What was happening to his crew, Remy thought? This can’t be the same thing that happened to Cel and Alita. That was something to do with the transporters. Ayla and Bryson had come back to the ship through the docking “bridge”.

Over his shoulder, he called to the helmsman. “Plot a course for dose coordinates, but hold posi-SHON right ‘ere.”

“Aye sir, course plotted,” said the helmsman.

Moving back to Ayla, he said, “‘Old on, cher, medical is on de way. . . .”

Arms resting on her thighs, Ayla was breathing through the pain as best she could. With the chaos immediately after their return and the need to get the coordinates, they had missed a crucial step. She could only hope it wasn’t a fatal mistake. Though at the speed of the symptoms she couldn’t imagine having gone directly to medical would have made a great deal of difference.

As the lift headed towards the bridge Alita took stock of her situation. Everything was coming at her all at once. She knew people’s thoughts, feelings, even what they wanted to have for lunch the next day if she didn’t concentrate on blocking it out so it was time to keep that under wraps and tell absolutely no one.

Stepping onto the bridge she looked around hastily.

“Just let me work. Send me back an you might not get anyone qualified up here for a while.” she stated.
