“How dare you. How dare you stand there, look me dead in the face and lie to me, Molly Grace. I worked my entire adult life… to protect this company… our FAMILY’S COMPANY… for you to walk in here and build a goddamn BRIDGE for them!? Practically giving them an office in the building I BUILT to look after you and Erin after I’m gone?!”

Two and a half years ago, Lucas had accidentally discovered that Molly hadn’t retired from Starfleet Intelligence. Worse, that after the attack on his life and her involvement on Ashley Newton’s demise, Section 31 had come knocking and she had accepted the job. He, better than anyone, knew the price tag attachments like these came with, so when Lucas had pushed the HHI Personnel Form for Extended Absences into her hands, the words ‘Indefinite Sabbatical’ already filled in, Molly had taken it without protest.

“I expect that on my desk tomorrow morning. You… you need to get your priorities straight. You need to think, th… think very hard, about where your loyalty truly lies, Molly.”

For six months, those had been the last words she had heard from Lucas. From what Molly had been able to perceive, the news cycle had been tightly managed, with the reason for her sudden absence thankfully never disclosed. According to what Cal had told her though, on OED, rumors of a disagreement between HHI’s two senior officers on where to take the company’s future had circulated briefly, but the true reason had never seen the light of day.

Still, it would take six months for Molly to stumble upon Lucas one night as she took an evening stroll on the Brooklyn Bridge. Her uncle taking a brief moment of respite from company business by visiting his brother… her father’s memorial.

That night they talked, made a much needed truce, and Molly returned to her job, only this time, she stayed in New York City. She did not ask Cal about the news cycle this time, so she was not aware of what transpired in OED, but as far as she could tell back on Earth, the main business outlets hadn’t cared too much about it. Holloway Heavy had been steady for many decades, the markets had no reason to believe it wouldn’t be the case, and the tabloids hadn’t deemed the story dramatic enough to exploit.

Her return to OED had been different, however. Her arrival on the planet, combined with a few major decisions Lucas had pushed into Molly’s plate, had made speculation run wild on whether Lucas himself was getting ready to retire. His romantic involvement with the company’s COO hadn’t been far off the presses either, so it seemed that the younger Holloway’s return had been the spark that had lit up the fire. Lucas had even given an interview for the New Economist when a few clients started to ask a few unpleasant questions.

So Molly was perfectly aware of the whirlwind surrounding her when she walked through Sacred Heart’s main doors. A few faces turning in her direction as she approached the front desk. She was carrying four small paper bags and a magazine rolled under her arm, the New Economist’s unmistakable red frame peaking from the rolled up sheets.

“Excuse me.” She said in a low voice and with a polite smile on her lips to the first person available at the reception desk. “Is Doctor Fayth in?”

The man looked up from the desk and smiled. If he knew who Molly was, he was too professional to make anything of it. “She is here today; let me call up and see if she is available.” He didn’t ask for the name; Dr. Fayth has an open-door policy for anyone who needs to see her. He was on the comms for a moment. “Of course, Dr.” He turned back to Molly. “She is with someone, but will be done in about 15 minutes. There is a cafe down the middle hall there if you would like to get something. To get to her office, take the lift for the central wing to the 5th floor. It’s halfway down on the left.”

Dr. Fayth, DoMSS

“Thank you so much.” Molly had always appreciated the staff at Sacred Heart. They were always warm and welcoming, and incredibly accommodating. Ever since she had taken the job at Holloway Heavy and had become a more prominent figure, that she felt that a lot of people would bend over backwards for her once they knew who she was, or at least made a big fuss around her. Lucas seemed to be used to it, and sometimes even indulge in the attention. Molly on the other hand, hated every minute of it – both from a personal standpoint, and from a Starfleet Intelligence standpoint. The staff at Sacred Heart, however, always made her feel like she was back in her previous life. It was yet another thing she was incredibly grateful for.

So she had fifteen minutes to burn, Molly noted mentally. She had just eaten breakfast before coming in, so she skipped the stop at the cafe, and instead made it straight to the lift.

The ride itself didn’t take but a moment, and finding Dr. Fayth’s office didn’t take long either. With some time to spare, Molly spotted a line of chairs, and she took the one at the end. Placing the paper bags next to her against the wall where they wouldn’t be in the way, Holloway unrolled the magazine and opened it, making sure to roll the cover back so her uncle’s prominent interview picture was hidden from sight. Turning to the article she had started to read that morning, Molly waited. After all, she had time.

Molly didn’t have to wait long. It was right at 15 minutes before the door to Fayth’s office slid open. A man stepped out and made his way down the hall. Then Fayth stood in the door way. Her medusa like curls slightly tamed by hair bins. She was wearing the purple Sacred Heart scrubs and a lab coat. “Molly! What are you doing here?” She smiled at the woman stepping toward her. “Are you who was asking to see me?”

