Kanok moved with a slow fluid grace. He wore typical klingon calisthenics gear, the padding providing for a typical need for strength in movement. He was in the middle of a conditioning workout when he caught the sudden appearance of the Black Sparrow’s resident artificial intelligence. She was wearing white dress that hugged her holographic body, ending in a knee-high skirt. Her legs and feet were bare, as usual aboard the Sparrow. He stopped what he was doing with an audible sigh before choosing to stand. He rose to his near 7 foot stature and looked down at Katrina’s 5 foot holographic form, giving an audible grunt.
“I know,” she stated with a hint of frustration. “To be fair though, were you going to allow me to interrupt your routine if I simply rang the door?”
Kanok rolled his eyes and moved to sit on his bed, loosening his gear.
“Yeah, didn’t think so,” she spoke aloud once more. “Michael still isn’t back. And I’ve only gotten a few pings off of his communicator since he left the Black Sparrow. There have been no check-ins. It’s like he’s disappeared.”
Kanok sighed and moved over to his desk where a PADD sat. He picked it up and began investigating. Katrina moved fluidly to his position off to the side. After his own investigation, he sat the padd down and looked to Katrina, eyeing her thoughtfully.
It wasn’t odd for Michael to simply not make an appearance. Every now and then he’d get caught up in something minor and shrug it off as though it were no big deal. It hadn’t surprised Kanok to still not have seen him. What troubled him was that Katrina was correct. His communicator stopped pinging in one of the business districts. The last thing Kanok had heard from Conrad about where he would be was that he was out to meet with Kristina for the evening. Truth be told, it seemed like there was something there. A bit of chemistry that they were exploring. Kanok didn’t pry though. Best if he didn’t know too much anyway. Though it wasn’t as though he could go off telling all sorts of people. With no tongue, communication became a bit of a chore.
Katrina gestured to a hand device on Kanok’s desk. He looked and understood immediately. He put on the glove like device and placed his hand on a designated spot on the desk. He felt a slight jolt and the odd sensation of another presence in his mind. Her programming had transferred to the glove, which allowed for direct communication between him and her.
Katrina’s voice resounded in his mind. “We lost his signal in the business district. Best if we start there I think.”
Kanok spoke within his in his mind, the deep sound of his klingon voice evident, “We ought to look for Kristina Cosgrove. If I’m right, he was headed to the business district to have dinner with her. Can you determine where she might be now? Where her home is, and when will she be home?”
Katrina spoke. “Calculating…”
Kanok reflexively picked up the PADD in his electronically gloved hand, connecting the device to the system. After it synced, calculations and information streamed across it’s surface before coordinates were brought up. Her holographic figure also disappeared. “Her living arrangements are not terribly far from the district. We could start there before going to do our own investigating.”
“Let us hope we do not find him in unfortunate circumstances at this woman’s house.” he said before moving to change his clothes.
It took him minimal time to do so. Kanok and Katrina then left, the Sparrow locked down. Kanok was hoping this wouldn’t take long. Was it just his communicator gone defective? Or had he turned it off for more personal reasons? Was he about to show up at Cosgrove’s residence to find him having spent the night there? Or maybe he had been kidnapped? It was doubtful, but he had to at least consider the thought.
Whatever happened, he hoped this would all be fixed quickly.

-KatrinaIn a one-bedroom apartment nestled between the Government District and the Business district (in a practical sense they overlapped), Kristina Cosgrove was getting ready for the day. She had a class later in the morning, plus was due to be in the Tower this afternoon. As she pulled a brush through her naturally wavy brown hair, so was trying to shift her mental state into something less… irritated.
It was embarrassing really. Kristina was no longer some young kid who would just shrug off being treated this way, but then again she understood that there was risk involved in dating someone like Michael Conrad. He had ‘I can break you heart’ written all over his very charming face. And yet… she still trusted him. She knew him… or at least she thought she had. Right now she wasn’t so sure.
They had had that fabulous date at the jazz bar and then he had been away. When he returned this week and asked if he could see her, she was honestly excited.
That’s why it had been so emabrassing to have sat there for over an hour. After 45 minutes (and two drinks), she had at least ordered a dessert, feeling rather sorry for herself and to not lose the table. Another half an hour later and she gave up and left. Oh well, right? His loss? She had looked amazing too.
Tossing the brush onto the counter, she moved off to her closet and threw on a fitted cream coloured sweater with colourful beads and paired it with a tan pencil skirt. Her eyes then searched the surfaces of her bedroom for the gold hoops she had worn the other day, but didn’t see them, so ventured into the living room to see if she had taken them off elsewhere.

