Sharah dropped the probe to the tricorder she was holding. The clatter drew Ilena’s attention a scant second before Sharah moaned and began to shake.=/\=Fayth to Ivan=/\= There was no answer. She moaned this time the shaking increasing “Sharah, what is it?”
Sharah’s black eyes shown with fear at Ilena. Mika! Mika! Where are you? We’ll send help. I’m here.
=/\=Fayth to Ivan, respond please.=/\= Still no answer. Sharah couldn’t not do something. It took her precious moments to seek out Sean’s essence. She wasn’t familiar with him. She paused and hesitated. She shouldn’t she couldn’t.
Sharah you can, it’s okay. You can save her life. Ilena felt the horror and fear rush through the doctor and could hear her thoughts. She knew how afraid Sharah was, but her gift was made for this if nothing else.
Another wave of pain shook her and Sharah became resolved. Sean! Fayth’s voice sounded in his mind, She’s awake. He’s HURTING her!
~ Sharah (written by Capt Kelpie)
Séan was moving around the streets and alleyways of Oed with Thyr as a psychic intrusion and voice sounded in his mind which caused him to stagger. He went down to one knee to catch himself as he struggled to keep his mind from spinning. Who had spoken into his mind? It sounded familiar but the suddenness caught him off guard. Wait, that was Sharah. So the ‘her’ she was referring to must be Mika! Hoping that Sharah was still linked with his mind he directed his mind towards her, We’re looking for Tandra now! Narrowed it down to a district of the colony but having a hard time find her exact location.
Counselor Iven
There was no response for a moment. She’s underground, there is a heavy metal door. No windows, she can’t hear anything from the outside. Then she gave him a description of the man as best as she could pick out from Mika’s thoughts.
Lt. Cmdr. Fayth, SFCMO
Thyr paused and gave Séan a weird, but almost… concerned look when the man staggered and knelt. “What’s the problem?” He asked, turning toward Sean. “Not to belittle your pain, but we don’t have all day.”
~ Thyr
Séan spoke through gritted teeth. “Dr Fayth… reached out psychically to tell me Lt Mika is in immense pain. Likely being tortured.” He grunted with physical and mental effort to get back to his feet. “We need to hurry before we’re too late.”
Counselor Iven
“Sounds like we already are,” Thyr replied grimly. “Did the telepath give you any kind of hint to where to look?”
~ Thyr
Séan shook his head just as grimly. “Just that we’re in the right area but no exact coordinates. She did say though that Mika was in an underground room with a heavy door. A reinforced basement maybe? How many of those are in this district?”
Counselor Iven
Shivan frowned. “It’s probably custom made. Not much other reason to reinforce your basement like that.” He thought for a moment, “Look for buildings with signs of being renovated and buildings that look like they have a basement, air vents, windows, anything like that near the base of the building.”
~ Thyr
Séan nodded in response as a little bit of hope glimmered in his eyes. “We’ll find you Tandra.” He whispered to himself as they continued the search.
Counselor Iven
They kept looking around that part of the city, until they came across a building. It was a regular looking building with open curtains, but an Andorian passed by the window - it was quick, just a moment, but Séan might recognize him - he’d been seen in the psych wing at the hospital.
~ Thyr
Séan did his best to not react to either the building or the person he saw. Instead he signalled to Thyr and kept walking past. When they were out of sight he stopped and turned. “I think we’ve found it. Very briefly I saw someone walk past the window who I recognize from the hospital. I know that in and of itself isn’t actionable intelligence but I think it’s the best we’re going to get.”
Counselor Iven
Shivan blinked. “Alright, well, I’m gonna go in there weapons blazing, so if you’re wrong…” He gave Séan a look. “Are you sure about this?”
~ Thyr
A look of hesitation flitted across Séan’s face. He sighed then nodded his head. “Like I said it’s the best chance we have and we may already be too late. On the chance that I am wrong however no killing blows. If nothing else than to keep a murder investigation from blowing your cover but more importantly for me I don’t want us killing innocents.”
Counselor Iven
Shivan scowled, “I’m not a complete monster, you know.” He said. “Okay, I’ll go in first, you stay back.” He eyed Séan, “Yes, you’re Starfleet, but you’re a counselor.” He sighed a long sigh, “I’m not letting you get hurt.”
~ Thyr
“I’ll stay behind you but I’m not staying back. You came with me at my request so I’m not letting you take all of the risk.” Séan said as he took out the knife he’d brought along. “I’m right behind you Thyr. I got your back.”
Counselor Iven
Shivan hmphed with a small nod. Then he went up to the door, drew his own knife, and kicked in the door. “Where’s the counselor?”
~~ Thyr
Séan followed Thyr into the building while his eyes tracked for threats. He saw the Andorian come around on Thyr’s blind side and prepared to swing something heavy at him, so Séan dropped a shoulder and rushed the man. The tackle knocked the wind out of the Andorian and left him collapsed against a wall but all of the ruckus brought out three more people and one was armed with a disruptor pistol.
Counselor Iven
The pistol was the biggest threat, those things were especially dangerous to Andorians. How far away was he? Less than twenty feet. Shivan rushed the one with the pistol, aiming for an incapacitating, not killing, injury.
