Kelleher stepped out of the Armadillo Class shuttle that had ferried him over to the Wolverine from his ride out to the donkey end of nowhere. He wasn’t a small stature man, being tall and solidly built like someone who ate whole chickens for breakfast and hit the gym for R&R, but not overly buff or musclebound.Rather flamboyantly dressed in a loud, colorful shirt and wearing sunglasses he paused at the bottom of the short ramp, pulled those sunglasses down slightly so he could look over the top of them revealing grey-green eyes, and looked around the area. His free hand had dropped a large duffel bag on the ground and the other seemed to be holding a box of glass bottles by a cardboard handle, which audibly clinked when he walked.
Finishing his survey of the landing bay, he spread both his arms wide causing the bottles to clink, and shouted. “Honey! I’m home!” To everybody and nobody in particular. “Someone give me a hand with the jukebox would you? Maybe get a grav sled? Gotta be gentle with her, she’s an antique from Starfleet’s formative years!”
Lt Cmdr Kelleher
OOC: Open thread, feel free to join and welcome the Ops manager.
Evan wasn’t sure to be impressed or annoyed with how this Commander introduced himself. Either way, it wasn’t his job to judge a senior officer on how they carried themselves. The Cadet had one job, and that was to bring the new Operations Manager to the Captain in one piece.
“Commander Kelleher, I’m Cadet Sterling,” Evan said approaching the man. The Cadet’s attention was momentarily disturbed by the sound of an Ensign accidentally banging the grav sled onto the side of the shuttlecraft. He made a mental note to let the Quartermaster know that they had another craft in the bay, as it was already full with 3 as is, but a fourth would diminish a lot of walking room.
“The crew here will take care of your things, while I take you to your quarters to change into your uniform,” Evan said, coming to a stop at the the edge of the shuttlecraft. “The Captain is expecting you in a half hour”.

4th Year Cadet“He can wait,” Kelleher waved a hand as if the CO wasn’t that important. “The crew here isn’t touching this juke box. I saw you smash that sled into the shuttle. Trust me, your daddy doesn’t have enough saved up to pay for the repairs on this thing if it gets busted.” Grinning, he turned around and moved to one of the cargo hatches on this slightly modified shuttle, built for carrying a little more freight that normal at the expense of a person or two.
Evan turned to the team with the grav sled, rolled his eyes, and then waved them off. “I’m sure someone can use the transporter to get it to your quarters, Commander,” The Cadet assured him, “Unless you’re afraid the wires might get crossed.”
“If anyone so much as targets this Jukebox with a transporter beam, I will disassemble them and assign each body part to a different duty on deck myself. This is an authentic 20th Century Wurlitzer 1015 Jukebox, not once has it been tarnished with its atoms scrambled by a transporter beam, so it is 100% original and genuine, and, priceless. Are you hearing me Sterling? Price-Less. It even has original coin slot equipment that still works.”
“Besides, Starfleet regulations say I am not required to be in Uniform unless I am on duty. I cannot be on duty until the ships CMO has medically approved it. I don’t think anyone really takes much notice of the CNS thing anymore though, you know. But trust me, I’m pretty sane.” Popping the hatch open he looked inside and the grin turned into a light, friendly smile. “There you are baby, did you miss me? Come to papa.”
There’s no way this man isn’t getting a psych eval.... Sterling thought him himself as he turned back from the crew.
Without as much effort as it should have taken a normal person, Kelleher pulled out a Juke Box that looked like it was straight out of one of the old 20th Century movies that were popular in certain circles. “Slide that thing closer Sterling, but try not to run me over, please? I value my legs. Tell me about the CO, does he drink? Smoke? Collect gentleman’s magazines from Tentacle Monthly?”
Kelleher
“Um, I don’t know, Commander, maybe?” Cadet Sterling replied as he stared at the jukebox. “Lieutenant Garcia is expecting you in Sickbay, sir”. Evan had a schedule to maintain, so if Kelleher wasn’t going to meet the Captain, he needed to get his physical with the CMO. “Lets leave the unloading to the crew, and get you cleared by our medical team”.

4th Year Cadet“You’re no fun, do you know that Sterling?” Kelleher grinned and placed the Juke Box gently down on the sled, before taking position behind it and gripping the handlebars. “This comes with me, by the way,” he pointed at the sled carrying the Jukebox. “If we have no time to drop it by my quarters, then the good Doctor will just need to make some room. What do you listen to? It’ll eventually be installed into the crew lounge, consider it my gift to the Wolverine.”
Kelleher
“I’ve listened to a few classics from the 2360s, Commander,” Sterling said as they began their journey from the bay and into the turbolift. The Cadet moved a bit to the side for the sled to have room in the lift. He wasn’t too sure how the CMO would feel about it being brought to her Sickbay since it was so small, but they had a timeframe to follow, and he didn’t want the Captain to wait too long.
“I’m sure our Intel Officer would love it too,” Evan replied once they all were in the turbolift.

“Everyone is going to love it. Trust me,” Kelleher turned his head to the Cadet. “This thing was installed aboard the S.S. Sojourner back when the NX-01 Enterprise was still in nappies, and before that it did time on the original Jupiter Station. It in itself is a slice of history, Cadet.”
The doors opened and he pushed the sled out into the corridor, the low hum of the grav repulsors filling the walkway with its’ familiar buzz. “Whats’ your specialty, Sterling?” Logan asked as they walked. “Babysitting the new Operations Chief is sure an odd one.”
