Police Commissioner's Office
About forty-five minutes after Karlson ended his interview with the Lieutenant Governor, one of her CCDA lead agents arrived at the Tower, informing the person at Reception that they were expected by the Police Commissioner. Soon after that an encrypted PADD was delivered along with a data stick. The data stick contained the footage from last night of both the front door of Dasca’s Starfleet-secured building, as well as from the front door of her 12th floor penthouse (which was guarded by two agents at all times). It showed the comings and goings of the building’s residents and their guests, including Dasca, her daughter, and Jones. There were also sworn statements by the two agents who had been working Dasca’s door that night that outlined when Dasca had returned earlier in the day, when Jones had arrived and then left, and that Dasca herself never left until early this morning.
Once unlocked by his personal encryption key, the PADD held a video recording:
Eela appeared as she had in the interview, beyond exhausted, but there was also a look of determination that might just be her trying to get through what Karlson had already said he understood to be a difficult task. “When I was… reunited with my emotions and memory, it was very overwhelming. At first I couldn’t figure out what I was experiencing but I was very aware of intense pain. At first it was in my stomach, enough to take my breath away. Then my face. And again.” Her voice wavered, but she continued. “Then my hand hurt”-she scrunched up her face as if trying to qualify her words-“more on the knuckles. Then the back of my head exploded with pain followed by excruciating pain in my right arm. Then soon after that, my whole body felt… tight and I couldn’t breathe. No matter what I did, it felt like I couldn’t take in air, even though I was breathing.” Tears streamed down her pain-filled face and for a moment it was like Dasca was in some sort of trance. She blinked and pressed a hand to her chest, taking a slow breath in and then out. Several moments passed before she spoke again. “It was hard to separate it all out but clearly it wasn’t happening to me and it never had. I knew in that moment that it had been Dash, that that was what he felt before and during his death.” It was clear she was still experiencing it as intensely as she had the first time it surfaced and Eela shook her head. “Share this with whomever you feel you absolutely must, but this is the only time I’m going to go through it. Please don’t ask me to do so again. I can’t bear it,” she all but whispered before the video ended.
