Joseph raised a hand “That’s as much if not more than I need” He said in a kindly voice, he didn’t put on his grandfatherly voice when speaking with Dasca as she wasn’t that much younger than he. “You’ll need to forward your home’s internal security records as an alibi which will then be confirmed separately” He informed her which was the first indication he’d given of her status as a potential suspect, or as they referred to it A person of interest. “Now can you think of anyone who would wish Mr. Jones harm and I mean him personally, not specifically connected to his work as the ambassador’s aide?”
Commissioner Karlson
In the back of her mind, Eela had understood that she needed to be ruled out as a suspect, and that was precisely why she was doing her best to be as cooperative as she could. Others outside of her inner circle really didn’t know just how huge this romance had been for her, and how much solace she had taken from Dash’s presence in her life. How much it hurt that was gone so suddenly, and so violently. She wasn’t worried about her alib though. After all, she was one of the most surveilled persons on the entire planet. She couldn’t step outside her apartment with probably at least half a dozen people knowing. She went nowhere on (or off) Oed without a security presence and Eela Dasca couldn’t hide if she tried.
She blew out a breath and shook her head. “Dash was a kind and compassionate person. I can’t imagine why anyone would want to hurt him. I know there was a bit of a loud exchange with an old friend a couple days ago, but they worked it out and Dash actually helped him. His old acquaintance is doing well right now because of Dash’s actions. If there was anyone, it wasn’t anything I know about.”

Joseph nodded, Pangolins notes had mentioned that exchange, another perspective wouldn’t add much to their view of the case “Could you tell me about what you’ve been doing between now and this morning?”
Commissioner Karlson
OOC: This question is because of Dasca visiting the Quill the morning of the murder, if you think Karlson wouldn’t learn about it or wouldn’t hear rumours about it during this time (Which should be late afternoon the day of Jone’s death) Let me know so I can write something else. - Hjortur
OOC: It was pretty early and not many people were around, but I could see him knowing if the police had confirmed her whereabouts this morning (that makes this timeline a little awkward perhaps, but we can go with it). She is also a frequent visitor to the shop/cafe and known to be close friends with the owner.

Eela drew in a slow breath. “I’ve been a few places after I left my apartment this morning. The Quill & Parchment briefly. I met with the Governor after, then went to the Tower to brief our staff on the situation. After that I went to see Mathis at her home and we called Dash’s family. Then I came to where I am now and have been here since. That was still early in the morning. About 0800 hours? This nonsense with this condition has taken over my day when I should be doing my job, but I was reminded that I am not in a good enough condition to make good decisions, so I’m laying low until my scans show I’m improved enough.” She was trying to not look too disgruntled by this fact, but she was tired and it was hard.~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.
Joseph raised an eyebrow “Ma’am with all due respect you should take the day, You have a staff and deputies precisely for days when you can’t be expected to execute your duties” There was a tone of gentle chiding in his voice before he returned the mask of a detective “Why visit this Quill & Parchment?” he in a calm tone

A conflict of emotions swept through her. Amusement at his concern given that it was exactly what she was doing, and the deep regret her early morning actions stirred in her. Eela drew in a deep breath, steadying herself. “On both accounts, you must remember that I was not aware I was being affected by the Kuskaaritz until later that morning, not until I came to where I am now. I’m a woman of action, Commissioner. After years as a therapist I spent eight as a first officer and fifteen as a captain. I’ve never been good at being… idle, especially in a crisis.” She sighed. “Until my treatment, it’s important that you understand that without emotions, Haliians are…” How did she even describe this? “They are my guidepost. Not just those of others, but my own as well. They are a part of my intuition, how I understand and navigate the world around me. Without them I can only describe my actions as mechanical, even illogical. I was not well, but I didn’t even see it then, not even when I did something pretty stupid.”
Joseph prepared himself, a deep breath followed by an internal mantra of calm. He was afraid something like this would happen, he was surprised though that it had come from the Lieutenant Goernor.
And then she understood what she needed to do. Eela steeled herself. “All I really remember thinking after I heard back from Ren Mathis and learned that Dash was dead was that someone had to know what Dash was worried about. Had to know what he was going to tell me. And in that moment the only other person besides the Mathises and myself who had personal contact with Dash outside of work was Rafael Torres. He works at the shop, and so while I would love to tell you that I went to simply get my morning coffee and see the owner, who I’m close with, I went to see Torres.” She held up her hands, that terrible feeling of wrongdoing twisting her gut. “I know, it was a bad idea and I shouldn’t have gone. I spoke to Torres… spoke being relative I guess, and he had nothing new to share. And worse yet, in blurted out that Dash was dead and it was not kind way to share that news and I so deeply regret it,” she said, repulsed by her own actions.
The Commissioner tensed his jaw for a brief moment, biting back a curse.
Eela reached out her hand out of sight and took Karilan’s, giving it a squeeze. “Fortunately, my friend intervened, told me how inappropriate it was that I was there and questioning Torres, and they steered me out of the shop. Everyone just thought it was shock, but now we know better.” She gritted her jaw for a moment before expelling a breath, fighting back tears. “Commissioner, Joseph… any any other circumstances I would never compromise or interfere with any investigation. I want to call it a temporary moment of insanity, but we can’t even call it that. And in the end not only did Torres not know anything about what might have been bothering Dash, but there is a look that people have when you tell them someone they cared about has died unexpectedly, and I have had to witness that look far too many times in my career. You can’t fake that. I shocked him and I owe him an apology, just I owe you one for any transgressions.” She couldn’t even say no harm done, but it was at least contained to her own inability to have good judgement at the time. Gods she was just so damn tired! Today had truly been a terrible day.
~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.
Joseph exhaled a breath he’d been holding since the Lieutenant Governor began her story. His stiff features visibly relaxed and he was again in full control, there was nothing to be gained by scolding Dasca. What was done was done “We’ll still need to confirm it for ourselves” He didn’t say that she wasn’t the most reliable source right now “We’ve already announced his death publically so that won’t be too troublesome. However, this should have been brought to my attention hours ago” The tone wasn’t scolding or angry, merely tired “Mada… Eela, you need to get some rest” He said his voice turning kindly “I have all the information I need right now, thank you for your cooperation. Unless there’s anything else you’d like to discuss I’ll let you be for now, you should have time to grieve”
Commissioner Karlson
There was no point in reminding him that hours ago they didn’t even know if her condition would shift to the more dangerous and life threatening seizures and only a very select few people knew about her visit to the Quill. And still she felt guilty for the trouble she had caused even as she fought against the extra narratives that were not true or useful here. It was one thing to take responsibility for one’s actions, but it was quite another to let Cory’s bulls!it tear her down more.
Eela nodded. “I will record my experience for you and have one of my CCDA team leads deliver it personally along with all the footage you requested. It might be Agent Gan still today, but honestly I’m rather out of the loop right now.” Yes, have her security team leads do a delivery might seem a task for someone else, but this was about chain of custody for evidence and they had sworn to protect her. All of her, including her reputation. This counted and she was sure they would agree.
“I’ll be home tomorrow by the latest, I’m sure, so if you need anything further, try me there. But I will be more reachable by then either way.” She gave a tired bow of her head. “Commissioner.”
And then the screen went blank.
