Shivan did sleep. Almost as soon as Séan left he slept hard. Long after he fell asleep, he began to dream. He was in an alley, accompanied by Jezem, and.... Oh no, that klingon. And then he was pushed into her, and… He was on the ground, bleeding. Dying. He felt like he couldn’t breathe. It hurt to breathe. He shocked awake, jolting hard enough to make himself gasp in pain. He was sweaty and shaky and a bit nauseous. That was… His first day on Oed. Why was he dreaming about that? Eh, who cares, he told himself. He pulled himself upright and hobbled out of his room and to the kitchen, pulling a breakfast out of the fridge, heated it, and then sat down to eat.
When he was done, he lay on the sofa, turned on an Orion soap opera, and settled in for the day.
~ Thyr
A new day and a new visit to Thyr. Séan came bearing gifts including the medications he promised to try and get. He knocked on the back door while he carried a bag in the other hand.
Counselor Iven
Shivan’s muscled had grown stiff and sore as he lay on the sofa all day. It took him an abnormally long time to get up, get to the door, open it, and beckon Séan inside. “Those had better be my pain meds.”
~ Thyr
“I come bearing gifts and this is the reception I receive?” Séan said with a grin as he took no real offense. He moved into the place and set the bag of stuff down on the table.
Counselor Iven
Shivan gave him a look as he sat back down, wincing as he did. “Pain makes me grouchy,” he replied, “Lots of pain more so.”
~ Thyr
Séan sat before the table and opened the bag. He took out a hypospray and tossed it towards Thyr. “That’s got a non-addictive pain relief medication in it. You’ll have eight shots before it runs out so do try to ration it a bit for when you need it.” He pulled out another hypo and set it on the table. “A high dose of antibiotics if you start exhibiting infection symptoms.” He reached into the bag and pulled out a device that he showed to Thyr excitedly. “A dermal regenerator to close up the hole in your side. Now it’s not going to heal you but it will stop any external bleeding and the possibility of infections goes down. I do have to return this though so you can’t keep it.”
Counselor Iven
Shivan injected himself with the pain hypo and set it aside. He looked up at the device in awe. “They let you borrow that?” He asked. He still wasn’t wearing a shirt and Séan could see his bandaging needed replacing anyway. “Let’s do it, then. Anything else in your bag of goodies?”
~ Thyr
Opening the bag again Séan took out several to-go containers. “I got you a variety of different meals from the food court by the Starfleet complex. This way you don’t get sick of all the Orion cooking Jezem left you.”
Counselor Iven
Shivan grinned. “Human food? I dunno, the Orion actually has flavor.” He said, his expression making it clear he was teasing.
~ Thyr
“I figured you’d appreciate some variety, but if you don’t want them I can always take them home and put them in my own fridge.” Séan teased right back. He gathered all of the containers and went to put them in Thyr’s fridge so that they’d stay fresh. On his way back he stopped by the bathroom and leaned against the doorframe. “We’ll need to clean out your wound again before closing up the hole. How is your pain doing?”
Counselor Iven
“No, no, I never turn down free food.” Thyr replied quickly. He watched Séan load up the fridge. “Thanks.” He grimaced, “Better with the pain meds, but that just means ‘not agonizing’. Cleaning it again…” He made a face.
~ Thyr
“As tedious and painful as the process is, it’s best to get it done.” Séan said with some sympathy. He entered the bathroom to get the necessary supplies then returned to Thyr’s side.
Counselor Iven
“I’ve never gotten an infection before,” Thyr replied, simply trying to avoid the pain of getting it cleaned again.
~ Thyr
“And to make sure you don’t get one we’re doing this. So suck it up buttercup and grit your teeth.” Séan exhorted Thyr as he prepared to remove the bandage.
Counselor Iven
Shivan held still. It seemed like the pain meds were taking full effect. All of a sudden, he seemed tired and in a little less pain before… That wouldn’t last. The skin around it was darker blue in places, more so than before, but it was hard to tell whether it was irritation or infection without a scanner. There was still bleeding, a little, and the wound still looked… Not great.
~ Thyr
Séan gently but swiftly removed the bandage from Thyr’s wound. He look it over and scrunched his face a bit at the look of it. Good thing he had brought the Andorian compatible antibiotics. The lessened bleeding was good to see though. “Alright, here we go.” He warned before he started to irrigate the wound.
