Séan sighed with weariness as the work day ended and he finished up his notes after all of the patients he had seen today. He raised his arms above his head and groaned lightly as his back popped with the stretching. “Maybe I should bring some of the patients out for a stroll instead of being cooped up in here.” He mused to himself as he organized his desk then stood and grabbed his uniform jacket. ‘Hmm… I haven’t seen Thyr in a bit. I best go check that he hasn’t gotten himself killed.’

With a jogging pace to stretch his body out he headed towards Thyr’s shop. He arrived shortly thereafter and tried the door. He frowned after finding that it was locked and knocked against the door firmly.

Counselor Iven

It took a few minutes but soon he could see Thyr heading down the stairs. The tall Andorian was dressed in his Orion wear, a wrap that just covered what it needed to, then came up and over his shoulders. He unlocked the door and let Séan in, then closed and locked the door behind him. “We didn’t schedule to meet today, did we?”

~ Thyr

With a shake of the head Séan agreed with Thyr’s statement. “No we didn’t but I missed our last meeting and figured you wouldn’t mind my stopping by to check in on you.” With a grin he moved to one of the counters and lightly hopped to sit atop it. “So tell me. Any reckless fights, dangerous protection details, or tracked weaponry in the time since I’ve seen you?”

Counselor Iven

Shivan lifted his arms and then shrugged. Aside a few minor injuries from his work in the forge, his body was clean. No bruises. “No funny business. Not the last few weeks.” He said with a shrug, moving to sit behind the counter in his chair.

~ Thyr

Séan spun around on the counter to face Thyr and gave him a look of surprise. “Well I’ll be a ripe rutabaga. My dad always used to say that but I never found out what a rutabaga was. I’m surprised you’ve been keeping out of trouble. What have you been up to that’s been keeping you out of trouble?”

Counselor Iven

Shivan shrugged. “No energy for it. Shop’s been busy, guess that’s it.” He looked at Séan, “What kept you away? I finally scare you off?”

~ Thyr

Séan shook his head with a weary look on his face. “No, it’s just things have gotten so busy in the counseling department. The last two weeks has felt like I’ve been away from what has been normal for two months. It’s been crazy.”

Counselor Iven

Shivan chuckled lightly. “Too many mentally ill people to come waste your time here. Nice.” He started to head upstairs, beckoning Séan to follow him.

~ Thyr

With a shrug Séan hopped off the counter and followed Thyr up the stairs. “Mental illness touches everyone though some more severely than others. With all of the political tensions going on and the overall unease that’s brought to the population and Starfleet, it has led to a much higher rate of burnout, breakdowns, and depression. Doesn’t make it easy for those of us treating those going through it.”

Counselor Iven

“I couldn’t care less about the political crapshoot going on,” Shivan commented, unlocking his door, letting Séan in, then closing and locking the door. Then he went and sat on the sofa in the living room. “Well, at least you had the time today, I guess.” He acted nonchalant, but Séan should know by now he secretly enjoyed these visits.

~ Thyr

“I have to care because of the patients I’m treating, but I’m not particularly invested in the political ongoings personally. I wish there would be peace between the two races but otherwise this sort of situation has happened and will happen throughout history.” Séan said as he followed Thyr into the apartment and took a seat on the sofa beside him. “I just wish the tensions would ease a bit and everyone could take a deep breath. I’m not a telepath but even I am picking up the vide permeating the colony.”

Counselor Iven

Shivan nodded. “Is Doctor Fayth doing okay? She’s a telepath.” He asked, in a very non-shivan display of caring about someone. He leaned back on the sofa and looked at Séan. “So what do you want to talk about?”

~ Thyr

“I actually haven’t seen her recently because of how busy things have been but next time I see Lieutenant Mika I’ll ask her.” Séan answered as he likewise got comfortable. “I didn’t really come with a plan or direction in mind. It had just been a bit and I wanted to check up on you.”

Counselor Iven

Shivan glanced at him and shrugged. “Well, here I am. Being.... Me.” He said, Séan’s kindness as always, making him feel almost uncomfortable.

~ Thyr

“Well I haven’t been up to anything beyond what I’ve already told you. Though I did meet Jezem’s husband Argam. He seemed to be a lovely sort.” Séan commented with a smile. The food was delicious and the brandy was still tucked away in his quarters.

Counselor Iven

Thyr shrugged, “He’s alright.” Honestly, the two of them barely interacted. Thyr assumed anything involving Thyr was probably “Jezem’s Problem”. Thyr leaned back and crossed his legs. “So if our last few weeks have been nothing but boring… What do you want to talk about?”

Thyr Th’arialat
Resident

“How about any goals, dreams, or aspirations that you have?” Séan asked back with a grin. “I know you’re not exactly spoiled for choices here on Oed, what with needing to keep a low profile and all, but it’s important to have something to look forward to. So if this all blew over or ‘they’ imploded… what would you want to do?”

Counselor Iven

Thyr considered that question for a moment, and then shrugged. “I don’t know. Run a legit freighter maybe?” He shrugged again.

Thyr Th’arialat
Resident

“Hey, there’s an idea!” Séan said with a chuckle. “I could retire from Starfleet and join you on freighter runs. I could even show you how to repair some of the more pesky Andorian quirks.”

Counselor Iven

“You’d never leave that counselor you’re dating,” Thyr replied with a shrug. “And she doesn’t seem like the freighter type.”

Thyr Th’arialat
Resident

Séan gave Thyr a look. “I’m not dating anyone. But setting that aside, I don’t know if she’d enjoy the freighter life or not. It’s not too dissimilar from being on a starship and you’d give her plenty of medical work with all of the bar brawls you’d have every time we stopped in at port.”

Counselor Iven

Thyr laughed. “Sure you’re not. That’s why you meet up, like, every chance you get. And why you give me that look every time I bring her up.” He grinned and shrugged, “I dunno, maybe you should ask her if patching up bar brawl injuries on a dilapidated ship toting food and clothes from one planet to another is her idea of a good life.”

Thyr Th’arialat
Resident

“Maybe I will float the idea by her and see what she thinks.” Séan said with a sassy look in return. He wasn’t planning on retiring for awhile and Thyr was likely to be stuck on Oed at least as long, but having even a somewhat distant idea of what might be possible was heartening. “Maybe we can convince Jezem to slum it on a freighter with us and Argam.”
