them look or not having them look? He couldn’t think clearly. “I.... don’t know.”

~ Zoi

Dradvia had to file a report anyway. She wasn’t sure what to do. “That’s okay. I’ll take care of it. Are you still hot?”

Dradvia tapped her combadge. “En Dradvia to Cmdr Morris. Could you come to Sickbay please, Sir?”

Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer

=/\= “On my way,” =/\= came the immediate response. It was less than 45 seconds until David walked through the sickbay doors, a PADD in hand. “I got a report there was a medical emergency transport? What happened?” he asked before the doors even closed, beelining for Sisnil’s biobed.

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

Dradvia stood from where she was sitting beside the biobed. “He was stabbed. Whatever they used was laced with echtallin poison. It’s quite deadly and extremely painful. I’ve started him on the antidote, but…” Well she didn’t know. “He needs about 3 infusions of blood, but the surgery went well. It’s the poison I’m worried about.”

Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer

“I’m fiiiiine,” Sisnil said from the biobed, putting on a tough face because of Morris’s presence. “You’re not here because I got stabbed, you’re here because my PaDD got jacked.”

~ Zoi

“Both are important,” David said. “I’ll need to know exactly how much access you had on it you weren’t supposed to,” he glanced up at Dradvia, “but at the moment, tell me what you know so far about the poison and attack.”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“Nothing about the attack itself. The puncture wound was made by something serrated and very sharp. Echtallin poisoning is meant to be cruel. It attacks the nerves. Over stimulates them and causes extreme pain as it slowly workes through the central nervous system. Most pain killers don’t work and it stops the body from producing melatonin so the person can’t sleep. It can last 4 to 6 days before the heart gives out from the pain or the nervous system and brain stop working.”

Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer

“A knife. Klingon knife.” There was some bruising around his throat from the chokehold the man had him in. “I don’t know how long it was, but the man basically ran me through with it.” Sisnil was more than glad to avoid the question of what he had access to.

~ Zoi

“A former associate?” David asked. “You’ve already started the antidote, you said, Ensign? I take it by your tone you have concerns, however?”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“It’s tricky, Sir.” Dradvia began, “Five doses a day for four days. If the dosage is off at any point, too much or too little it won’t work. It’s a very nasty substance, Cmdr. I saw the results be… before.” She didn’t want to scare Sisnil. He was scared enough.

Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer

“No one I know.” Sisnil said. “It’s not a substance we use often, either.” He wasn’t sure what to think right now. He was still processing the attack himself. “Dee, tell me.” He ordered.

~ Zoi

There was too much testosterone for her. Cmdr. Morris and Sisnil demanding information and trying to be in charge made her nervous. “If the dosages aren’t correct,” she paused for a breath, “permanent nerve damage, stroke, traumatic split personality. It effects the nervous system and brain.” She didn’t want to say it. “You… you could lose your telepathy or it could become agonizing to use it.”

“Oh.” Sisnil said softly, unable to hide how terrible that sounded.

“You have my permission to have your only duty be the administration of the antidote until it’s been fully treated, with a day of rest after,” David immediately offered. “And if at any point you are too exhausted and fear for your ability to continue to give doses on time, I’m willing to swap out with you. We should just be in empty space for a week or so.”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“Yes Sir, Cmdr.”

Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer

David paused, catching the increasingly overwhelmed behavior from the medical officer. “Alright, take a breath. We’ll treat this and Sisnil will be fine,” he assured calmly and at a lower volume. “At this exact moment, there’s nothing we can do to further the treatment, right?”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“His body temperature has to be watched. The poison, the damage it does to the nerves causes the body to forget how to regulate it’s temperature and then it over compensates. Sudden high fevers to dangerously low internal temps,” she explained.

“Understood. Is that something we expect to alleviate as the antidote does its work?”

“Once there is more antidote than poison in his system it should start to change.”

Sisnil eyed the commander. He looked too tired and weak for a real fight. “You’re gonna sit here with me all night when I can’t sleep?”

~ Zoi

“Yes.” A question asked to Morris, but she answered. Not for Morris, but because of nerves and anxiety making her uneasy about not answering.

Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer

David’s own “yes” was almost simultaneous with Dradvia’s, if slightly less emphatic.

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“Don’t you have better things to do?” Sisnsil complained in his usual fashion.

~ Zoi

Too nervous to roll her eyes, Sisnil could still feel her slight exasperation. She had to check on Simon at some point, and she had promised not to leave him alone. Why not Morris?

Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer

“I believe I just assured Ensign Dradvia I did not,” David smiled. “And I am responsible for you, and whether you believe me or not, care about you.”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

Sisnsil shrugged. “Whatever.” He said tiredly. He just wouldn’t sleep while David was here. He was better than some random doctor, Sisnil decided with a small sigh.

~ Zoi

He had to sleep eventually or risk psychological damage. Like it or not he would get the sedative eventually. But that was going to be a problem for another day. Someone had to be with him until he was better. Changes happened too fast with this poison.

Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer

“Now, while you’re lucid, I need to know how much access you had open on that PADD,” David sighed.

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“I’ll track it down.” Sisnil said. “I can manage my own problems.”

~ Zoi

David gave him a look akin to one a parent might give a recalcitrant teenager. “I don’t doubt that, but you’ll be bedridden for the next four days at least. I’m not opposed to your help, but only once your health permits it.”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“Nah, give me another few hours, I’ll be up at the least.” It was utterly absurd, born from a need to not look weak or vulnerable.

~ Zoi

Stubborn. He was putting the people on the ship at risk. He was putting HER at risk. Whatever else was on that PaDD there was information about her, now in the hands of the Syndicate. If they weren’t already gone, they would be in an hour. They would know she was alive and where she was.

Panic swamped him as Dradvia’s eyes darted rapidly about as if expecting them to come out of the bulkheads.

Ens. Dradvia, Medical Officer

“Do you think I leave sensitive data open for the taking?” He looked between them. He grabbed the bed remote and set it so he was sitting up more. It hurt, but this was important. “They would need Noril to breach that PaDD.”

~ Zoi

“How certain of that are you? And either way I need to inform Command, was the PADD breached at all under your encryption?” David was standing closer to the bed controls than Dradvia, and lowered the bed back down almost immediately. “You can converse without causing yourself undue pain.”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“Come on, gimme that,” Sisnil complained. He’d reach for it, but literally every movement was pain. “I tell you that, you could get us both in trouble. How certain am I? Why do you think I’m still alive? Because no one, and I mean no one can do what I can.”

~ Zoi

“Whether I include details in my report or not, I am responsible for the safety of everyone on this ship. I need to know how much info was on that PADD,” David fixed Sisnil in a perfectly calm, yet intense stare.

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“On it? Nothing. That I could access with it? That’s what you should be asking.” Sisnil commented, then took several slow breaths. “We done here?”

~ Zoi

David checked the vitals display quickly, the returned his gaze. “As soon as I know that information, I’d love to let you rest. But personal concern aside, I have a moral and ethical obligation to know how much is at stake if someone ends up better than you.”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“No one. is better than me. There’s nothing on the PaDD itself. They’d have to board the ship and use my internal exploits.” His vitals held steady, but like Dradvia had said, his temperature was high, yet his body was shivering. His indicator for pain showed despite the meds he was still in quite a lot.

~ Zoi

“Good,” David conceded. “But yet is the key word - just because nobody’s beaten you doesn’t mean nobody can. Get some rest - you’ve got a good deal of healing to do.”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“I’ll be fine.” Sisnil brushed him off. “It’s been ten years and they haven’t got anyone better than me. I’m pretty secure in my position.”
