Fayth left Mercer in the hands of Lt Kingston and went back to the office she was using. Her next call was to both Cpt McBride and Lt Gov Dasca. Dasca would know about the gift and McBride was her direct CO, so she had to tell him. Better to do it all at once. She put in the call for an immediate conference call request for both of them.

Lt. Cmdr. Fayth, SFCMO

Amongst the preparations for the gala, Eela had a multitude of things she was juggling. She eyed the source of the call and smiled, opening the comm. =/\=Doctor Fayth,=/\= she greeted professionally, but also with warmth, despite the fact that she knew this was a typical call. You didn’t call her and McBride urgently for something small.

McBride joined the call a moment later, his gaze serious. =/\=Commander, I am guessing we’re not gathered to talk about the upcoming gala or the like? Report.=/\= While it was a standard command, he said t more gently, knowing she would anyway.

Captain McBride, Starfleet CO

“As I am sure you are both aware, Governor Hyrushi requested that Star Fleet Science, along with other fleet and civilian members, conduct research on a special package.”

“We were working on that research today, when, about 20 minutes ago, a man by the name of Elijah Mercer made his way into the complex and our secured lab. Record as show him to be a retired commodore as of a week ago. None of us had heard of him and I had him detained with security while I checked. He claims to be working for the colonial government. So I called the Governor’s office to confirm because I didn’t want to create an incident. Ms Fen I formed me they know who he is bit he was not authorized on the project. He is being escorted by security to the tower, per the Governor’s request.”

She took a breath. “We all know this looks very bad for us. He should not ha e gained access and I don’t know how he did. I should also mention he gave a fake name at first. Oliver Laughty, who happens to be my uncle. He claims he was thinking of an old friend and misspoke,” Sharah shrugged I dicating she wasn’t sure how well she could trust what she felt from the man.

Eela exchanged a glance with McBride and expelled a measured breath. Both he and Fayth would know the expression on her face was her restraining curse words, which some days took great effort. Today was one of those days. =/\=Fantastic=/\= she deadpanned. =/\=I do know of him and I do know he would be working on various high profile projects, but obviously this particular one is so under wraps it doesn’t exist. He would have had clearance granted to him at his arrival, because of his role, but this was an exceptional project and should have been outside of those limits. You said he barged in. How much do you think he saw or heard?=/\=

Sharah sighed heavily, =/\=Enough. We had just gotten the results of our first live test. His comment was that from ‘a scientific standpoint, that’s either really promising or cause for concern.’ I can tentatively confirm his biometrics from his authorization ID we took at security. But since he wasn’t transferred here through Star Fleet, I had to request his full records. I am waiting on them to arrive.=/\=

=/\=I was sure we had enhanced security protocols attached to the lab. But honestly, until we review the system I don’t know for sure what did or didn’t happen that allowed this error. Does he know the source of our special project?=/\= He’s get to the ID confusion in a moment.

Captain McBride, Starfleet CO

Fayth shook her head. =/\=That I do not know, Captain. I don’t know if he was simply looking for somewhere people were working, and a secure lab seemed tempting. Or if he knew and sought us out. We set the lab and our PaDD’s up on an air gapped system. It’s not connected to anything else.=/\=

He nodded. =/\=Hopefully we’ll have a better idea of the situation after security has dealt with him, but while I would love to give the benefit of the doubt, this is one area where we simply can’t take risks. What is your instinct about this identity situation? Do you believe him?=/\=

Captain McBride, Starfleet CO

“Well I know for a fact he is not Cmdr Oliver Loughty. He was surprised, almost shocked when I called him on it. It’s hard to pinpoint the subtitles of why. Surprise at his own mistake or that the falsehood was recognized so quickly, I don’t know.” Sharah shook her head in frustration. “I am not familiar with his mind and I recieve far too much input to be able to judge on a first encounter. I can say that he felt he had a right to be there and was upset we wouldn’t let him stay. I can also say that he went with me to security without a fuss and submitted for an ID and biometric check. As far as I know he gave Lt Kingsley no problems while being escorted to the tower.”
