Tiberius looked at Commander Keen and responded, “I am not sure its looping, but it just looks like it skipped over some time. Is this something you or Ensign Biggs would be able to determine an amount of time that was skipped?” He waited for a response to know how to go about finding out what happened.

“I can help but I think Biggs has the most knowledge at this point.” she took a step back to allow Biggs more room at the console and he glanced at Tiberius with a nod, “If there’s one thing you can count on it is us having multiple back ups and back ups of back ups. It is just a matter of tracking them down and finding the unaltered files.” he got started and after a while he whistled softly, “They’re good but yeah give me twenty minutes I should have a clean and full file for you.”

Tannenn gave Tiberius a small smile, “Sorry I wasn’t more help but I will stick around just in case I can still help.”

Tiberius thought for a second, and said, “I would love to have some additional help. You were helpful.” He smiled at Tannenn. He then said again, “Anyone which can help, is ideal and you can stay. We both might learn something.” He then looked over at Ensign Biggs and said, “Are you able to determine how long the ‘blip’ in the video was? ” He wanted to see what a professional could say about the video.

OOC: I would like to see what Linds has to say about the video before we make any assumptions.

It took considerable effort to eliminate the possibility that the blips were accidental, but the evidence was in the precise way an earlier clip of nothing happening was overlaid at 0145 and 0250 hours. They were ten-second clips with the cut being no more than 0.2 seconds. A blink of an eye. So quick it was easily missed. What was even more curious was that they only covered those two ten-second bits of footage. Not the time in between. It was true and the timestamps in the code were correct. An additional bit in the automatic changelogs for the code showed that the hallway footage was change for both clips 0250, after Jones’ noted time of death. At the time of, or after someone left Jones’ apartment, they altered the security footage. Remotely.

Tiberius was curious how he was going to get hold of the originals for this and not some copy that sent it over. He was thinking, maybe the person who sent this originally had something to do with it. He decided a trip to the security office of the apartment was going to be needed. He looked over at Tannenn and said, “Thank you for your help. I might need both of you to help me again. I am going to make a trek over to the apartment and try and get a copy of the original. If either of you want to go, he looked specifically at Tannenn, I would love the company.” He stood up from his desk and then waited for a response as he gathered some items to take with him to the apartment.

Biggs hadn’t looked up from the console as he was still trying to dig up the originals from there, “No problem at all, I like a challenge and I will keep digging here if that is okay?” he asked with a quick glance over his shoulder.

Tannenn nodded her head, “I have no problem with your request to keep digging.” she looked to Tiberius as she added, “If you think I can help I have no problem at all coming along.” She had to admit she was curious as to what they might be able to turn up even if her main skills were not in active investigations. She enjoyed it during her academy courses but she hadn’t followed beyond the general courses. Now though she was thinking it was never too late to learn a bit more. Getting more skills and qualifications was encouraged as long as it didn’t interfere with current events.

Tiberius smiled and responded, “I would love the company. Lets go ahead and head over to the apartment complex where Jones lived so we can see if we can find anything.” He waved towards the door to allow Tannenn to leave first. He was being a gentleman. He then waited for Commander Tannenn to leave so he could walk with her. He thought this was another opportunity to chat with her to get to know her even more.

Before they left, there was a priority alert on his console with a message to all senior staff from Captain McBride. The public had ben informed about Jones’ death and the security level at all Starfleet controlled areas was now at Yellow Alert.

Tiberius knew this was coming and was happy to know specifically when it was going to be done. He was already aware of the situation but needed to keep his eyes and ears open to make sure nothing went down due to this. He then went with Tannann and made his way to the apartment where Jones lived in order to try and get the original video.

Tannenn noted the notice of security alert to yellow and as they walked she confirmed that the labs were secured. She had already locked her office before leaving to help Tiberius. So she was just confirming that the labs were secured with the additional alert status.

When they arrived at the fifteen story building, security was tight as expected and given it was a Starfleet controlled building, all the security systems were also Starfleet. A pair of security officers were outside the building and greeted the two senior officers as they arrived.

Inside, there was a security desk and an officer on duty, who had been the one that sent over the footage earlier. “Commanders,” the ensign said, rising to his feet.

Tiberius nodded at the Security Ensign and said, “Ensign. Can you direct me the location of where the security camera data is stored please? I know this station can only access it. I’m assuming there is a memory core somewhere.” He waited for a response from the young Ensign and he looked over at Tannenn and smiled at her.

