Karina went back to her apartment. Her damp swim suit was tossed on the shower floor, her chilled skin shivered and hair raised under the sudden hot water. Unfortunately for Karina, the release of muscular tension did not make sleep come quicker that night.

Enger, DOE

Jewel daydreamed a little too long by the door and slept there on the floor, over sleeping curled in a ball infront of the door.

Karina showed up in the gym the next morning. She was not up for a workout, but she wanted to see Jewel, but she wasn’t there. Karina took a very long time trying to decide if she should knock on Jewel’s door or not. Maybe she’d upset Jewel the night before. Given her the wrong impression one way or the other? Maybe she didn’t want to see Karina. But what if she was sick? She’d passed out in the pool and barely made it to her door.

Well if it was the former, then Karina would just deal with that embarrassment, if it was the later, then she was going to go check on her anyway. She took the lift up to Jewel’s floor and once outside the door, she pressed the chime, once.

Jewel woke up in a pool of her own drool laying in front of her front door. The chime rang through the fog, but she was not sure where she was. “What’s the ringing” she said her head pounding and neck stiff as a board. The chime wrang again. “Ugg just a second” the sound could be heard from just the other side of the door. Jewel’s hair was a mess make up run all over her face, cloths all matted and wrinkled but she was not fully awake when she opened the door. As she did she realized what was going on and sat staring at Karina speechless looking some what like a drown rat.

Karina blinked. “I knew I should not have left. Are you alright? Are you sick?”

Enger, DOE

Jewel squealed loudly and ran back to her room. Oh my gosh Karina saw me I must look a mess, she looked in the mirror it was worse than she feared she started running a brush through her hair and washing off make up. Tears now ran down her face only making it worse.

Karina stood in the door way a moment before stepping in and closing the door behind her. “Jewel?” she called. She didn’t want to invade Jewel’s privacy. Karina just wanted to make sure she was okay. “Are you alright?”

She could her jewels voice was rattled as she spoke. “I’m ok, just fresgining up.” he said. please don’t come back her and see me like this she thought. “I’ll be out in a min”

“Okay.” Karina stood by the door, not daring to invade Jewel’s privacy. She passed the time looking at the various pieces Jewel had told her Tamsy had picked out.

Jewel came out just a few minutes later no make up but clean, she was still beautiful without it. A robe hung lose about her her swimsuit still pressent. “Sorry I, ” she paused, “I needed to clean up. I ” she blushed “was sitting by the door day dreaming about you and I fell asleep” she noted pushing her hip out trying to look less rattled.

Karina’s eyes widened as her eyes traveled over Jewel at her confession. “I was worried about you, but I realize I do not know if you are always on time getting up or if you always snooze your clock.”

Jewel smiled, “im always early, its extremely unusual for me to be late, unless work has happened” she noted. “If you has not come by I might have missed work” she said.

Karina nodded, “In that case, may I give you a lift to the station?” She smiled a bit shyly, “With maybe a coffee stop on the way?”

Jewel smiled at the word coffee. “Mind reader” she responded, grabbed her things, wallet and badge. “You know Soma has their grand opening tonight would you maybe want to go check it out?” she asked a little shyly. She did not know if Karina was into places like that. Truth was she just liked the dancing.

Karina nodded with a huge smile. “I would love to go with you. What time?” She led the way down the lift and out of the building. Everything in the center of the city was in walking distance, but she wanted time to get Jewel coffee and something to eat. So they slipped into the slider. “Risk it,” she told the driver. The bakery was “Risk it for a Biscuit”. It was divine, or Karina thoughts so, and they had the best coffee.
