Baker walked into Sick Bay and started to look about for the CMO. He’d just been assigned to the Wolverine and needed to get his medical clearance to report for duty. As he looked about, his face turned down into a tight frown. He called over one of the medics to see if they could help him.
“Excuse me, he said, his Glasgow accent turning his S to Sh, “Could you help me find Dr. Locksley? I need to get my medical exam done and was told to report here.”-Petty Officer Baker (Tac/Spec)
“Well, you came to the right place. Lily,” she extended her hand. “Bed 6 is open,” she gestured as she grabbed a PaDD. “Welcome aboard. Where did you come from,” she asked making conversation as they moved to the bed. Lily liked check-ins. It was a way to get to know new people.

Basil smiled and headed over to the indicated bed. “Just transferred in from the Husqvarna.” He said taking a seat, “Pleasure to meet you doctor.”
Petty Officer Baker (Tac/Spec)
“Husqvarna,” she nodded and then made a rhinnnnnnana sound with her mouth that sounded like a chainsaw starting or motor running. “Sorry,” she let out a laugh. “There are times I think I am funnier than I am but at times these ship names just make me smile. They are either poetic like Atlantis or Genesis or battle ready like Broadsword, Wolverine or…Husqvarna. Anyway,” she extended her hand with a broad smile still covering her face. “Welcome to the Wolverine. Did you have a nice trip over here?” Lily loved check ins for the most part. It gave her a chance to meet the crew in a relaxed setting.
Basil chuckled at her joke, “I suppose your right. But they all need to be called something, and they can’t all be great.” Basil took her and and shook it smiling, “I had a pretty fair crossing. I look forward to working here.”
Petty Officer Baker (Tac/Spec)
“The ship is great. You will love it here. So you are tactical. Tell me,” she pretended to put on a serious expression but the edges of her mouth curled up enough to give it away. “What is going to be faster. You tell me all your past histories or I get two bottles of beer, we put our feet up, and let me read the novel.” Security, tactical, and engineering were high fliers in sickbay due to the nature of their job. In order to protect the crew, security and tactical were always sustaining injuries that saved other crews life. She had learned long ago that those that protected the crew came with a file that rivaled a medical text.

Basil gave another laugh. He thought he was going to like this doctor. He’d likely be seeing a good deal of her on this ship. “Well, to be honest, it’s more novella at best. Not as thick as you might expect, but I’m not one to turn down some drinks if you’re offering.” He gave her a wink and smile before chuckling again.

“Well, I am always offering beer never wine.” Lily punched a few buttons on her pad and looked up. “Before you start raising an eyebrow as to why a nice girl like me doesn’t fit into the I love wine trope its because wine is gross and does nothing but give you a hangover. Now the more redneck and less respected cousin in the alcohol family aka beer,” she said looking up, “has more protein and B vitamins than wine. Although it has fewer antioxidants and flavonoids than its high maintenance and snobbish cousin,” Lily leaned against the bed behind her, “which is wine, beer has B vitamins, phosphorus, folate and niacin and even high levels of calcium and magnesium. So next time you are on shore leave and drink too much you can try the excuse that you are taking your vitamins and minerals as security hauls you away. Fifty-fifty shot on if it will work or not. Maybe sixty-forty because you belong to the same profession as those hauling you away.” Lily could not help but like the new guy on the crew. He was easy to talk to and did not fit the classic mold of a hard-nosed by the book officer who only focused on his career or someone terrified of doctors who she had to hunt down like she was a lion stalking a gazelle on the Serengeti.
“So what is your poison Basil,” she asked.
Lily Locksley CMO
“Well,” Basil smiled at her leaning back on his arms in the bed, “You certainly know your drinks Mam. Me, I’d not turn down a stout Guinness when offered. Especially not when I can say it’s on doctor’s orders.” Basil chuckled. She was a good doctor, Basil thought. He might have to work on expanding his medical file while he was onboard.

“So when we are talking a good Irish stout are you talking about the kind that is so thick you can float a coin on the head of the draft or the good Irish stout that makes you groan with one eye open and one closed as you say kinda bites you back.” Lily used a deep voice and facial expression to drive her humorous point home. Basil was easy to talk to and far more fun than the average patient that walked in. He had an easy going charisma and charm that made her smile.
Basil smiled and said, ” The answer to that question is ‘Yes’.” He laughed and leaned back gainst the bed.
“So Baker, Basil, tactical petty officer,” she used his formal title with a slight grin, “what do you do for fun?”
Lily Locksely CMO
“That depends on the company,” Basil said with a smirk before shrugging into a more casual demeanor, “Generally, when I’m looking to unwind, I usually settle down with a good book or a rather engaging piece of music. Or, if I’m in a more physical mood, needing to burn off some energy, I like to fence. Take some swords into the Holodeck and have at it. Wouldn’t be surprised if my little hobby doesn’t get me in to see you more than actual missions.” He chuckled at that before asking, “What about yourself, Doctor? What do you do after a long day in sick bay?”