Tannenn smiled back at Tiberius then turned her attention to the Ensign before them as they waited for the Ensign to either confirm or deny about the data storage and it’s possible location. She didn’t want to outright say that the video they’d received was tampered with because it would make the Ensign assume she suspected them. She didn’t she just didn’t want to cause trouble where it was already an interesting puzzle.

“Of course, Commander. I can’t leave my post, but just one moment and I’ll ask Ensign Sawnki to show you the backup core,” he said. He sent out a page and a few moments later, a young woman with dark eyes and a sort but broad build approached.

She took in the two senior officer before looking at her fellow junior officer. “How can I help?”

“They need to see the data core.”

Sawnki nodded. “Of course, this way,” she said.

She led them down the hall and then took a right, a door appearing only a few paces in. The ensign touched an access panel and the door unlocked and slid open into a maintenance corridor. “This is the primary access point to the building primary systems. Power, water, security.” She paused after about ten meters at another door and once again used her security access to open the door.

They stepped into a small room no bigger than a small walk in closet. It housed a small computer core. “This is the main data storage area. There’s a partition in the core that serves as a backup and the whole thing has its own backup power supply.”

The Starfleet Security Chief received a ping on his combadge informing him of a text message from the secure government network, not an incoming voice call.

_I was informed you have entered Jones’ apartment building. I haven’t had time to compare notes yet. I’m forwarding what my forensic team gathered from the apartment in case you haven’t used your task force access yet. Take care, the press interest is high and the top of your chain of command is still on the POI list. Be warned that we have a FedSec agent attached to the investigation as well.

Attached was the information gathered by the police crime scene unit and updated access to the Major Crimes Divisions Task Force Database for the Chief of Security and whatever members of his team he wished to grant access. Pangolin of course was the lead investigator from the Oed Police Department and on Paper the lead investigator but clearly he didn’t care about taking charge, the investigation came first

After he looked at the incoming message and data, he looked over at Lt Keen and said, “Can you take a look and see if you can find the originals for the timeframe 6 hours before the murder to the time on the floor of where the murder occurred please? I am going to look at the lobby feed around the time of the murder and the hour following to have the data of the lobby after we find the originals to see if we can help identify the person who might have killed Jones. It will help us determine if the suspect left the building or not. Since we potentially have a murder on the colony.” He then typed in the station on the data he was looking for and had the originals sent to his office and then looked over at Tannenn to see if she was able to find who left the Jones’ resident at the time of the murder.

As they reviewed everything, they would see that it was exactly the same at they had viewed back in his office. The originals were not tampered with, as evidenced by the server being intact, but instead it was more likely that someone had disrupted the feed on Dash’s floor at the time of, not after. They did so precisely when they would have entered the floor and then again when they left. The only way that could have happened was some sort of technological interference device.

In the lobby, the footage of Dash arriving at such a later hour stood alone. Aside from the security officer on duty who greeted him, there had been no one else coming through the front door during or after the murder. Whoever was responsible did not leave through the main entrance.

There was also the question of how the assailant got into Dash’s place given that there was no sign of forced entry noted by the CSU.

Tiberius did not expect to see the person leaving out the front door after the murder. He was curious to know if there happened to be any cameras in the elevator. He started doing some investigation to see where all the cameras were in and around the building. There had to be something to explain what was going on. Hopefully, this was not someone who lived on the same floor as Dash. He waited to get a response from the computer on the location of all the cameras and knew they were going to need to start going through things to hopefully find this person.

There were indeed cameras in the two lifts, and at the exit from said left on each of the fifteen floors. For privacy’s sake, there were no more, but as established, that camera could see the length of the hallway. There were also feeds in the lobby, as already established, at the entrance to the maintenance area they themselves had entered, the front of the building and the emergency exit at the back. There was also a camera at the exit of the emergency stairwell that served as the main evacuation route in case of fire or other emergency.

Tiberius began by pulling up the feeds of the lifts in order to review them before and after the time of the murder. He wanted to see if he saw something out of the ordinary or if the cameras were blocked in there as well. After reviewing those, he knew he wanted to check the emergency stairwell cameras as well. He hoped the assailant forgot about other cameras to try and block before or after committing the crime. He wanted to review everything himself and have a second set of eyes look at it took after he reviewed to see if the same thing happened with the additional feeds like what happened on the floor feed.

