So the barmaid’s actions produced nothing more than amusement. “Oh, I’m sure he missed you terribly,” Ayla said with a grin. Just because she wasn’t jealous, didn’t mean she couldn’t have some fun.

When Tika realized Remy was returning her kisses in earnest, she stopped and dropped to the ground. She looked at Remy and then turned her gaze to Ayla as realization set in. “Remy, aren’t you going to introduce me to your . . .friend?”

“Yes, Remy, aren’t you?” Ayla said sweetly, the mirth in her voice unmistakable.

“Computer, pause program.” Immediately, the scene froze at Remy’s command. He turned toward Ayla, his cheeks flush with red. “Cher, I am sorry. I ‘ad completely forgotten about dat part of the program. De las’ time I ran it was waaaaay before I ever met you and. . . .” He paused and noticed the grin on her face.

“Uh, huh…”

“You enjoyed seeine me flustered, didn’ you?”

Finally she laughed loudly. “Immensely! It’s good to know that even the great Remy Boudreaux can get flummoxed from time to time,” she said with a wink. her expression softened. “Just remember that while we haven’t discussed it yet since I came to the Wolverine, my open mindedness from the Saracen still exists. I’ve not changed in that way. It’s all about communication and consent.” She eyed the frozen holographic image for a moment and then impishly looked back at him. “And what happens on the holodeck, stays on the holodeck.”
