Ok’jiv put a hand over hers. “You will be safe here. We can use an assumed name. I know people who can keep you safe. We have… ways of making that happen. Would be be okay if I had someone come talk to you about it? If you say no, that is absolutely okay, and we won’t speak to anyone else about it.” The old Klingon drew herself up, “I promise you. No one will take your child from you.”

The OB was so sadamant that Stellaris wanted to believe her, desperately. But the reality was that is she went to jail, then she could still lose her baby. Then again she wasn’t entirely sure how serious her situation was or wasn’t in that regard. Still, she nodded to Ok’jiv. “Okay,” she said softly, letting herself trust these people who had bene nothing but kind to her so far.

Ok’jiv patted her hand reassuringly.

“Now what name would you like to go by, or would you like us to make one up?”

Stellaris shook her head. “Just make one up. It doens’t really matter I don’t think.”

“Well Sarah Jones it is nice to meet you,” Elaine said. “Does that work? Everyone will call you that.”

Stellaris gave something of a sad smile. “It works as well as anything else does.”

“I will not tell Constable Blackwood anything you don’t want her to know. I do need to let her know we are admitting you and transferring you.” She nodded to Elaine who went to the door and opened. “Constable Blackwood, you may come back in now.”

Dr. Fayth, DoMSS

The constable said she could help Stellaris is she was in danger. Well, she very much was! Could she trust the police officer? She really didn’t know, but at this point if she wanted to survive and wanted her baby… daughter to be okay, then she needed to trust more than herself. “You can tell her what I told you,” she said to Ok’jiv. There, whatever happened now, happened.

~Stellaris

Blackwood heard her name and entered the room, she looked at the doctor and nurse and then at Stella’s. “How is our paitent?” She asked, hoping thst the doctor could admit her to give her and Holt time to figure out what was going on.
~Constable Blackwood

“I am admitting her for long term care. I need you to step back out with me to sign the paperwork while Nurse Elaine helps her change.”

Thank goodness she thought following her out of the room and taking position where should could see the room. “I was hoping to here that she needs to be in here not a jail cell.”

Ok’jiv motioned outside while Elaine got out a gown. Ok’jiv led Blackwood across the hall to a private room. She left the door open and turned so the constable would have a clear view of the door to the room and be able to watch. “She has given permission for me to speak with you, but her safety is of the highest priority.”

Dr. Fayth, DoMSS

As Elaine helped the exhausted woman out of her dress and into the patient gown, she would see a mark on her back between her shoulder blades. It was a small starburst set into a triangle. At first it might appear to be a tattoo but upong a closer look, it was clearly also cut into her skin very prescisely.

Elaine saw the mark. “What does your tattoo mean?” She asked lightly as she fluffed a pillow and covered her with a blanket.

In all the chaos and her tiredness, Stellaris forgot. She sucked in a breath and went rigid for a moment before she forced herself to exhale a relaxed breath. “It’s who I used to be, but can’t be anymore and never will be again,” she said adamantly, as if speaking the words aloud would make them true. But there was sadness mixed in there, knowing that she had lost something that had been her entire existence for a long time.

Elaine patted her shoulder gently. “That is a decision for you to make.”

She noded ” something is definatly not right, did she give you anything I can work with?” She paused.. “i have a contact at MCD who is willing to take a look when he gets a chance”

~Constable Blackwood

“We are admitting her under a false name. Stellaris isn’t her real name either, but she wouldn’t tell me her real name. She’s running from someone. Someone she is terrified will steal her baby and harm her. There is a history of long term malnutrition going back years.” Ok’jiv said.

“We have someone here who specializes in such cases. I would use caution asking others to help. The more people are involved the more likely things slip out. And quite honestly, as starved and dehydrated she is, she is not in her right mind. The instinct to protect her baby along with the disorientation…” she left that up to interpretation.

“I get that but he already knows and knows how to be discrete. He will most likely come here first to talk to her and you,” she said giving her her contact information and DS Holts. I got scans so hopefully they will lead somewhere. “

Ok’jiv just hoped they didn’t trigger Stellaris being found. “I will let the nursing staff know, but tell him to check in. They can be unwavering in protecting their patients.”