The feeds from the lifts were clear and nothing seemed to be wrong with them. There were no glitches like the other one. But when it came to the stairwell camera, there was the same glitch before the time of the murder and afterwards there was another but it seemed less clean, like whatever had disrupted the feeds hadn’t been fully successful. There was a brief shadow that suggested someone had used the stairwell.

Tiberius was concerned with all the breaks in camera feed. This seemed to have been done by a group that had some education on blocking camera views and not just a random killing. It seems like it was a hit. Tiberius was concerned there were no additional cameras which he could find that would cover that alley. He was curious if there were any cameras outside the alley that might show some activity around the same time to maybe get the coverage. He was going to have to go outside and look or send one of the security team members to take a look around the area for a camera that does recordings to check around the same time. If there were not cameras, he was going to need to see about fixing that around the star-fleet complex and he would need to check all the others to help fix any “holes” in security. He then looked at Commander Keen, smiled, and said, “I am going to do a search for cameras around the emergency stairs door to see if we have any additional views of the criminal. I will be back after I do some searching to see if I am able to find anything.”

He then stood up and walked out of the security office and headed back to the front door. He wanted to walk around the building to find where the exit of the emergency stairway and check to see if he could seen entered/left through this door as it should be recorded as well. He then took a few minutes to look around and look down the alley and the exit for both to see if he could see any cameras in order to see if he could get the recordings from the non-starfleet building to help track down the criminal.

There was no obvious cameras but then again surveillance technology was a lot more streamlined than it used to be. Still, opposite the emergency exit in the alley was a shop that operated during daytime hours. There was a back door into the alley, though it looked like only an exit as well.

As he inspected the exit point of Jones’ building, there were a few metal steps that turned at a 90-degree angle with a railing. Upon even closer inspection, there was a small smear of something red that had dried on the side of the railing facing the door.

Tiberius was curious about the red stuff on the railing. It looked like blood but one would never know. He took out his investigation padd, made note of the item, took a picture, and then put his padd back in his belt. He then took out the sample taking kit and then he took a sample. He then uploaded everything to the security office and hit his comm badge =/\=Commader Cattaneo to Ensign Chu, please anaylize the stain sample I just sent over. I believe it is blood but not 100% sure. If it is, please run a DNA sample on it. It was found outside the emergency stairway from the apartment where Jones was living. I am going to the business which exists behind the emergency exit of the apartment building to hopefully find a video feed from when the perpetrator left after the murder. Please keep me updated with what you discover from the sample which I sent over. Cattaneo out=/\=. He then returned the sample taking kit to his belt and took his padd back out to make any additional notes.

Tiberius then looked around to see if he saw anything else then proceeded to go around to the other side of the building across from the apartment to see if he could get a video feed from the stairway exit. He pulled up a map on his pad and made sure to mark the location of the door he wanted to investigate in order to speak with the shop owner. He then went around the front and entered the store where the door he had marked and looked around. He walked up to what appeared to be the main desk and said, “Commander Cattaneo, Chief of Star-fleet Security. I am wondering if you have the camera on your back door and if you have the recording from last monday, for a 24 hour period?” He waited for a response from the person at the desk. He was hoping there was something here.

The shop seemed to sell decorative housewares of varying kinds as evidenced by the furniture, dishes, decor items. Most had a casual feel to them. Cozy.

A middle-aged appearing woman (possibly Human) nodded. “We do have a security system, though we rarely need it in this part of the city. I can access the system from the back and see what’s there.” Whether the woman knew what he was looking for or not, she didn’t ask more questions. Then again, being next door to the scene of high-profile murder made some questions unnecessary.

Tiberius would like to look at the video himself, there might be a blip here but maybe enough to get more data. He then said, “Are you able to send the recording between this morning starting at Midnight and through 0600 to the Star-fleet security office? We have had some blips in the security video and I would like to confirm if it happens on this camera as well.” Tiberius was hoping that something was missed or unknown by the criminal and there would be a mistake with this video. There had to be something somewhere to actually show who or what the killed Jones. He knew it was going to take some work to get but he knew, based on all his experience, criminals always had a weakness and he was going to find it.

“I can probably do that, yes,” she said. “Anything else?” It was strange to have a security officer here and while it was understandable, she wasn’t exactly sure what to do other than try to be helpful where it made sense to.

Tiberius responded to the shop lady, “Thank you. I believe that is it for now.” He then turned around and left the shop. He wanted to take more of a look at the buildings around to possibly have cameras to see if the person who committed the crime can be seen.

