A few days after Cort brought the sampler of tea into the office, Eela found herself with a rare block of time that wasn’t already filled with meetings, or reading and writing reports. She strolled through the Square, a cream wide brimmed hat on her head. They may not have weather per say on Oed, but what they did have was a lot of sun. Always sun. She couldn’t wait for the day when they all got to feel those first rain drops. It was going to be glorious. She was also having one of those rare days where her body was feeling good, no one at the office wanted to scream at the insanity, and she found her grief was less intense. Enough so that she was finding more and more ways to bring small joys into her life. Hence this visit.
Striding at a relaxed pace in a leaf green faux-leather skirt to her ankle, the striking piece had floral cutouts all over from just above her knee to the hem, making the leather look like lace. She paired it simply with a short sleeve black sweater with a modest V-neck, and a pair of black ankle boots with a low wedge heel.
Shifting a black shoulder bag on her shoulder, she peered up at the sign of the business she had sought out and smiled. With a deep intake of breath, she stepped in.
Removing the hat, she carried it in one hand and looked around the shop. Her black wavy hair was loose today, showing the few streaks of silver that had taken up residence and she had embraced. The empath was immediately taken the atmosphere of the shop, noting the energy here was grounding.
“Hello,” she said before anyone could greet her. “I’m looking for a Talen Veyl?”
~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.
A young man happened to be walking by when she spoke up. He rather timidly gestured to the counter where a trill man stood behind the counter packing a bag of tea for one of the guests in the shop. As soon as he saw Eela glance that way, he moved on with the small tray of teas he had been carrying.
The shop wasn’t bustling, but people were about.
Talen happened to glance over briefly catching Eela’s eyes. He turned back to customer before him, smiled, and quietly thanked them for their patronage. Satisfied, the guest left.
With a nod to acknowledge the man, Eela moved over to the counter, giving space for the other customer in front of her.
The trill shop keeper turned to face the older woman. “Hello there! I think I’m the one you seek. Talen Veyl. And you are?” he inquired, unlike other shop keepers. Typically they never got personal, but since he had been called out by name, he figured it was ok to find out who was wondering.

Oh, someone who didn’t know who she was right away, how delightful! It made certain things easier when this was personal business and not work. “You know, it’s so rare that I have to introduce myself that I almost don’t want to, just for the fun of it,” she said, her hazel eyes lighting up.
Clearly Talen had dropped the ball at this point. For someone to not want to share meant their name carried a lot weight. For Oed, there were not many people as far as he was aware, who could likely feel that way. He gave a small laugh as he engaged with the woman.
She rested an arm on the counter, and relaxed into her stance, though she was careful not to slouch. “I’m Eela. My friend and colleague, Cort, came by a few days ago? He brought a selection of teas from this shop to the office and I had to admit I was very intrigued. It’s been awhile since I’ve encountered a purveyor of teas who understands the intricacies of the herbal realm. I could tell you do.”
~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.
Talen smiled and nodded as he recalled the man from days past. And this must have been the coworker who had knowledge of tea brewing. He leaned forward. “Well, Eela, I appreciate the compliment. It’s quite rare to find people in that specialty so far out here. I suspect you’re also one who understands such things?” He asked curiously, wondering just how far it went with her. Did she simply have the head knowledge? Did she apply what she knew? Did she grow her own herbs or have a supplier?
