It was an interesting time to be on Oed V, that was for certain. There were so many people here that it made some things more difficult while others were a lot easier.Moving through the Plaza Exchange, her stomach rumbled. It had been all day and it was getting harder to ignore. At the moment, however, her attention was on her subject and said subject was moving faster than she could through the crowd. In a moment of sheer insanity she had thought about calling out to him, but her own words all those years ago rang in her head. ‘I hate you. Leave me alone and never talk to me again.’ And he never had. To be fair, she had made that rather impossible given he wouldn’t have known where to find her, or how, but now her regrets were numerous and included pushing away the last person who had still believed in her.
He turned a corner and when she hurried to catch up, it was too late. Peering around said corner, he was gone. She wanted to cry but shoved those feelings down as far as she could. Sadness wouldn’t help her out of her own mess and right now she had three days until she found herself losing her last bit of freedom.
Determined to change things, she moved back through to the other side of the Exchange, where things were a bit seedier and where she might be able to get away with her next plan. It was stupid, this much she knew, but what other choice did she have? She had no home and she wouldn’t be able to stay on this colony as a resident if she didn’t figure this all out. A part of her wanted to believe he would help (he was good like that), but the rest of her was far too skeptical to trust an emotional whim from the past.
She almost had enough to pay the fine, but she needed a little more. There wasn’t enough time to earn it legitimately and she had lost her job a week and a half ago.
Reaching out her hand as nonchalantly as she could, her fingers gripped the credit chip she had seen the man slip into his pocket. Stupid. Didn’t he know this was not a good place to be flaunting money around? Suddenly he turned and his hand grabbed her wrist hard. “Oh no you don’t!”
She cried out, but thankfully he grabbed her left wrist and she was right handed. She threw a punch and knocked him on his ass and then took off. People around them all watched the scene with interest but no one seemed to do much at the moment. “Stop her! Thief!” the tourist called out.
But she kept running until an arm shot out from the side and caught her. More accurately she ran into said arm and found herself falling onto her back, the breath knocked out of her. The credit chip fell out of her hand onto the ground as she found the wind knocked out of her and her vision going fuzzy. Her dyed strawberry blond hair partially obscured her face and she didn’t even have the energy to move it. Her right hand moved instinctively to her belly which was rather obviously swollen: she was pregnant. Quite pregnant.

The Plaza was her main patrol area, it had been now for some time. Mary loved it here for the most part it was a simple patrol petty crimes , pickpocket a few muggings here and there, lot of tourist involvement. The vast array of stalls, shops bars and restaurants, made for busy but rarely life threatening work. Stepping out of her patrol car and securing it she let dispatch know where she was. =^=”Blackwood, east plaza, stepping out”=^= inticating her name where she was and that she was moving from her car to being on foot. She walked her general walk through the Plaza helping a few tourists find there way. Her eyes scanned around making sure things were safe. “How’s business” she asked her favorite coffee vendor,
“Umm great people can’t get enough of this klingon coffee, especial your people” he said with a smile. “I’ll have your order up in a second”
“Thanks “
A few minutes later she was walking again with her coffee drinking as she continued to patrol. It was not long before the coffee was gone and she was moving through the crowd again, then she hear it. Someone calling out thief, =^= “Blackwood responding to theft central plaza” =^= she said starting to move toward the call out. She moved slowly at first until she caught sight of someone running and apparently looking for a place to escape too, it was a good bet that was the suspect.
She moved quickly to head the suspect of. =^=”Blackwood, suspect spotted east bound on foot, female, mid to late thirties, 5 5 small frame, long red hair, Blue dress black leggings” =^= she noted as she moved to intercept by getting head of her. The suspect came running around the corner, Mary tried to grab her but she ran smack dab into her arm and fell to the ground, the breath knocked straight out of her. Mary’s eyes went to the chip than her stomach. “Easy miss, ” she said holding out her hands. “Breath, ” Mary said kneeling down but keeping herself above the suspects arms, it would be hard for to get away.
Struggling to catch her breath, she sighed and then cough, but it came out as a half sob. She saw the police uniform and knew that her day had just gotten so much worse. Letting her gaze drift to the woman’s eyes, her own showed her resignation and her fear.
The man whose chip she had taken stormed over. “Well, aren’t you going to arrest her?! She stole my chip.”
The thief didn’t even bother to deny it and just sighed as she closed her eyes.