Dr. Fayth, DoMSS

With a smile, Molly rolled back her magazine, grabbed the small bags and walked towards the doctor. “Doctor Fayth.” She said warmly. “Yep, guilty as charged.” There was a cheerfulness in her tone that hadn’t been there the last time the two had seen each other. In fact, the Molly standing in front of Fayth seemed in much lighter spirits, almost as if the two years she had been gone had renewed her somehow. In fact, as an empath, the doctor would not only be able to see it, but to feel it as well.

Sharah smiled. She was so glad to feel how well Molly was doing. She stepped back and waved toward her office door. “Come in, have a seat. I’m so glad to see you.”

“I just made it back to OED and I wanted to come by… I made it planetside for Christmas last year, but didn’t really have the time… I uh…” For a moment, a slight blush made it to Holloway’s cheeks as if she was embarrassingly searching for words. “I have been meaning to bring you, Dr. Eraras, Nurse Ilena, Nurse Temple, and Nurse Crockett, a few things for a while, but I never found the occasion…” She was clearly nervous now. “I never really had the chance to thank you and your team for everything you did for us back when…” Molly’s tone trailed off, and for a moment, a heavier look settled on her features, only to disappear again. “And I decided that I couldn’t postpone it any longer. Though honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to thank you enough.”

Having followed Dr. Fayth into her office, Molly took a seat as offered.

“You are healthy and look very happy. That is thanks enough. Truly. Often we don’t get to see what happens to our patients after they leave our care, and we are left wondering and hoping.” Sharah smiles widely and genuinely. “Are you back on Oed permanently or just visiting?”

Dr. Fayth, DoMSS

Molly smiled. She felt happy. It had taken a while, but it finally felt like things were finally falling into place. “I don’t worry so much about my health, as I worry about Calvin’s and my uncle’s. And four years ago, if it wasn’t for you and your team, Dr. Fayth… they wouldn’t be here today. I will forever be grateful for what you did for us. I wish I could find the words to tell you exactly how much it means to me and… all of us.” Molly paused, for a moment, before moving on to Sharah’s second question. “I was hoping it was temporary. We have been expanding our operations in New York City, back on Earth.” Fayth would know that by ‘we’, Molly had meant Holloway Heavy Industries. “I’ve been working there these past few years, but… for as much as it pains me to admit… my stay here might be more permanent than what I had anticipated…” She sighed. “Calvin loves his work with the CCDA… and I would hate to make him leave that behind because of me. My uncle is here… and now my sister has moved back too… so…” Molly shrugged with a smile. “It seems that I’ll be staying for a long while. But enough about me.” Holloway continued warmly. “How have you been, Dr. Fayth? I hope Calvin hasn’t given you too much trouble while I’ve been gone?” She chuckled.

Molly Holloway, CEO Holloway Heavy Industries

Fayth listened as Molly talked. She hoped that Molly was able to find happiness here, but she had a feeling Molly didn’t like to stay still for too long. “Calvin has been good for the CCDA and the workings of Oed. He’s not given us any trouble other than the normal.” Sharah smiled, “Call me Sharah, please. As for me. I’m doing really well actually. I’ve retired from Star Fleet, and I took the job as head of Sacred Heart. And Charles, Yavia, and I are getting married.”

Dr. Fayth, DoMSS

“Oh my God!” Molly’s face beamed with a genuine smile. “Congratulations!” During her time away from OED, Calvin and Molly had kept a consistent communications channel. They had to, or the distance would have proven too much to bear. The former Marine had briefed her on occasion on the goings on of their mutual friends and acquaintances, but somehow, the fact that the trio was even seeing each other had been lost in the sea of information. “Do you have a date yet?” Despite what her job might make it look like, Holloway was not the best at small talk, but she felt like this was quite the safe question to ask.

Molly Holloway, CEO Holloway Heavy Industries

“Not yet,” Sharah said, flushed with happiness. “Charles’ family is here for a visit and Yavia and I are trying to get our families here. Then we’ll pick a date. We would like then all to be here.”

“We’re thinking maybe in the next sixth months. But that also depends on when we can all get leave from work.”

Dr. Fayth, DoMSS

Molly smiled warmly as Fayth spoke. The doctor’s experience couldn’t be more different than her own, but Molly also knew that she wasn’t the most “normal” of people when it came to a number of things. Her and Cal’s wedding had been one of them.

Depending on how much Calvin had let on during the previous six months, or how much Sharah kept up with certain tabloids, she might have known that the couple, who had been engaged for years, had finally tied the knot less than a year ago, shortly after Christmas. It had been an incredibly small ceremony on board the HSS Cavalier, with only a select few members of their families. If Molly was being honest, the only thing that had kept her from insisting that they should elope, had been the certainty that both Lucas and Erin would kill them both when they came back.

Still, she nodded. “Do you have a location in mind already?”
