Snippet

Tiberius was in his quarters just relaxing after a long day. He was awoken after shift due to the thing with Dash and have been dealing with reports and meetings since then. He was finally able to relax a little. He was just getting caught up reading The Art of War again for the who knows how many times. He always like to keep his mind fresh with ideas from this book.

Tannenn rang the chime and mentally crossed her fingers she wasn’t interrupting anything for Chief of Star fleet Security. She figured if so she could apologize and go from there worst case. Best case was up in the air as she wasn’t expecting anything beyond a few minutes of conversation.

Tiberius heard the chime and stood up and then said, “Please enter.” He was curious of who might be ringing his bell but was always happy to have people coming to his door. He was just reading so it was not an interruption.

Tannenn tucked a loose strand of hair behind her left ear before she stepped, to allow the door to open. She offered up a smile, upon seeing him standing, “Good evening, I wanted to drop by and introduce myself if you are not currently busy?” She paused and added lightly, “Tannenn Keen, newly assigned as Chief Star Fleet Science officer at your service.”

Tiberius was absolutely stunning by Tannenn. He had to make sure his jaw did not drop when she walked in the door. He smiled and said, “Welcome to Oed V. This is a very interesting place. I have only been here a few months but a number of things have occurred on the colony. Where are you coming from? My previous post was the USS Titan.” He hoped he did not come off as creepy.

Tannenn nodded softly as she kept her eyes on his face, he was in her opinion, quite dashingly attractive, and had to remind herself she wasn’t here to flirt, “I have only been here for since this morning, but I fully intend to explore once I have settled into a routine.” She said with a light smile. She tilted her head slightly curious, “Maybe you could catch me up on anything I may need to know about OED V off the bat?”

Tannenn shifted her stance to more relaxed, as she regarded him. “I requested a transfer from the USS Edwardton, after becoming joined to Keen, six months ago, I am very much looking forward to working with everyone here.” She said lightly hoping she wasn’t babbling too much. She also did not want to overstay her welcome, handsome as he was, his being here for months, he likely already had a companion, she made a mental note to be mindful of her words in case whomever his companion was (lucky being) might show up during their talk. Keen wiggled in her pocket obviously enjoying the situation, Flirting is fine as long as you don’t cross the line. Tannenn blinked but didn’t tell the Old Worm to be quiet. She would tell Keen her opinion later.

Tiberius thought this was interesting she requested a transfer. He wanted to ask more about it but was unsure how to do it without sounding too invasive. He was thinking it might be better to wait on that. He did notice Tannenn seemed a little nervous but Tiberius was unable to put nail on the head of why she might be nervous. He then replied to her and said, “I believe you will enjoy the colony. The Vren are the big thing which is currently occurring. We have had a few incidents and progress with the Vren. I believe you will get directly involved with them as well once you get going.”

“Captain McBride mentioned the Vren and a gala coming up so I am looking forward to that as much as dreading it.” Tannenn said and added sheepishly, “I detest our dress uniforms, wish we could have the option of alternative styles of it at the least.”

He again smiled at Tannenn and made sure to keep eye contact but not for too long. He did not want to come across improperly. He then asked Tannenn, “What sorts of things do you like to do in your free time?” He was trying to keep the conversation going without any trouble. He always knew women liked talking about themselves. Tiberius had understood that Tannenn was joined but did not see any of the tale tale signs of being joined so it must be somewhere on Tannenn’s body which was covered by clothing. He would be curious of where it is but did not believe this was something which could be asked.

Tannenn smiled softly, “Do you want my hobbies or the ones that Keen has gotten me to try and more or less enjoy to some point?” she could see he wanted to ask more questions but was holding back out of what was likely hope to not offend by culture difference. “If you have questions about my joining you are free to ask, it isn’t as taboo as it used to be. Only taboo I won’t break is the Reassociation, which is taken by case by case now days but I just wouldn’t feel right about it personally.” she didn’t cause problems if it could be avoided and the new position here on OED V was offering much more than the Edwardton ever could, not that the ship was out of date but their route was not as apt to find new findings, or offering projects to get immersed in. OED V however going already shaping up to be interesting on many levels.

Keen wiggled again, but didn’t comment yet.

Tiberius next motions to sit and says, “Would you like to sit?” He then took a seat himself and then said “I would love to hear about both, if you have the time. I have nothing going on and was just reading after a shift. ” He was curious of what she liked to do before the joining but knew it was a major part but if she yet to enjoy them, there was no reason to know about those, just yet. He also noticed Tannenn was antsy about something but Tiberius could not figure out what it was for. Tiberius did not believe he had said anything which would cause a need for Tannenn to be antsy or anything but what did he know.

Tannenn relaxed slightly at the invitation to sit down, more so mentally than outwardly, Keen was wiggling in her pocket practically cackling in laughter at the situation. Hearing that he had no plans and was only reading meant there was no reason to be so cautious. Her cheeks flushed slightly she had been acting silly but well lesson learned. “Thank you,” she took a seat across from him, and relaxed further still, “Well I myself enjoy skating, swimming, ballroom dancing, gymnastics and parkour.” she paused wondering if she was babbling and hoped not, “Keen’s previous hosts were practicing a different type of martial arts style I haven’t found one that I enjoy for myself as of yet.” Tannenn paused and shrugged sheeplishly, “I started collecting and caring for some Bonsai plants as a new passion.” she gave a cheekier grin as she finished with, “Keen used to have a gambling problem so I only play Poker for fun never to win, while chess and kal-toh are just fun for both of us.” her eyes twinkled slightly as she finished speaking. She had given way more information than she had intended but well, he was she could admit, (handsome enough to distract anyone with eyes to appreciate him), she chalked it up to whatever and felt Keen wiggling in continued amusement.

Tiberius looked over at Tannenn while she said down and admired how she looked. He tried not to stare too long and made sure he would subtle about it so she might not notice. After they sat down, he said, “What sort of skating do you enjoy? I really like swimming myself and I believe poker is great as long as you don’t get too involved in the gambling portion and get yourself into trouble.” He was waiting to hear the response to his question but he wanted to finish his throught for her. He smiled at her again while admiring her and how nice her eyes were.
