It was three nights after their previous night time meeting. Sisnil still wasn’t sleeping at night. He paced his quarters, read, watched media, paced the halls, explored the ship.

David had said he could talk to him if he couldn’t sleep. But he didn’t really want to talk to him. But he was bored out of his mind. He could bother the Commander for fun, couldn’t he? Yeah, that was a good idea. “Computer, contact Commander Morris.”

~ Zoi

The computer chirped, and a moment later, David answered. “Yes?” He sounded exhausted and somewhat asleep, but alert enough that he was functional.

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“Sisnil. You said I could call if I wasn’t sleeping.” Sisnil said into the comm. “Wanna meet in my room?”

~ Zoi

“I’ll be there in two,” David said, and the channel cut. A minute and a half later, the chime to Sisnil’s quarters chirped, David evidently being quite fast at dressing and navigating the ship.

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

Sisnil opened the door and let him in. The door slid shut behind the Commander. He was dressed, in the same thing he’d worn that day. He looked really tired. “You showed up.”

~ Zoi

“I did.” David was wearing mostly his dark blue and grey pajamas, on top of which he’d thrown on his uniform top and a combadge. “I take it you haven’t slept?”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

Sisnil shook his head. “Sounds like I woke you.” He commented, sitting in a chair in the quarters’ living space. He was ‘listening’ mentally, to David as much as physically, for his emotions, thoughts. Not maliciously, looking for anything, but out of habit, as if searching for connection.

~ Zoi

“Not that I was sleeping particularly heavily,” David brushed it aside. A good deal of his thoughts were muddled together, drowsy and overlapping, but he was being sincere in not being bothered. “So what’s up?”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

Sisnil shrugged. “I’ve slept collectively three or four hours in three nights, guess I got bored of sitting around alone.”

~ Zoi

“Have you been to see Dr. Tessan yet? If not, I’m still licensed - that is how we met, after all - and this sounds like cause to have you take a sedative in order to get rest. That’s really not healthy. But for the time being, what would you like to talk about or do? I’m willing to bet the holodeck’s free if you’d like, or we could just sit and talk.”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“You made my appointment for tomorrow,” Sisnil pointed out. “I would rather you than anyone else, but honestly, a sedative worries me.” He commented. “As for what to do…” He shrugged, “I was just bored.”

~ Zoi

“Right,” David laughed, “Sorry, tired. Let’s wait till after that and I’ll confer with him. As for tonight, why don’t we just sit and talk?”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

Sisnil nodded. “Whatever you want, boss.” He said with a shrug. “Not sure what you want to talk about.”

~ Zoi

“Anything, honestly,” David said. “How’re you finding the ship so far, aside from of course it not being your ship?”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“It’s fine. For not being my ship.” Sisnil replied with a shrug. “It’s way bigger, with way more amenities, obviously.”

~ Zoi

“How are your quarters?” He glanced about to see if anything had yet been personalized. “If you need anything in here, let me know. If it’s reasonable, you can have it.”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“They’re quarters,” Sisnil replied. “All my things are on my ship. Remember?” He shrugged. “It’s fine. I don’t know what I’d put in here anyway.”

~ Zoi

“Some foliage or something?” David suggested. “You don’t have to add anything, but most do, even the Vulcans. And these are your quarters indefinitely, so make them as comfortable for you as you can.”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

He let out a chuckle. They’d see how indefinite it was. If it was up to him, it wouldn’t be long. “You want me to grow a plant? Or light a candle? Pass.” He said with a snort.

~ Zoi

“Like I said, you don’t have to. Have you generally found everything around the ship?”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“Yeah, more or less.” Sisnil replied. As uninvested as he wanted to be, it would be stupid not to know his way around.

~ Zoi

“Good,” David said. “What sort of music do you prefer?” he suddenly switched thoughts.

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“Anything with a good melody to it,” Sisnil said. “But honestly I’ve never been huge on listening to music.”

~ Zoi

“How do you typically spend what free time you have? Maybe I can set up something, whether it be an onboard event or a holoprogram.”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“Can you put my crew in a hologram?” Sisnil asked sarcastically. Then he shook his head. “No, it’s fine. I’ll… I don’t know, read. Or maybe program myself something. You know, my ship has a holodeck. Suprising, I know.”

~ Zoi

“Well, let me know if there’s anything you need,” David said. “I know it’s certainly not an easy adjustment. And yes, it is mostly my fault.”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“Yes, it is.” Sisnil glanced at him, “You were doing your job. Can’t fault that. Doesn’t make me less angry, either.”

~ Zoi

“We can find a way for you to contact them. I’m not sure how, but I’ll work on it,” David offered.

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“You’ll forgive me if I can’t trust you with a way to get to them,” Sisnil replied. If he let David help, and David found a way, Sisnil could lead the Federation right to them. He wouldn’t do that. “But I do appreciate the offer,” he finished with a sigh.

~ Zoi

“Fair enough. Make sure even if you’re still processing everything and adjusting, you’re eating, hydrating, and taking care of your mental health as best you can. And seriously, ask for something to help get sleep. It will help with everything else.”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“Tomorrow.” Sisnil said. “Can’t promise I’ll use it, but I’ll ask.” He nodded, “If I let myself waste away, I can’t protect myself. I’ll be fine.”

~ Zoi

“It’s a small ship. Find me or anyone from medical if you need to. We’re not a Galaxy or Sovereign-class, we don’t have what amounts to a small flying hospital aboard, but we do have a full medical staff and a sickbay. Which I imagine is more than you’ve had to get by with. Point is, if you need help, it’s only 5 decks away at furthest and rarely that. And there’s almost always more than enough people.”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“We had basic supplies and a medic,” Sisnil said. It was a far cry from a fully equipped med bay with fully trained personnel. But it was better than others had - nothing. He couldn’t trust anyone here, so he was unlikely to ask for help. But he nodded anyway. Arguing was pointless.

~ Zoi

“The people in medical do genuinely care,” David caught the quickly-hidden distrust. “And they likewise aren’t going to tell people about anything unless strictly necessary.”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“Forgive me for believing it when I’ve seen proof of it.” Sisnil said. It was the same reason he couldn’t trust David’s promise to help him contact his crew - Starfleet would be Starfleet. As the Syndicate demanded his loyalty, so too did Starfleet of its officers. He would expect them to act accordingly.

~ Zoi

“I can’t entirely fault you for that, but to slightly misquote, ‘We’re not trying to harm you - we’re trying to help you.’” He sighed. “I can’t speak for everyone in the fleet, of course, but I’ve met just about all the medical officers onboard by now. I don’t believe any of them would betray their oath to do no harm.”

Commander David Morris
Commanding Officer

“I can’t fault you for believing in your crew. But I require firsthand proof of that.” Sisnil said. “And once the rest of the crew finds out I’m Syndicate - and they will find out, that could cause problems.”

~ Zoi
