David walked out of the ready room, the exhaustion and stress of the first mission fully under his command evident in the circles under his eyes. “Ops, please obtain clearance to depart from Starbase Operations. Helm, plot a course to the Ragnar, prepare to take us away from dock at 1/4 impulse and engage at maximum warp.” He settled into the command chair. =/\= “Attention all hands,” he announced, “We are preparing to leave spacedock. Please secure your belongings and take your stations.” =/\=

“Clearance obtained, sir,” NE Olson at Ops reported. Here we go.

“Disengage docking clamps. Helm, 1/4 impulse on my mark,” he paused, “and mark. Take us to the edge of the system and engage.”

Alita watched as the departure was smoothly handled by the helmsman. She was very proud to be the first officer of this ship. Hopefully, she would be old and gray and still serving her. Perhaps, as the ships chef.