Kanok made haste. As much as he didn’t want to possibly intrude on something, he was prepared to do exactly that in the most awkward way if needed. “He better not have intentionally cut off the communicator…” he growled to himself in his mind.
Katrina, due to the tech she was currently inhabiting, permitted her the chance to catch it. “You’re not the only one thinking that.” she mumbled mostly to herself.
As Kanok approached, he took note that many of the apartments seemed similar in design. This area of the district wasn’t made for people well off, though the neighborhood seemed safe enough in the light. Kanok, however, knew very well that looks were deceiving and remained cautious anyway. They weren’t known here, and being a rather tall klingon gained unwanted attention at times.
He kept glancing down at the padd to determine whether they were close. It took little time at all to find the apartment.
“Ok,” started Katrina. “Why don’t you let me do the talking? Don’t need you scaring her off with your intimidating posture, grunts, and growls.”
“Very well,” groaned Kanok in frustration. Having no capability to talk had its downsides at times. Kanok opened tucked the Padd under one arm and opened the palm of his hand to reveal the small 12 inch holographic form of Katrina.
He then pressed the chime to Kristina’s apartment.

Securing the second hoop (she found them in the kitchen of all places), Kristina frowned. She wasn’t expecting anyone. Padding over to the door in her bare feet, she activated the comm panel. “Hello?” she said, eyeing the pair that appeared on the little screen. Kristina frowned at the footage. “Katrina? Kanok?” Instantly her heart rate jumped. Something was wrong. “You better come on up. Apartment 410.” The door lock clicked, indicating it was open and the screen went dark.
As she waited, Kristina tried to just finish getting her stuff together for class, but her mind was all jumbled now. The lift took about thirty seconds to traverse the four floors, and she added a little longer to give them time to move into and out of the lift. It was enough time for her to find her black leather satchel.
Kristina’s apartment was airy, with multiple windows in the living and dining and kitchen space. It was small, but the individual areas had small ways to divide them. A higher counter at the kitchen, a half wall in the corner by the kitchen that divided the eating nook from the living area. She had a velvet love seat in teal and a saucer-style chair that you basically encountered a few steps after getting in the door. At the door was an ornate pewter coloured plaque with floral motifs and three delicate looking hooks. One dark purple trench-coat hung off one hook. Beside the kitchen were two doors. On the walls were a couple pieces of artwork: a small weaving in blues and greys that resembled mountains, and a delicate and nearly abstract line drawing in pen and ink of a couple dancing.
She didn’t even wait for them to knock on her door, she just opened it and gestured for them to come on in. They worked with Micheal, and that was enough for her. “What’s going on?”

Kanok found it concerning that Kristina, upon realizing who was chiming in, instantly suggested they come up. He made haste and quickly arrived on the fourth floor. It took little time to locate the door to her apartment where it suddenly opened to Cosgrove ushering him in.
After hearing Kristina’s question, Kanok grunted and opened the palm of his hand. The center of the glove he wore held a small piece of tech that lit up with a holographic image appearing in the palm of his hand. Cosgrove would likely recognize it as Katrina, the Black Sparrow’s resident artificial intelligence.
“That’s an interesting question,” said Katrina as she stared up at Kristina. “We were hoping you could tell us. Michael hasn’t checked in on the Black Sparrow yet, and we’ve gotten no pings off his communicator. I was hoping this was just a mistake. That maybe he shut if off because he didn’t want–interruptions?” she asked with a curiously sheepish look at her final statement.
There was moment’s pause as Katrina tried reading the woman’s expression. She seemed to express a bit of youthful panic and responded before Kristina could share much. “I mean, that’s totally understandable if so. I can understand. Well, sort of. I only understand so much being that I’m artificial. I’m not overly familiar with organic mating rituals yet. Probably something for me to learn in the future. But we must adhere to protocol at the moment. We have regular check ins and pings that I monitor, and I get a little worried when they’re not regular. Is he here by chance? Or maybe you know where he might be?”
Kanok’s eyes went wide and he remained silent as he gaze shifted from Katrina to Kristina.
