Charles strummed his guitar loudly and said “Oh hell no!” and he laughed loudly. “You may not corrupt her, but they sure as hell would!” and he laughed again before looking at his dad and shaking his head. “Only in all the good ways, though. I promise.” At that moment his comm chirped and he looked down and scowled. ‘’ ‘scuse me.” he said and set the guitar down and moved away to take the call. He radiated anger, irritation, and disappointment… and concern.

Tenkillers

Sharah nodded, “They are very good people.” She raised her brows at Yavia and then turned to Mary with a mischievous grin, “and I’m sure they would love to tell the younger sister of Major General Charles Tenkiller all about his courtship of the outrageous Nurse Yavia Crockett.” Yavia glared at Sharah, “You know, maybe we shouldn’t go visit them.”

Sharah laughed and then was quiet, turning to look at Charles. Yavia sensed the turmoil in him too. Sharah didn’t intrude on his thoughts, but there was her familiar mental touch and sense of support and willingness to help.

Sharah

Cecil watched Charles leave and then looked at the gather women. “Happens a lot, I bet.” he said and he picked up the guitar and strummed softly. Donna’s eyes tracked Charles until he was out of sight and then she said, almost as if she had made the call herself, “It’s Abigail. She’s done something wrong.” Mary’s jaw clenched and suddenly Sharah and Yavia could no longer feel Charles. Or anyone. A veritable emotional and telepathic wall slammed down around everyone on the patio. Even the constant background of the planet that Sharah felt became distant and far away.

Yavia nodded, “It happens to all of us. It’s nice to be able to come home to people who understand.”

Sharah smiled at Yavia. It was nice, it was comforting. But Sharah knew it wasn’t work. This was family; it was about Abigail. Donna spoke the truth before Sharah could and then everything went silent. Sharah swayed in her seat, but the moment passed. She recognized it as a much stronger and wider spread version of what Mary had done earlier.

Yavia blinked, momentarily disoriented at the sudden lack of awareness and looked around. She got up and knelt in front of Sharah, steadying her. She could tell by Sharah’s expression it happened to her too. And sudden drastic changes in input were like severe vertigo on Sharah.

Sharah squeezed Yavia’s hand and nodded. She was alright, and then she looked pointedly at Mary and nodded when Yavia’s elegant brows went up.

Donna and Cecil took a breath, and Donna patted Mary’s hand. “It’s okay, hun. Chuck’ll make it right, no matter what.” Mary sighed an exasperated sigh, but nodded. “That’s what I’m afraid of. Whatever she did, she deserves whatever she gets.” Cecil went from strumming to silent ans gazed intently at Mary. “And you know that the boy’ll never play favorites. If she’s in trouble, then she’s in trouble. Charles’ll just make sure she gets a fair shake, I’m sure.” Mary sighed again, and slowly all the feelings and ‘noise’ of the planet returned.

Yavia looked over at Mary, “That…was impressive, Mary. But we’ll talk about it later.” She went and sat down next to the younger woman and put an arm around her. “Don’t take on other’s troubles. She’s responsible for herself. Oed is a unique place. It has a way of making people find the path they should be on.”

Charles walked back to the patio, jaw set ND took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. He looked only at Sharah, because only she would grasp the true magnitude of the situation. “Abby is in custody. Assault and vandalism. She apparently, in a fit of racist rage, threw a bucket of paint on two passing individuals who are not human.” He took another deep breath.

Yavia looked up at him and sighed as he explained and braced herself for what was coming next.

Sharah sighed. Oed as a community had no patience for racists. And there were severe penalties for Assault and there would be others for the vanalism.

“It was Lord and Lady Duroc. They were on a date, just the two of them. She apparently hit Lady Jal’na in the face with the bucket… in front of Lord Urg’tohn.”

Tenkillers

Yavia’s jaw dropped and she began to curse, rapidly, fluently in Deltan. If dragons were real, Yavia would have been spiting fire like the mythical creatures.

Yavia

Sharah didn’t cuss, her face went white as she stared back at him. She stood. “By the four gods.” She took a breath. “You have to stay here. Lord Urg’tohn will be livid and will take any action seen as loyalty to her as further insult to his honor. We can’t afford that. You can speak to him when he’s calmed down. I’ll go, make sure Abigail’s okay. She’ll be admitted to the security ward if she’s under custody. She’s lucky to be alive.” She was going to have to find a whole new staff for the ward. Everyone cleared to work the security ward were very close to Jal’na. They would never hurt Abigail, but it was better to have unbiased care takers. “I’ll check on Lady and Lord Duroc as well.” She walked over to Charles and hugged him, tightly, letting love, affection, strength and calm suffuse him. “I’ll let you know as soon as I do.” She just prayed it happened on Oed soil and nowhere that was considered sovereign Klingon territory.

“I’ve been… requested… by House Duroc. Abby is concious, but she is in the hospital. And yeah… she’s more than lucky to still be breathing; let alone talking.” Charles said and then shook his head. He looked at his parents and Mary. “Lord and Lady Duroc are the rulers of the Klingon Noble House of Duroc. Lady Jal’na is a doctor at Sacred Heart, and a friend of Sharah and Yavia. She is atypical of Klingons, as she is patient and understanding. Lord Duroc, on the other hand, makes other Klingons uneasy both with his size and his demeanor. In short, he is very large and very insane… at least by Klingon standards. But I have dealt with him in the past, and we have a mutual respect. But apparently Abigail used the ‘Do you have any idea who my brother is?’ defense… so, yeah.” He looked at Sharah and said “You deal with Abby. Keep me informed. I’m gonna change and go see Lord Duroc.”

