Séan nodded in acknowledgement. “That is a relief to hear. Psychological support I will do my best to provide. Can you go into more detail of her current state? You said that she was emotionally detached to the point of not feeling them. The backlash of having it all come crashing in must be incredibly overwhelming.”
Counselor Iven
Caridee nodded. ||Yes, it has been. Without intruding on private details I can’t share, I can say that we anticipated this. Myself and another person present whom she is close with empathically grounded her through touch. We basically flooded her with whatever positive and caring feeling we could, and while it didn’t stop the flood she received, it did ease some of the side effects we were concerned with. We did have to counter a medication in her body, and that helped her physical symptoms, but she is still processing the memories now available to her and all the emotions that went with them.||
Sevren pausd and took a deep breath, a tiny, if sad, smile appearing on her face. ||My mother is a resilient person and stronger than most I know. But this event comes on the heels of another deeply difficult personal event. I don’t know all the details of her work in that area, but I do know she’s struggling right now. And yet, she is the Lieutenant Governor, and if there is one thing you need to understand about Captain Eela Dasca, Counsellor, it is that my mother will not be accused of failing her duty. Not ever. Not even if it puts her at risk and costs her something. Right now she needs to regroup and give herself a moment to process the fact that she experienced the visceral death of a man she cared deeply about. She doesn’t have to say much about it- I can feel what she is feeling right now as her shields are quite thin at the moment.|| She was trying to not look so concerned, but it was impossible under the circumstances. ||The reality is that Oed Five needs their leader. They will grieve with her and show her compassion, but I think she’s concerned that it will be used against her if she can’t get back on her feet fast enough, or if the fallout paints her in a negative way. I’m just a guest here, and so I don’t know if that is true or not. She said Oed can be a brutally honest place and it will hold their leaders to account. But I think we can both agree that this is not only her not her fault, but she’s allowed more than one minute on her own to figure out what she’s thinking and feeling about this whole tragedy. The rest? You’ll have to suss that out from her.||

Séan nodded again while taking all of that in. “I thank you for your candor. I don’t know that I’m fully prepared to handle the immensity of this task, considering your mother is newly assigned as my patient, but it doesn’t look like any of us have the luxury of time. I will approach this as I would with any trauma survivor and hope that the… thin psychic shielding of her mind doesn’t overly complicate things.” He paused in his thoughts as he briefly considered another patient he had with telepathic abilities. Luckily he was experienced enough with this to have a good approach to the care needed. “Will I be speaking with Captain Dasca immediately following this conversation?”
Counselor Iven
Caridee nodded. ||Presumably. After we are done, I will go back upstairs and talk with her and see if she is ready. She didn’t resist the idea of talking to you, which right now I’ll take as a positive sign. If you can make yourself available for the next while, I’ll have her call you directly?||
~Caridee Severen
“I will clear my schedule for the next hour and await her call.” Séan responded with a nod of his head.
Counselor Iven
Caridee smiled gratefully. ||Thank you. We all appreciate it greatly.|| The screen went blank.
Maybe about ten minutes later, the comm chimed, the signal once again coming from a blocked location.
When Séan has spoken to Eela in the courtyard at the Complex, she had been in a moment of overwhelm, yes, but also put together having just come from greeting the Vren as they arrived at Oed. This Eela looked worn and troubled, and yet there was still a spark of something in her eyes that seemed determined. ||Séan,|| she greeted. ||Not quite the first session we were expecting.|| Understatement of the century. ||I… I don’t even know where to start.|| Other than Dash is dead and you can still feel it all in a heartbeat? ||I should tell you I have someone with me. Karilan. We are very close and I feel like I need the support. Being alone is…|| She shook her head, as much a shudder as anything right now.
~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.
Séan smiled back softly at Eela’s statement regarding what their first meeting turned into. “I do wish the circumstances were different Eela. A nice cup of coffee or tea is how I usually greet my patients but under the circumstances…” He spread his hands in a ‘what can you do’ gesture. “And of course have anyone you need by your side. Your needs are the priority right now. This is likely a silly question but one that I need to ask, have you been able to get any rest?”
Counselor Iven
||Yes and no. I had about three hours before events dragged me out of bed this morning and I accepted a light sedative and slept a little before we began my… treatment. But nothing since then. However,|| she looked off to her side at Karilan and smirked before looking back at Iven. ||I’ve been given strict instructions to rest after we’re done.||