“Now I know she has to be under guard because she is under arrest. I can take her to the security wing, but I would rather put her in maternity. However a visibly armed guard will upset the other parents.”

Dr. Fayth, DoMSS

“Maternity is fine, ill need to go over a few things, and ill need the alias, but ill keep it out if the paperwork for now” she said looking at the room. “She is not in that much trouble with us at this point, just some fines she cant pay. If she flees it ill get worse for her ”

“Sarah Jones. Here,” The old Klingon woman pulled a credit chip from her pocket. “Pay her fines. No new mother should start out with a debt over her head. The hospital has funds for such cases. Tell her it came from them.”

She scanned the chit took care of the fines which were small. “Thanks for that,” she said smiling. “Her fines are paid so im done with her for now shes free to go.” She noted.

“Any thing else she told you or that I should know before I go talk to her?”

~Constable Blackwood

Ok’jiv shook her head. “No, hopefully with time she will tell us more.”

Dr. Fayth, DoMSS

“Ok im going to encourage her to stay and to talk to DS holt when he comes. But that’s all I can do now. If you learn anything please contact me” she said walking back to the room.

“How are you feeling Ms Jones?” She asked

Detective Chief Inspector MCD, Jewel Stone
~Constable Blackwood

Settled back in the bed for the time being, Stellaris eyed Blackwood with more than a little apprehension. “A bit better,” she said softly. “I feel like I could sleep for a week though.”

~Stellaris
“That is good, you are in good hands,” she said. “The hospital has paid your fines, so you are free to go when you want, please though” she paused. “I recommend you stay her and get the help you need. Free meals for you and the baby” she noted. “Here is my contact info, call me day or night if you need, a friend will be coming by to ask you some questions, please take care of yourself Miss”

~Constable Blackwood

Stellaris (or Sarah Jones now) stared at Blackwood with pure incomprehension. She shook her head. “I don’t understand. I’m not in trouble anymore? What about today? And why would the hospital do that? I did bad things?” She could feel her heart racing.

“I don’t know, maybe they feel you were just doing what you had to, I feel the same to be honest” she said, “Everyone deserves a second chance, this one is yours’s take it” Blackwood said. “Stay here get the help you need, you may ever be able to get help from the colony to get on your feet.”

A second chance. Was this what this was? For so many years she had had a set script in her head about how things were and how she fit into the grand scheme of things. It was hard to set that aside and Stellaris wasn’t even sure if she ever fully could.

Ok’jiv stepped back in a moment later with a soft knock. “When you’re ready, we have a room upstairs ready for you.”

Dr. Fayth, DoMSS

If she was free to go, she could technically leave, but where would she go? Her only option besides staying in the hospital was likely not an option and she couldn’t risk trying just not. Not when her baby needed help. Tears in her eyes as she realized she was free again and yet still also stuck, Stellaris nodded. “Okay, that would be good,” she said softly.

~Stellaris
OOC: Does Blackwood know about the markings where they recorded in the file?

~Constable Blackwood

OOC: I mean it would be added as a distinguishing mark, but since they are trying to hide her, maybe not. I’ll leave that up to Linds.

OOC: How about it’s not in her admission record but it can be mentioned to Blackwood on the down-low? They might be trying to hide her but they are still trying to figure out her situation, so that seems reasonable.

IC: Ok’jiv smiled and Elaine stepped out of the room and came back with a transfer chair.

While she was out in the hall, Elaine stopped Blackwood to tell her about the strange mark on Sarah’s back. Then she quickly went back in with the chair.

“Alright, let’s get you in the chair and we’ll take you upstairs. Have you thought about what you want to eat?” Sarah looked overwhelmed and confused. So she wanted to keep her thinking about choices she could make and not the scary ones. There was time later for that.

Dr. Fayth, DoMSS

Blackwood put her hand on the woman’s shoulder. “Good luck Miss” she said giving her one last smile. =^=”Blackwood, clear scene, available ” she commed to dispatch moving out of the room.