Yavia stood up and went to him, taking him in her arms. She wanted to tell him it was going to be alright, but that was a premature reassurance. The three of them knew it. Yavia knew Jal’na would try her best to not let Urg do something drastic, but she was still worried enough to feel sick to her stomach. She wanted to go. She wanted to make sure Jal’na was alright, and make sure TK stayed that way. She wanted to make sure his sister would survive this. She wanted to go, but she couldn’t leave his family here alone. “Be careful,” She kissed him briefly and rested her forehead against his. “I’ll be there as soon as you call.” Then she let him leave.

Sharah glanced back at Yavia, Stay with him. She went down the few stairs of the deck and pulled her combadge out. =/\=This is Lt Cmdr Fayth, I need an immediate transport to my office at Sacred Heart.=/\=

=/\=Right away Cmdr.=/\= and Sharah disappeared in a swirl of lights.

Sharah

Charles watched her leave and then sighed. “Well… I’ll see y’all in a bit. Don’t wait up.” he said with a chuckle. “Abby’ll be ok. She’s in good hands. And I’ll do what I can. But if she did this on Klingon grounds… well… they have very specific traditions for such insults.” and he looked at Cecil and Donna. “I’ll do my best to help her. But this could be really bad.”

Tenkillers

Yavia stood there a moment as she watched them leave. She took a breath and turned back to his family. “Sharah will take care of Abigail. She’s the best doctor at Sacred Heart. She’s going to be fine.”

Yavia

A little while later Yavia felt Sharah’s mental touch. Jal’na would be fine. Abby was screaming and making a horrible scene. She found his family. “Abby is awake. She has tissue damage and bruising in her throat, but can talk. A bruised lung, several cracked ribs, and a broken arm. She’ll be fine. Dr. Eraras is the top orthopedic surgeon in the quadrant and he is with her.”

A little while later, Sharah reached for her again. Yavia, he’s hurt. Make him listen when he gets home. It’s not nearly as bad as it could be. Make him soak in really hot water with a soak when you are done.

She took a deep breath and went and got her med kit. “He’s on his way home. He’s hurt, but okay.”

Yavia

The door opened and Charles walked inside. His eyes was so swollen the line between the lids couldn’t be seen. He walked into the living room where everyone had congregated. He looked around and smiled. His mother and Mary stood up and moved towards him, but he waved them away. “No no… It looks a lot worse than it is. Besides, you should see the other guy.” and he looked at his father and smiled. “Not a mark on him.” and Cecil couldn’t help but smile. Charles looked at Yavia and said “I’m sure she already told you, but put the kit away. It’s gotta heal on it’s own, or House Duroc may take offense. And speaking of…” and he turned and looked at the group.

Yavia glared at him. Like hell she was leaving that alone.

Charles took a breath and began. “So Abby is in the hospital. She is in police custody. Assault and a few other charges. But right now, we all have a problem. And that is House Duroc. Seems like they need to take a measure of our family as a whole to see if they can let the issue stay with Abby… or if it has to expand to all of us.” Donna stood up and said “Well that’s just absurd! I will not allow-” and Charles looked at her and held up a hand. She glared at him, but didn’t speak further. “Y’all, we are dealing with Klingons. And with their overinflated sense of honor and blood. Now, on the good side, Lord Duroc isn’t a huge proponent of the classic Klingon stereotypes and can usually be dealt with directly and fairly. The bad news is Abby cracked his wife’s face open.” He looked at Yavia and said “Jal’na is fine. Completely healed up.” He looked back at the group and said “But… since Abby did this… it’s a huge insult to House Duroc. Like… huge. And Lord Duroc wants blood. Fortunately, Lady Duroc is a bit more… ‘less prone to psychotic rage’… than her husband. So she is requiring us to have a meal with House Duroc. On their grounds. With their guards all around us. If they find us honorable, they will drop the issue and leave it up to the Oed Police. If we don’t go, or we don’t convince them that we are good people…” and he looked at Yavia. She knew the answer, and he couldn’t bring himself to say it.

Tenkiller

Yavia smiled and let out the breath she was holding in a rush. “It will be fine. Jal’na is very level headed. But Abby put this matter on the whole family when she used TK’s name to threaten them. She’s giving him the opportunity to prove he is still the man they all know and have worked and lived beside. House Duroc is very protective of Jal’na, they won’t just let the insult pass.” She grabbed something our of the freezer. “You will like them. They are good people, and Mary will get to try gagh.”

She looked at TK seriously. “It’s better than what could and probably was going to happen to you. We will bring Jal’na a giant box of prune truffles as thanks.” She walked over and pushed him into a chair. “Now sit.” She placed a soft ice pack on his eye and then opened her tricorder. “Don’t you dare argue with me, Charles Tenkiller. I know how to take care of a fist fight without ruining anyone’s honor.”