As he was then hit is comm badge and said, =/\=Commander Cattaneo to Ensign Chu. Do you have any information on the DNA which was found that I sent over? Also, there should be some video coming from a shop that has a door at the same location where the emergency stairs are from the building where Jones lived. Please go over the video very strictly and see if you find any blips in the camera feed or if someone is shown during the timeframe from this morning, please let me know. =/\=.

While he was waiting for the data and information about the blood sample he sent over, while leaving the communications open, he took a general look over around the two exits where the staris would have led, both to the left and to the right so he could go see about some additional camera views.

=/\=Understood about the video, I’ll look it over. And I just heard from the lab tech. The sample you sent was indeed blood. Human blood to be exact, and it is a match for Dashiel Jones,=/\= Chu said.

There rest of the alley was pretty short on this block and came out either side of Dash’ building. Facing the emergency exit as he was, to Cattaneo’s left led to the front of the building with the main entrance and the right led to another street.

Having heard that the DNA matched Jones’s and not the criminal, Tiberius muttered some naughty words under his breath. He was hoping for a little bit of a break but it had yet to come. Now the next best option was the results of looking at the video. He went ahead and when back to the emergency door. He thought for a second and then turned to his right and walked to the end where the street. He took a look around to see what might be there which could have a video for him to get some eyes on the video feed if the criminal had gone this way.

He then turned around and looked to the end of the way and saw that it lead towards the front of the apartment building so he believed the criminal would have not gone that way. So he turned backed around and looked around again to begin his investigation with hopefully additional video. He also waited for an update from Ensign Chu for the results from the video from the back of the store which faced that of the emergency door. He was hoping the video was not effected by whatever device the criminal was carrying which caused he blip in the video in the apartment.

At the side of the street the building backed onto, there were other buildings of various heights, all office buildings, but they were in the middle of the city and not in a residential district. There were no visible camera that could be seen, but even if there was discreet tech as was so prevalent around Oed, there were several building and many floors combined that had potential visibility towards the alley.

Chu got back to him a couple minutes later. =/\=We’ve reviewed the footage and there are no glitches in the feed and the timestamps are continuous. There’s nothing to see until 0255 hours when there is a figure that appears. It’s hard to get a good image of the person as it was night time and they seemed to avoid any of the building lighting, but we’re working on getting some enhanced images out of the feed. However, we can see them rub their chin and then there is a couple lines visible hanging from the chin, just barely backlit. It does seem to match our lead on the perpetrator being Flaxian. I think the rest of the Crime Unit might have more about that from the chatter.”

Tiberius was happy about the feed. He was glad the criminal had not blocked the signal there too. He knew he needed to communicate with the Crime unit and see what they had seen/found plus they needed this information about the video feed. So Tiberius hit his comm badge and said, =/\=Commander Cattaneo to Oed V Crime Unit. This is in regards to the Jones’s killing. We have a video feed of the criminal leaving the apartment building at 0255 but the light is dull. It appears the perpetrator is more than like Flaxian. Star-fleet Security is currently working to try and enhance the video. Do we have any additional updates on who it might be? Also, I did find some blood leading from the emergency stairs but unfortunately it was just of Jones’s blood, probably left from the hands of the perpetrator. I am still surveying the area to try and find more cameras to try and get a better view of the potential Flaxian.=/\= Tiberius made sure and not close the comm channel so he could hear the information he requested and if the Crime Unit had any additional information.

“This is Agent Colls. We’ve got a positive ID on the Flaxian tendril for a 38 year old Flaxian name Tokerl. He’s been in prison 3 times for assault and once for first-degree murder. Multiple other incidents that never saw a courtroom. He is also known to be a contractor of the Orion Syndicate. Alerts have been issued for all law enforcement and customs agencies.”

Tiberius wanted to make sure no one had left the colony since 0255 this morning so he hit is comm badge and said, =/\=Commander Cattaneo of Star-fleet Security to the Spaceport. Can you all confirm there has not been anyone leaving the colony via a ship since 0255? Please confirm. Thank you.=/\= He waited for a response. He really wanted to make sure the perpetrator was still on the colony and had not left on some transport.

A minute later, someone responded. ||This is Spaceport main control. Commander we’ve had 72 vessels leave Oed and 64 incoming. Plus there are several industrial vessel in the queue. You’re looking at thousands of people, and that’s not including Starfleet vessel docked at the Orbital platform for repairs and whatnot.|