Mary smiled at the woman, “Sir step back please I will take your statement in a moment” she said holding up her hand in a stop motion.
“Ms do you need a doctor?” she said one eye on the credit chip. Mary was going to have to put her in cuffs and detain her but she seemed to be nursing her belly which suggested to Mary that the woman may be pregnant.
Constable Blackwood
She snorted. “Probably not. I’m fine.” She wasn’t, not even close, but there was nothing this cop could do to make any of that better for her. “Can I sit up though? I promise I won’t try to run.” What was the point? Hell, she was probably going to be safe in a jail cell than anywhere else tonight.

She looked at the woman compassionately =^= ” Blackwood, one detained” =^=
“I would at least like to have someone take a look at you if that’s ok? I am going to have to detain you though, she said pulling out her cuffs” she looked at the vic, “I’ll be with you in just a moment Sir, this should not take to long. ” she noted, most tourists really just wanted to get about their vacations.

The man gave a small nod and stepped to the side, folding his arms across his chest. Then he spotted his chip on the ground. “Well, at least I have that back,” he muttered.
The woman sighed and nodded at the constable, and rolled towards her right side a bit before pushing herself up into a sitting position. It would be easier to just stand rather than have the constable haul her to her feet, but she didn’t dare do anything more than she had permission to do. Sitting up, her belly settled and there was definitely a bump there. Arms in front of her, they looked rather thin, not quite skin and bone, but close. She just stared at the ground, not wanting to catch any of the pitying or incredulous gazes of the passersby.

Blackwood could tell the woman was embarrassed , “Sorry Ms, But I’m going to have to pat you down” she said securing her hands behind her back in the cuffs lightly. “Do you have anything on you I should be aware of, or anything that might poke me stick me or harm me in any way?” she asked putting on a pair of gloves she snapped a quick photo of the chip where it was, and then placed it in a little bag and put it in her pocket. “I’ll have that back to you in a minute sir”

“Great, thank you, constable,” the man said, perking up. “I’m supposed to be meeting my wife soon for lunch after she finished a sightseeing tour.”
“Nothing on me,” the woman said softly, trying to not roll her eyes at the tourist. She wasn’t unsympathetic but right now her mind was trying to work out how she was going to get out of this latest mess. All she saw were worse upon worse choices.

=^=”Blackwood requesting a second constable. “=^= she could not conduct a search without another offer there were several on patrol. It only took a minute NC Masterson was working their way anyway knowing that she would need support.
Mary felt around in her pockets and various places things could be hidden. There was nothing there but the poor thing was skin and bones. “Ok Ms, sit tight, if you need some water let me know” she said.
The woman didn’t reply.
“Masterson stay with her for a minute.” she said he stood to the side not speaking just watching the scene.
“With me please sir.” she said taking the man to where the two parties could not hear each other, keeping a close eye on the woman though she did not thing she was going to be a problem. “So” she said bringing up a padd, what happened exactly. ?”
~Constable Blackwood
The man took a deep breath. “I had just bought my wife a trinket from a stall and put my credit chip in my pocket knowing I’d just have to grab it again soon. Next thing I know I feel movement next to me and then a hand is in my pocket. I grabbed the persons wrist and she”-he gestured with his head to the woman-“was the one I had in hand. Then she threw a punch at me! I moved back to avoid it and fell backwards. Then she ran! If it hadn’t been for you stopping her she probably would have got away,” he said with certainty.
Meanwhile, the woman kept her head down and said nothing to the other constable. She just felt so tired by everything that all she wanted to do was sleep. Good luck with that though .

“Ok Sir, I’ll need your Id to make sure it matches the chip, she’ll be fined for the attempted robbery but we don’t typically jail people for that, and , Well attempted assault I can arrest her for, but you’ll have to come to the precinct, do a line up, and will have to likely extend your time here on Oed, definitely the rest of today is shot, ” she said. “Unless you don’t want to press charges” she noted.

He reached into an interior jacket pocket and pulled out his ID card that said he was Brent Kosylic. It would match the payment chip. Brent looked over at the woman who all told was looking rather pathetic and shook his head. “Nah, I just want to go meet up with my life. I’ll let it be.”
