Katilan shook her head. “No, it will not be more suspicious. They have no reason to suspect you. And I know you want to help. Mr. Torres. But allowing yourself to be used as a pawn by the police wouldn’t be helping. And I sincerely doubt Mr. Jones would want you involved in this, isn’t that true? Now, I am quite certain that the police will come to speak with you. When thru do, you are free to do as you wish. But there is nothing wrong with having a lawyer there with yiu if you do speak with them; to ensure you are protected… correct?”

Raf nodded, if slowly. “Dash would tell me to keep clear.” He snorted and shook his head. “He’d probably tell me the same thing I told him, that we made our mistakes and there’s nothing gained by digging a bigger hole.”

Tapping his palms on the countertop, Torres drew in a breath, holding himself a little straighter. “What else do we need to do before opening?” It didn’t even seem a question that they would open. “And, uh, I’ve got thing here if you need to step out at all.”

Karilan smiled at him and said “I think I will be in all day today, Mr. Torres… but I thank you. And Mr. Jones would have been correct.” She lifted her cup towards him and said “A toast. To Mr. Dashiell Jones. A fine gentleman and truer friend. May his memory live long and bring much happiness to those fortunate enough to have known him.”

“To Dash,” Raf said softly, lifting his cup as well. He sipped and set the cup down again. “Alright, to work, yes? Before the morning rush gets here.”
