He wanted to be angry at Dash, but the truth was he understood. Or rather… he wanted to. He was trying. It had been a risk, he knew that. Coming to Oed was likely to blow up in his face, but after everything Raf realized he had something to actually lose and he didn’t want to. Having Dash come through for him was actually unexpected, but at the same time his old friend backed away. He got it. Or rather, he knew that Jones’ status here on this colony meant that impressions and perception mattered and he had clearly done everything he could to have a different life than before.

He, Raf Torres, had paid the price for his bad decisions and crimes, but unlike Dash, his followed him. As he came to stand in front of the bookshop Jones instructed him to go to, he was hesitant. A bookstore was laughable, really. Him? He wasn’t book smart. Not like Dash and a lot of people had had known. Even studying for his certificate had bene a painful process but it had been worth it because hands on he was good at things. That was the one thing he had discovered eventually.

Dressed in tan chinos and a short sleeved cream button down withe wide dark blue vertical stripes, Raf opened the door and stepped in, looking for the Deltan Dash said would be his new boss.

A Kretassan woman approached him and said “Greetings and salutations. We welcome you to the Quill and Parchment Bookstore. We are a full service purveyor of books, tomes, manuscripts, and other such materials. We also house a research annex and collection of first and rare editions, open only to scholars and those with need to access the area. There is a coffee bar and café with a full-service kitchen as well. How may I be of service to you today, Human?”

Raf was hesitant for a moment, and honestly a little thrown off by the greeting, but he swallowed. “Um, I’m here to see the owner, a Karilan Massat? I’m Rafael Torres. I was told they’d be expecting me.” Maybe expecting was too strong a word, but then again Dash had been pretty insistent that Massat fully expecting him to show up. He had never been good with being told what to do, but he knew better than to rock the boat as it were, especially given the circumstances.
