Lail and his assistant appeared in the morgue in a swirl of lights and transferred Jones’ body to a table. “Prepare the autopsy equipment Ms Urel. I’m going to get changed and scrub.” He exited the main area and went to the locker room to change into scrubs.

He returned shortly and they removed Jones from the protective coverings. “I’ve started the file for Mr Jones, Dr.” Lial nodded, “Thank you Urel. Let’s get started.” They began with a basic full body scan and then organic and inorganic particular scans and collected anything the computer identified. Then they went over the body by hand and collected anything else. Then they removed his clothing, bagged and tagged it, and then went through the process again. Taking scrapings from under his nails, and swabs of the cuts and bruises, inside his mouth, ears, and nose. The prepped all these for analysis by the lab later.

As with the scan at the scene, the injuries were all noted and in more detail:

• fractures to left side of the mandible, right zygomatic, right maxilla
• particulate in laceration on right cheek has a tiny piece (2 mm long by 1 mm wide) of leather
• contusion to abdomen with closed fracture (2 cm) to the surface of the fifth right costal cartilage
• spiral fracture of left ulna ( likely because assailant twisted his arm to try to flip him backwards)
• contusions to right hand
• on the lower chest and almost blending into the abdominal contusion is a small and perfectly round contusion from something that might have been a hypo had it been pushed against the skin with great force.

A subsequent blood tox screen would show Jones had only the barest signs of alcohol in his blood, but there were two very notable toxins that came up:

• 2 mg of anatoxin-a stemming from the cyanobacteria genus Nostoc
• an unknown toxin that was flagged from Jones’ skin, specifically the back of his neck. Curiously, it hadn’t penetrated into the blood. The flag generated an alert to both Starfleet Security and the CIA
  -traces of oil where the various contusions were there were larger contusions (except the round one on his chest) that was commonly exuded from ukumien leather; ukumiens are small animals with skins prized for leather due to its sturdy but soft structure.
