A few weeks after the Wolverine arrived at Starbase 277, Commander Morris vanished off onto the Starbase for a few hours, leaving the XO in charge. This in of itself was not particularly odd, as he’d been involved in several meetings, briefings, and social events since taking command while the ship was in dock - the unusual bit was that he returned walking to the left of a salt-and-pepper haired man with Rear Admiral’s pips and the gold piping of flag officers, both of their faces somewhat grave as they talked in subdued tones. Upon the pair’s arrival to Deck 1, they crossed immediately to the conference room, the door closing behind them before most anyone had registered their appearance. A moment later, an announcement went out to each of the senior officers: =/\= “Senior Staff, please report to the conference room.” =/\=Commander David Morris
Commanding OfficerTealor stretched up from his desk he had spent the last few hours looking through the personnel files and the notes made from the previous counselor and chief medical officer. “Here we go” he mumbled under his breath.
Quickly he made his way to the conference room, the doors whisked open, he instantly noted the Commander and the rear admiral in the room. “Sir, Admiral” he said entering the room, nodded at both of them then moved to take position on the side of the table. He continued to stand though as he was not sure how tight protocol was on the ship.
Dr Tealor Tessan
Chief Medical Officer U.S.S Wolverine“At ease,” David waved him down, rising back to his feet from the seat he’d taken to the admiral’s right.
Alita had indeed noticed their arrival but thought nothing of it at the moment. She knew that if she was required she would be sent for. When the announcement went out, she quickly secured the bridge and made her way to the conference room. Entering she nodded at the doctor, and saluted the commander and admiral before taking a seat.

David returned Alita’s salute, then gestured to her. “Admiral, Lieutenant Commander Claire, my XO. Commander, Rear Admiral Nelson, Black Fleet Command.”

Commanding OfficerRemy sauntered into the room, casually, until he saw the admiral. Then he stood a little straighter..
“Chef militaire Morris, Amiral Nelson,” He acknowledge using his Cajun dialect. He nodded to the others and took his seat at the table.
“It is good to see you again, Amiral. An’ I jus’ wan’ to tank you again, for acceptine my request to rejoin de Wolverine. Who say you canno’ go ‘ome again, no?”

Admiral Nelson smiled gently, softening the stern expression he’d held since boarding. “It was good to be able to bring an officer home, Captain.”
Celador quietly slipped into the room, taking a look around as he did.
‘One of your Admirals are here.’ Squared stated to Cel as they observed Admiral Nelson.
‘I don’t think we’ve met him, so keep an open mind.’ Cel replied mentally as he moved to his seat.
‘I will if he does.’ Squared said sharply to Celador’s thoughts.
Cel took his seat and waited for the briefing.

Cel’s arrival drew a slightly raised eyebrow from Nelson - apparently, the paperwork David had filed hadn’t yet crossed his desk - but after an exchanged glance with the CO, his expression returned to neutral, if somewhat grim.
The door slid open and the new Tactical officer came in. She looked quickly around and saw the Admiral and Captain and stood tall and straight-backed. “Lieutenant McCallister reporting, Captain. Admiral.” and she quickly found a seat next to the Security Chief.
McCallister, Tactical
((OOC: Post above this line to not be late!))
David sat as the door closed behind the last of his senior officers. “Everyone’s here, Admiral, when you’re ready.”
Admiral Nelson stood up and crossed over to the display. “Good afternoon,” he began. “For the past several months, Starfleet Intelligence has been investigating a group calling themselves the Romulan Imperial Saber - an imperialist faction who believes themselves the true inheritors to the Empire. They’re aggressive, but small, and we didn’t consider them a particularly large threat. Until this week.”
The admiral paused for a moment, keying up an image of a Bajoran Commodore, dressed in an Intel uniform. “Three days ago, the Ragnar experienced a brief loss of main power and a slightly longer sensor failure. Upon bringing systems back online, they found that Commodore Oper Keme, the head of the project, was nowhere to be found. An investigation of their sensor logs from immediately before the incident showed a short flash of something with a Romulan signature, but not enough to identify it.”
He turned off the monitor and returned to the table, sitting immediately to David’s left. “Your mission is to pick up the trail from what we have so far, find Commodore Oper, and return her to Black Rock. All the data we have on this group and their potential whereabouts has been transmitted to Captain Boudreaux, as well as Commander Morris. Be discreet - we don’t want any word of this incident getting out - but be effective. Not only is the Commodore a personal friend, she has top-level clearance and has been briefed on things most of the fleet hasn’t even theorized about. Accordingly, I’ve assigned you a Marine detachment to accompany your new refit. They should be aboard within the hour, and then you are to make best possible speed to the Ragnar’s position when Commodore Oper went missing. Are there any questions?” He looked around the room at the assembled senior staff, the frown beginning to return.