~Constable Blackwood

As the constable left, Stellaris was still bewildered. In fact, she remained that way even as they moved her into the chair. “Food.... um.” What could she possibly ask for? But it came to her immediately. “Would roasted chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, and green beans be okay?” It had been her favourite family meal when she was little.

~Stellaris

Ok’jiv nodded, “If that is what you want, that is what you shall have.” The old woman lifted a PaDD and quickly entered the information. She also requested water, milk, juice, and decaffinated herbal tea. “It should arrive about the time we get you settled into bed.” It was a quick ride up to the 2nd floor of the west wing. The room was large, with a comfortable bed, a couch, vid screen, private bathroom, a window that overlooked the central garden of the hospital, and decorated in soft pastel colors. Ok’jiv and Elaine helped her get settled into the bed and comfortable, set up the monitors, and generally made a fuss over making sure she was alright.

Dr. Fayth, DoMSS

Looking around the room, she was overwhelmed at the place she would be spending a great deal of time. Moreover, she was grateful for all their help, because she felt incredibly weak now. Weeks of trying to push through and just keep going had left her more depleted than just her nutrition.

On the verge of tears again, she gave her first real smile since she had been brought in, though it was small. “You’ve been so kind. Than you,” ‘Sarah’ said in a small voice.

Elaine patted her shoulder. “You are very welcome. Try to relax and rest. You’re food will be here soon.”

Meanwhile, at the MCD office, one of the juniors on staff (Campbell) had been given the task of running Stellaris’s facial scan through the system in order to see what came up. Obviously, her record from the first arrest came through, but when they cross-referenced it with the other security systems on the colony, that’s where things got rather interesting.

The image in the arrest file showed her with reddish- blond hair: https://imgur.com/a/hs7BcqH. When cross-referenced, the face matched one that came through customs about a month ago under the name Violet Sanders. This same image could be spotted on some of the colony’s public surveillance systems (that were kept in areas of higher crime or near areas requiring higher security, like government offices or Starfleet facilities. In this case, in at least instances, Stellaris was seen near the Starfleet complex. The junior staffer was curious enough to pull the actual video footage of and in one of them it appeared that she was intently watching Starfleet personnel just outside the Complex. People came and went, but one person seemed to be in direct line of sight to Stellaris and appeared to be on a call on an earpiece: Captain Jonathan McBride.

From there it was simply a matter of liaising with one of their Starfleet counterparts to see if the woman came up related to anything Starfleet. When the file came through, Campbell sat back in his seat. “No… can’t be. Really?” Shaking his head, he formed the findings report and sent it to DS Holt and Detective Stone, CCing Constable Blackwood.

In addition to the woman’s various appearances on Oed, she seemed to match a missing person’s report from 2380 for one Evelyn McBride (age 16), younger sister to Captain McBride. When the computer adjusted the older image ( https://imgur.com/a/evelyn-mcbride-2380-SfTxb77 ) for the change in age, it matched Stellaris with 98% accuracy.

Lastly, Starfleet had a Bench Warrant out for a ‘Stellara’ as a person of interest wanted for questioning related to the theft of an ancient artifact from a Starfleet lab. While the image captured of her in the video footage wasn’t as clear as that of others, it definitely bore a strong resemblance to the woman Oed knew as Stellaris.

When the food arrived, Stellaris tried so hard to restrain herself. She had managed to push her hunger out of her mind and to be honest she was more tired than hungry right now. But it smelled so good. “Oh Gods, I’m not sure how much I can eat, but it smells amazing.”

~Stellaris

The nutrition worker smiled. “You eat as much as you want. If you get hungry later just call down and we’ll bring up anything you want.” She smiled before leaving. Elaine finished setting everything up and helped place the tray on the adjustable table. On a large PaDD mounted on the wall was all her information, nurses names, doctors, cleaning crew, nutrition, what time checks were done, etc. “Now you see this schedule and these names? If anyone comes in that shouldn’t or comes in at an odd time, you just press that purple button right there.” She pointed to a control on the bed. “It’s not red because that draws attention. It’s purple like our scrubs. We’ll come running. If you need anything, food, medicine, you’re scared, or just bored, you press green one. That’s for the nurses desk, alright?”
