Stepping out of the theatre into the cool night air Eela slipped her hand into Dash’s and gave it a squeeze. “I’ll see you at the restaurant in a little bit?” she asked.

“Absolutely,” he said. “I can’t wait.” He kissed her hand before she stepped away and she just grinned at him.

Going their separate ways for a short while Eela returned to her apartment to change. As promised, she set up a screen in her bedroom and called Karilan. Still in her black dress, her cheeks were flushed slightly and Eela’s expression was elated.

“Tell. Me. EVERYTHING.” the Deltan said with a grin before eben saying ‘hello’. “And no, not about the performance.” they said with a wink.

Karilan

She beamed at Karilan before laughing. “Oh Karilan, he’s just…” She shook her head. “He brought flowers, but just in case it was too much of a cliché, he also brought seeds to grow the flowers because he knows how much my garden means to me. And the entire time he was watching me watch the performers, yet he still could remark to them afterwards about the nuances of their performance. He really pays attention and I just love that.”

Eela drew in a deep breath. “I don’t want to keep him waiting too long, but it’ll only take me me thirty seconds to change. Ready for another reveal?”

“You watched me change, its only fair.” Karilan said with a grin. “Seriously, change. Yiu can’t keep him waiting.”

Karilan

Her other dress was hanging in the bathroom, but Eela sat on the end of her bed and changed her shoes. She held up a pair of silver sandals with a low heel and straps that would wrap around her ankle and lower shin. “You know, aside from my brace, one of the big helpers to my back issues has been the fact that I have to get my shoes either custom made or specially adapted.” She grinned. “No one needs be being klutzy because I’m not standing straight.”

Once she got the shoes on, Eela unzipped the side zipper of her dress and slipped it off her body, draping it over an armchair. “Back in a second.” And sure enough, she came out, adjusting a silver dress that she had pulled on. It was much like she had described to them, with a light silver fabric that just skimmed her body and didn’t hug too tight, and with an asymmetrical hem that went from above one knee down to the other shin. The top was cut in a V-neck that was low but not revealing so, with long sleeves. The dress was gathered at one hip. The other ladies had been right, you really didn’t see her brace at all, and even the top line of it just looked like it was part of the dress or was hidden by the gathers.

She did a very slow spin for Karilan and it was clear she was carefully tracking spots on the walls as she went. Vertigo in heels was a bad combo, but you could see how the straps wrapped around her legs by how much leg was revealed. “Well?” Eela said with an impish grin. “Or should I go put the lack one back on?” Her eyes were lit up and she was clearly teasing.
