Mathis left with a nod and ventured out into the garden with her mug of coffee. This was actually a bit of a ritual she did before each diplomatic encounter whenever possible. Sitting on a bench amongst a bunch of flowering shrubs, Jean tapped into that internal thread that allowed her to sense the world about her and for a time she just soaked in Oed and allowed that to ground her.

By the time Mike and her meeting with Hyrushi rolled around, Revna had narrowed down the applicant pool to 3-5 for each position. The commander was working on the last of the background checks, and she had sent of detailed descriptions of the positions for interns to the University. Revna had managed 4 over the comm interviews, two seemed promising, the other two wouldn’t work out. She had several more scheduled for that afternoon.

She sought Marhis out, “I’m running to my meeting, but I am a comm call away.”

“Okay,” Jeanette said. “I appreciate your help. Good luck with your meeting.” She felt more at ease about her own meeting and it was honestly good to have something to focus on other than the current mess of logistics and grief she was stuck within.

“Thank you,” Tevna laughed. She wasn’t too worried about the meeting. “I’m glad I could help. Oh! And your spouse is having lunch delivered for you. I’ll be back in about an hour.”

That made her smile. It was so like Ren to quietly do what was helpful or needed. “Alright. The Ambassador will be here soon and we’ll be in the conference room. It’s not like it busy around here, so you are more than welcome to pop into the room when you return. We’ll probably just be settling into our meal about then.”

Before Revna had left she had drafted and invite to the small dinner they had discussed for the applicants. She sent it to Mathis, so she could adjust as needed and then send it to whomever she would like to invite.

She returned promptly after her meeting, slipped in to let Mathis know she was back, and then settled into the office she was borrowing. She finished doing a screen of the applicants that the commander had vetted. Then she made calls, scheduled interviews, and conducted several before she left for the day. Each person she felt should have a second interview was given a direct and formal invite to the dinner. She left her notes and impressions, in detail, for Mathis along with a reminder for Mathis to contact her if she could be of more help. Then she collected her things and left.
