Kenzo carried the drinks into the room and looked at Eela and Karilan. “Coffee and tea.” He said as he set the tray down. “Now if you will excuse me, there are fires burning that must be extinguished.” He looked at Eela and said “You will find some to rest and recuperate. That is not negotiable, Captain.” He looked at Karilan. “I am holding you responsible for her well-being, Massat.” He then looked at Caridee and said “Contact me directly if there is any assistance you require. And thank yiu for your work here today. It was more important than you may know.” And with that, he turned and walked out the door.
Hyrushi, Governor
There was so much to say and so much that would simply have to wait. Eela watched him leave, feeling uneasy that she was leaving him to handle things. It was supposed to them together at a time like this, but she could feel the fatigue in her body now and knew she would just have to be patient.
Sharah had woken many minutes ago. Ready to get up and go check on people. Yavia wouldn’t let her. Her relief that Sharah was awake was physical. There was absolutely no way she was going to let her get up yet. Not until she had thoroughly checked her, and held her in her arms for long minutes. But eventually her stubbornness wouldn’t let her rest, and Yavia reluctantly let her get up.
Yavia
Sharah wasn’t quite all there. She felt detached from herself. Like her body was living one existence and her soul another. Almost like they were communicating over a long distance. She was aware of the minds and emotions of everyone on Oed, she was separate but attached to them. She couldn’t seem to break free. She had to make sure they were okay. She knew Eela was. She’d felt it before she passed out. She could hear her speaking from down the hall. There was no panic or sorrow immediately around her. But Kenzo. She had to make sure. There had been a surprising intimacy in the connection they’d formed, and he’d risked a lot to help Eela.
Yavia wanted her to rest, but she couldn’t, not yet. Yavia walked with her, arm around her waist into the hall. She wasn’t quite present, not quite anchored in the physical, the contact helped. She saw Hyrushi step out of Eela’s room. “Kenzo?” She moved toward him, reaching a hand out to him, her eyes taking all of him in, the bandages, his expression, his posture.

He turned and looked at her, giving her a half-bow. “Doctor Fayth. I am glad to see you awake. How are you feeling?”
Hyrushi, Governor
Sharah refrained from touching him, not wanting to intrude. She understood much better now the toil it took. “Slightly detached, a bit … lost. It will pass.” She thought so anyway. It was a new experience for her. “And you, Governor? How are you feeling?” It was no easy thing they did, and they both had their own sets of consequences.

“As I informed the very insistent Nurse earlier, I will be fine in a few hours. The pain has subsided significantly.” he said, even though that was a lie. It was slowly receding, but he knew he would feel it long after the burns faded away over the next little while.
Hyrushi, Governor
“Ilena is very good at her job. She worries about her patients.” Sharah smiled, and Yavia outright chuckled quietly. “We are here to care for you as well. Please tell us if you need something. This is, uncharted territory all the way around.”
Lt. Cmdr. Fayth, SFCMO
Hyrushi nodded once and then said “I have pressing matters to attend to. Do stay as long as you need. Doctor Fayth. Nurse Crockett.” He turned and walked down the hall and down the stairs out of sight.
Hyrushi, Governor
“Thank you,” Sharah watched him go, knowing full well he wouldn’t ask, and understanding, or hoping she understood, that he was uncomfortable with being cared for. Yavia took Sharah back to the guest room and then went to the kitchen for food for her.
Ilena had cleaned and straightened the room where she had cared for the governor. Then the two nurses entered Eela’s room and quietly collected and packed all the equipment. They left a meditation with a few typos and the portable bed scanner for Sevren and then left the room.

Mathis sent a message to both Eela and Kenzo letting them both know that she had spoken to Ambassador Kek, whom extended his condolences. As discussing the best way to proceed, both her and herself agreed to meet in two days to have the conversations they had planned to today. Kek also wanted to be present at any death rituals for Jones. She also explained their tradition of taking the cremated remains and creating beautiful gemstones as a remembrance. Jones’ wishes were to be cremated already, but she was going to check with his family before agreeing to the touching ritual. As soon as she had spoken again with the family about arrangements and his body could be released, she’d set a date for some sort of memorial here on Oed before he was sent home to his family.

Eela sipped on her tea as the nurses came and left and she understood that things were wrapping up. That must mean everyone was okay. She could sense Sharah still here and as much as she desperately wanted to go see her, she knew Karilan and Caridee would something to say about that.
Caridee was drinking her coffee and watching her mother, and the two made eye contact. “Stop staring,” Eela said, though there was a warm tone to the command.
“I’m watching, not staring. Two very different things,” Caridee said.
Eela turned to look at Karilan. “So she says.”
Caridee just shook her head. “Drink your tea. Then we’ll get you up so you can use the washroom, then your calls, then sleep. The governor gave us orders after all, and I for one don’t want to be on the receiving end of what happens if we don’t follow through.”