~ Thyr
The pistol man rushed a shot in a panic but thankfully it missed Thyr and took a chunk out of the wall behind him. The other two split their focus between Thyr and Séan, they charged their respective targets.
Counselor Iven
Thyr noticed the one behind him, but his focused remained on the one with the pistol. He tackled the man, slamming him to the ground.
~ Thyr
The disruptor was knocked from the man’s hand and disappeared across the room. Meanwhile the man behind Thyr went to stab him in the back while aiming for his spine. At the same time Séan got hit with a club in his side but tripped up his assailant and was grappling with him on the ground trying to get him into a chokehold.
Counselor Iven
“Hey, look-” too late, Séan, was hit with the club. With the distraction of trying to protect the Counselor, he wasn’t able to dodge the knife, only to move enough for the strike to miss the spine. Instead, the blade was impaled in his side. He turned and delivered a heavy blow to his attacker’s face.
~ Thyr
Séan was able to get behind his attacker and got the man into a proper chokehold. It would only take a few seconds to render him unconscious but that was time he was unable to provide backup to Thyr. The knife was still in Thyr’s side as the wielder of it went down in a heap. The disruptor wielder took the opportunity to kick out Thyr’s feet and brought him back to the ground.
Counselor Iven
Shivan fell as his feet were kicked out with a pained grunt. Immediately he rolled away from his attacker and threw his own knife at the man.
~ Thyr
The man sort of squeaked as Thyr’s knife embedded itself into his shoulder and he dropped back down to the ground. Séan finished rendering his opponent unconscious and was getting back to his feet when he saw the guy who stabbed Thyr grab a bottle and start a hard swing. “Watch ou…”
Counselor Iven
Shivan was barely able to duck and move to dodge the swing, wincing as he did. But the bottle missed his head and collided painfully with his shoulder instead. He kicked at the man’s knees, trying to knock him off balance.
~ Thyr
The man went down in a heap with a grunt but he held on to the bottle. He rolled to the side and got up onto a knee as he warily surveyed his surroundings. Two of his crew were out of action, there were two intruders in the house, and the big one was up and moving his way. “Find the disruptor!” He shouted to his one remaining ally as he moved to fend off both Thyr and Séan.
Counselor Iven
Thyr wasn’t too hard to fend off. Knife still stuck in his side, he was neither nimble nor swift. He moved toward where he’d seen the disruptor go, trying to beat their opponents to it.
~ Thyr
Séan moved to confront the bottle wielding guy and in his move to do so he grabbed a nearby chair and swung it hard against the other man’s body. There was a spectacular crack as the chair seemingly disintegrated and the man was flung across the room. The man searching for the disruptor stopped at the sound and looked back in shock.
Counselor Iven
Shivan took his chance. Apparently, Séan did not need protection. He scrambled to the disruptor and snatched it off the ground where it had fallen. He turned and aimed, ready to shoot, but he hesitated. No killing blows. We don’t need a murder investigation to blow your cover.
~ Thyr
The man looked back at Thyr and froze. Yeah he intended to use that disruptor but looking down the proverbial barrel of it himself instilled dread in him. So he did the only thing he thought reasonable and that was slowly raise his hands and appear less threatening. Séan chucked what remained of the chair elsewhere then approached the last conscious man. “On your knees and hands on the back of your head.” As the man complied he moved up behind him and took out a length of nylon. He moved the guys wrist to behind his back and bound them to his ankles. He gave Thyr a look and asked, “You good?”
Counselor Iven
As soon as Séan had him secured, Shivan dropped the weapon and leaned on the wall. “I will be. Need help. Secure the others.”
~ Thyr
Séan nodded then moved quickly to bind the other three while they were still unconscious. He then returned to Thyr and pulled out a bottle of biofoam. “So naturally this is going to hurt. First I’ll pull out the knife, insert the end of this, then dispense the foam to temporarily pack the wound. I’ll put an adhesive bandage over the top but we’ll need to get it properly seen to after this. You ready?”
Counselor Iven
Shivan nodded without any intent to actually ‘get it seen to’. To him, he’d dealt with things like this before and he’d do it again to avoid going in. “Do it quick, get it over with.”
~ Thyr
Séan enlarged the tear the knife had made in Thyr’s shirt then sized up the wound. “Alright. Here we go.” He carefully but firmly gripped the handle and pulled it out in swift motion. With the knife removed he set it aside and inserted the biofoam can’s tip into the wound. Then with the foam inserted and the wound packed, he slapped the bandage over the hole. “Whew. You doing okay?”
Counselor Iven
Shivan had gritted his teeth and clenched his fists. He nodded but held still for another few moments. Then he looked at the four captured people, then Séan. “Look for the counselor. She’s got to be here somewhere.”
~ Thyr
Séan shook his head. “We know she’s in a basement but instead of charging in blind we need more information.” He pointed at the one captive still awake. “I’m not squeamish about things but you’re probably better suited to extracting information and we’re in a race against the clock.”
Counselor Iven
Shivan pulled himself to his feet and stretched, wincing. The information would be easy to get. He’d learned much from Jezem back during their work together.
