Alita was able to fish out what she thought was all of them with only a couple of close calls - one where a stray gloop of plasma was ejected and scored across her visor - partially melting the plate but not all through. Still the suit did register a micro fracture and slow loss of oxygen, the message scrolling across her display with a countdown of oxygen remaining. Her first tug didn’t yield success, though she did find one more cable that was attached amongst the mess of them already detached.

As Alita continued to work, Basil did his best to assist with interference as she worked to get the necessary equipment free.

Petty Officer Baker, Tac/Spec

That was a job. While gravity was null there in effect so that any ejecta that occurred tended to go in any direction. Baker had to keep himself clear as well as things off Alita .. something that became greater an effort as more of the conduit corroded away.

OOC: Hey, guys! Sorry for the absence. Was finishing up the latest script of my comic coming out next year and needed to step away to focus on that. But should be back now!

Remy’s humor belied his true concern for Alita. He stood near her feet, ready to pull her out of the crawlspace in case of an emergency. His gaze kept going from Alita to the components they had collected in a pile. There had to be some useful information in there somewhere. That’s why he wanted to get it back to the Wolverine, let engineering, science, and ops go over it all in a more conducive environment.

There was also the issue of the cavern behind the Jem’Hadar ship that needed investigating . . .

At last the unit came free into Alita’s hand …

“Hell yeah, that is how we do it on the Wolverine!”

With that done Alita slid down wanting to get as far away from that situation as possible. She knew that her suit was registering a microfacture and blinked a few times to be certain she was reading correctly.

“Boudreaux, Baker, I need to get the hell out of here. My suit is registering a microfracture and I’m losing oxygen. So let’s go. Get these components and I think we’re done.”

Baker’s eyes widened slightly at Alita’s announcement of her suit being compromised and immediately moved to help her get out. As he did so, he radioed back to Ensign Black on the shuttle to beam them and the components out of the ship.

Petty Officer Baker, Tac/Spec

The transport would go through fine .. Alita would note on her internal displays that her oxygen levels were descending, but that she would only be in danger should there not be transport out within the hour. Still, until then she could faintly hear a thin whistle of air escaping ..

He turned to look at Baker and conyinued. =^=Mr. Baker an’ I are goine to investigate dat cavern. Maybe we can fin’ some clues dere, too. We’ll return soon in de Gambit.=^-

Boudreaux (Intel)

Baker raised an eyebrow at Boudreaux and then turned to Alita for confirmation. It was obvious that Boudreaux seemed to be in command in some way here, but Baker didn’t know exactly how he fit into the hierarchy of the ship. In his mind, until told otherwise by someone of proper rank, his orders still came from Lt. Commander Claire. And personally, that’s how he’d prefer it stay.

Perhaps Remy forgot that he was a civilian here, Alita knew he had been put in charge of this part of the mission but couldn’t help glaring at him for a few seconds.

“Yeah, that works. Stay safe, I don’t want to lose you again dammit.”

Alita quickly scooped up everything and made her way towards shuttle baker.

With the orders given, Baker turned to Boudreaux and said, “Lead the way, Mr. Boudreaux.”

Remy contacted the Gambit, and gave the order for he and Baker to be transported 5 meters past the nose of the Jem’Hadar ship (assuming that will place us inside the cavern?).

A brief moment later, he and Baker had materialized in the cavern with a alien ship at their backs. . . .

Baker looked around as much as his suit allowed him. He hated the limited movement these things gave. He drew out a phaser and looked to Boudreaux. “Ready when you are Mr. Boudreaux.”

The duo would need to use personal thruster accessories for this trip as the cavern was spacious and if there were hand holds and the like or anywhere at the moment to walk it was farther along. Dark, visuals through their visor display showed slightly greenish tinted walls of a silicate like composition, rough hewn in places, natural in others.

As they thrusted further along and past a bend they noted four hard point weapons emplacements that, when scanned, were low power energy weapons combined with quite high power tractor beams. They showed up as a diamond shaped black mass standing out from the lighter colored stone, or so the sensors in the suit would define them. They were in all four quadrants .. left, ceiling and floor of the cavern. There was one further curve beyond that, one more such hard point looking straight at them. Scans would show no energy signatures from either.

However, there looked to be a hint of a railing starting just before the bend and just past the hard point emplacement.

Remy looked at the weapon placements and sighed. “De weapons look to be inactive. I believe it’s safe to proceed,” he said as he began moving forward.

OOC: GM, is the cavern large enough that the Jem Hadar ship would be able to maneuver through the tunnel?

Totally so. There did appear to be some .. changes to the cavern with the entire asteroid becoming unstable but the ship could still easily move about in here.

Beyond the cavern opened up further. Smaller rocks moved about here dislodged from an ugly scar that fractured the cavern almost in two, almost like an earthquake at a fault line. That said, there was no other vessel there but the cavern had berths for three such ships as they had seen. Each was accessible by a companionway that snaked its way along the wall of the cavern. Each berth had an accompanying metal bay door that could house a shuttle or, in all likelihood be for resupply.

Baker looked about the space and gave a low whistle. “Looks like they were trying to set up a base here. Not a bad idea, except that the planet is so unstable. I wonder if perhaps the Jem Hadar are responsible for the seismic anomalies of the planet.” Baker turned to Boudreaux, “Shall we head on?”
